Chapter 11 - Point of No Return

A sudden loud sound of sword striking something like a wooden crate came from the direction of soldiers and both of those creatures went on running towards it ignoring the kid as he never came into their field of view.

As suspected, the sound of soldiers alerted the beasts towards them but what surprised him was not him being protected, but their sheer speed of sprint of the one with long arms. It ran fast and was leaping.

'I guess I was right about them.' The kid thought to him 'But can I really take them on?'

While it was possible for him to defeat them one on one, it would be almost impossible for him to take multiple of them at once, especially the one with long arms.

'I should be careful as I proceed and not alert the horde.'

He stepped closer to center while dodging and sneaking past the creatures on his way, he stumbled upon a jar on the window of a ruined house. The jar had small spherical objects inside of it with odd looking dirty liquid. As he shook it around, they wiggled around like soft balls. The closed jar itself looked disturbing and off putting.

He thought to himself 'I am not interested in whatever… these are'. He just calmly puts it back and ignores it and soon makes his way to the center of the village.

He is almost at the center and he notices the white ray shining from the center of the village up to the center surrounded by mist circling around it flowing upwards.

At the center existed an odd looking beam of light pointing at the sky on the veil surrounded by mist circling around it flowing upwards. Some small pebbles and small chunks of ground were levitating up and down around the light. It looked almost like a portal to somewhere.

The waving string was directed toward the inside.

'Whatever you say. I am not going inside of it at all cost.'

He decided to rest around the one of four long roads that connected to the center for others to catch up. The string became agitated and started moving more violently but he ignored it completely.

But just as always, his luck will not let him rest peacefully as soon the soldiers' shouting voice came near alerting the creatures near the center towards their direction.

The problem arose as the kid was also near the center as the creatures were trying to go towards soldiers and chose to move from the long road to the center. It exposed him to those creatures.

'Those idiots can not keep quiet for once.'

He readied his sword to fight as the creatures came closer from the long road behind him, pushing him towards the center where more creatures awaited.

For now it was two against one, a small one and another one who had a bigger ribcage about half the size of his own but both of them had no pointing bones.

Without giving them a chance, The kid stepped up and slashed up the smaller one killing it in one go and tried going in for the second one instantly.

He readied his sword and tried to slash the other one but as he was going to hit him, the creature retracted his bones like cat claws. The bones were solid and hard as his sword hit them. The kid retreated backwards.

The dying creature let out a loud disturbing scream which gave him a headache. He stabbed it but it was too late. It was not just a random scream but to warn others and soon the other creatures noticed and started walking towards him.

'I should had just killed you instantly' he regretted. He tried to be greedy and go for the other instead of finishing his first one properly.

The other creature rotated his torso and hips as the pointing bones came charging at him but without wasting time, he tried to cut the bones down but the bones were a lot stronger than he expected.

'This is going to be tricker.'

With every passing second, he finds himself getting surrounded by creatures. Luckily, the creatures are not rushing towards him.

The creature had small arms making it only be harmful from the bones alone as they could not reach their short arms to him when they retract their rig bones but that wouldn't be enough as their strong bones retracted like claws were strong for his sword.

'What if I make a dash towards soldiers… no there is no alley way connecting to them, I will have to go through the center.'

He grabbed the bone, pushed it sidewards and tried to stab him from the side at the leg.

As the sword stabbed the legs, it let out a scream and fell on its knees. Taking advantage of it, he stabbed it again.

While that slowed it down, there was no time to rejoy as the more creatures were coming towards him.

Three other creatures instantly attacked him with his small arms without retracting his ribcage but against his sword, it was no match as the sword sliced through them.

He sliced the first, dodging the other creature but overwhelmed, the first creature hit him on the side arm with its arm making him flung towards the ground.

The creature instantly starts charging at him without giving him a break.

'If this goes off, I might not last for much longer.'

He stood up and started dashing towards the center trying to run towards the soldiers but as he reached the center, the creatures were blocking his path to other long roads and soon he was cornered from all sides.

A creature with unusually long arms got on all 4 and started sprinting from the long road towards him. Its speed was faster than others, faster than a horse itself and unlike the small armed which were barely able to run properly.

The only way open was behind him which was the white-ish steam of light ray. The creatures were staying far from it as if it held some importance. It almost looked like some portal. The string was waving around rapidly as if it was telling him to jump in instantly.

'Whatever it is, I might be better off there than this.' as he takes another step backwards into it.

It felt as if it was sucking him inwards and not letting go. Having no choice, he walked into it. With each step the shining light got brighter till it covered up all his view with white color. He felt as if it was affecting his sight and he felt slight headache.

He was able to hear the soldiers outside as they made it to the center, like they were slamming at the gate, trying to enter the place as well but were not able to, like some mysterious force was stopping them.

Having no way back, he took another step, the bright light suddenly stopped and he found himself at the doorway with stairs going a few steps downwards.

He entered the throne, ruined and old. Two pillars stood by the door and one of them was broken and the other on the verge of collapse as the room was not maintained for a long time.

The room was connected by three doorways, at some angle near one another but only the middle door looked accessible and the other two doors had no stairs and were just for decoration. The door showed the entrance to the throne room.

A single throne was placed at the polar opposite of the door which was also colored the same as the room, some of it crumbled as if it had lost its authority and meaning, not being repaired for a long time as no one came, as if it was abandoned by the people. There was nothing in the room except the thorn, pillars and doors.

The room was empty and looked lonely despite being the throne room with multiple doors for entrance showing many can enter and one of them still opened and accessible but no one came to visit. The room which should be filled with trusted people and visitors who come for an audience with the king is now empty and lonely.

At the throne seated a young looking beautiful man with medium-long blonde hair, dark brown eyes and wore casual white clothes. While posing on the throne almost like royalty, yet his clothes were more of a fighter than a self deprived noble.

He had a golden outline like that of the Ignis and the man who burnt his village. He was able to see the outline once again but not after images. It felt like travelling through the portal instinctively activated his sight but the world was not colorless as before.

'A human? I guess relax for now.'the kid thought to himself.

The man on the throne made an arrogant pose as if he was looking down on the kid. "Oh poor pitiful soul, For you to escape death just to get trapped into my chamber with no hope of rescue."

'I take it back, this guy is annoying.'

"Oh you poor, pitiful, feeble human. It seems like you have no idea of what you just ran into" rejoyed the man on throne as he sang his own praises.

'Just great. An arrogant person' The kid thought to himself. The kid questioned 'Ran into? What is this room?'

"You ignorant human, there is no need to give knowledge to someone who is about to die."

'I see… so you don't know yourself. What a pity'

The man instantly changed his tone to defensive. "I know. Haha. I know it all. I guess I will bestow some knowledge onto a fool like yours"

'... too easy' the kid thought to himself.

"This place is where strong people like me stay. The one who controls the land between the two worlds itself. The strong people like me are chosen and the void connects the two worlds together putting someone strong of my caliber in charge."

'Connects? Why does it connect the world?'

The prideful man paused for a moment before responding "Foolish kid, know your place"

'I guess that is all I am going to get from him.'

"And this room is where the strongest like me reside from our world. That is all you need to know about how great I am. Now get ready to die by my hands and consider it a… blessing." he was pausing in his sentence as if he was thinking of what to say next.

As he finished his speech, he opened back his eyes and looked towards the kid and he was missing. There were no objects to hide behind as the room itself was pretty much empty.

The only place where he was able to hide were the pillars or… his throne.

"Since my head is facing towards the right side, you would be on the left as it is the best way to sneak past." as he quickly looked behind his throne from the left side.

There was no one there.

Swoosh. Something struck in his heart.

He looked towards the right side, the kid stood there, as he stabbed him in the chest at his heart. The man just looked at his heart and at him in disbelief and soon fell silent.

The kid was indeed on the left side but he sneaked onto the right behind the throne while the man was busy showering himself in his own praises and speaking out his mind.

The man fell silent as he lost strength to keep himself up and he fell backwards almost like posing for his death even when he was leaning forwards.

The kid felt a bit relaxed as he looked at him.

'I might not be good at one against multiple but one on one is different'
