"Anyways, our channel's programming lacks variety," Liam quickly changed the topic and explained his original intention for approaching the music festival organisers. "Our channel simply plays songs on repeat. That is not a good thing. There must be some special events."
"Interviews, talk shows, music festivals, some special programs, these all must be included in our programming. Only then, we will be able to grow and become a popular channel. Look at NBF, don't they have All-Star Games, Christmas Specials and what not. It is a bit like that."
"Earlier, I pushed back your talk show proposal because we didn't have the funds for it. However, we don't have to invest a dime for this music festival. We easily got a music festival broadcast rights for basically nothing. Only the production cost is borne by us. How could I let such a good thing slip away?" Liam chuckled.
"And you know what the best thing about this is," Liam asked Rosa with a triumphant glint in his eyes. Rosa shook her head. "This is our ticket. Our ticket to a whole new world."
"I don't understand," Rosa said in confusion.
"Rosa, my darling, this music festival is our ticket to enter event broadcasting. Now those who watch this broadcast will see a small, local music festival telecasted nationwide. This will make them remember us."
"Next time another music festival is planned, we will be in their list of people to contact. It will start with small and medium size music festivals, move to concert tours, after that large music festivals, and one day we might even telecast the Spirit Awards. Do you understand now?" Liam asked with a brilliant smile on his face.
Rosa looked at him in shock, unable to reply.
"Now that we have entered the door, there is a chance for other things to happen. And Rosa, my beautiful personal assistant, you were a part of making this happen. Aren't you excited?" Liam asked, wiggling his eyebrows.
Rosa responded with a fierce kiss on his lips.
"Ha, that tells me all I need to know," Liam chuckled. "Stick with me darling, you will have more history making moments like this."
Rosa simply hugged Liam and nodded at him excitedly. The duo reached the parking lot and set off to a hotel. With the excited mood Rosa was in, Liam wasn't foolish enough to send her away. Thus, another night of excitement went by under the city lights of Starlight city.
Two days later, MusixZ TV signed a broadcast contract with the Music Rain Music Festival event team and officially became their broadcasting partner. Liam and Weber hugged each other and posed for a photo to commemorate the event. After a group photo, everyone went back to their respective lives and got busy with their work.
However, the next day, Liam received a bad news.
Before signing the broadcast agreement, Liam had already spoken with his old man and got his blessing. His old man even promised to send over an experienced production team to help him out. It was better than what he had hoped for.
However, the production team was the production team, the event still needed a host or an on-screen person to guide the viewers. For that, Liam had asked Evan to reach out to suitable hosts that worked for their TV network.
"So, none of them were willing to host the music festival, huh?" Liam asked in a gloomy voice, causing Evan who had reported to him to shiver slightly.
"They said that their schedules are full and declined our invitation," Evan replied diplomatically.
"Full schedules huh? Who are they kidding? Didn't we reach out to them after analyzing their schedules and finding them available? What bullshit excuse is this?" Liam sneered.
Evan could only wring his hands helplessly.
"They just look down on this gig. We were even willing to pay premium rates for their appearance. And yet, they think this stage is too small and reject us. Do they think they are some great talk show hosts or event presenters? Even these small fries are looking down on our channel, hmmph!"
Liam felt as if he was slapped in the face. He will definitely retaliate against these self-important fools one day. However, the time wasn't right. He couldn't do anything immediately. There were rules in the industry. He couldn't break them yet.
For now, he will make a note in his heart and look for the right time to get back at these bitches.
"Should we look at some male presenters? Earlier we didn't contact them because we wanted female presenters," Evan asked hesitantly.
"Look for someone with a sense of humor. If they have some comical talent, it will add a bit of variety to the event," Liam waved his hands and dismissed Evan.
Two days later, Dave visited Liam in his office.
"How is your music video project going?" Liam asked after they finished their greetings.
"It is going well. The broadcast fee you offered was quite good. So, the record labels were quite willing. The only headache is those artists insisting on some nonsensical elements or trying to insert their friends who have no talent. But, I have left those things to the filmmakers who are filming the MVs," Dave replied with a smile.
"The volume is quite large, I am surprised you were able to manage it. In fact, you have already delivered content for two months as per the agreement. And this is the first day of the second month," Liam praised Dave's work ethic.
"Ha, that's the easy part. I registered a company and hired a bunch of film school students who are studying directing. I put them in-charge of a fixed number of MVs and set them limits on what can be shown and what couldn't be."
"After that I gave them free reign. I didn't interfere. They are the ones who deal with artists and their entourage during filming. I only go to mediate when things get heated. Even then, people respect me enough to listen to what I say. After all, I am the one who chooses which songs to make MVs for," Dave said slyly.
"You sleazy bastard," Liam chuckled and shook his head. "So, you basically handed everything to filmmakers and became a hands off shopkeeper huh. Clever."
"I believe in the saying that professional things must be done by professionals. Let them torture their brain and do their best, I will just ensure the quality meets your standards and count the bucks. I know nothing about art and all the other stuff. But, I know how to manage people and delegate work."
"Well, the first batch will start to air from this Monday. We will see how the response is. Hopefully it is as I hoped," Liam said, leaning back in his chair.
"Hey, can you make a list of what songs do better and give it to me?" Dave asked suddenly.
"Why? What do you plan to do with it?"
"I will use them as examples for later MVs. Also, if there is a particularly good filmmaker who can consistently produce good works, I will hire him for my company permanently," Dave replied candidly.
Liam was impressed with Dave's thinking. He also made a note to pay attention to these promising filmmakers.
"I will ask Evan to send you the list. You can deal directly with Evan for stuff like this," Liam agreed readily. "Oh, by the way, I completely forgot about it. How is our Ms. I-Don't-Want-To-Be-An-Actress doing? Did she star in any of those MVs."
"Don't talk about her," Dave shook his head. "She stared in a bunch of MVs in the first batch and then completely lost interest. That one has a lot of thoughts in her head."
"I see," Liam shrugged and didn't pay much attention to it. "I will check out how her parts have come out if I have time. What is your opinion? Did you watch any of her clips?"
"She is a good dancer. Her dances were explosive. She has good screen presence as well. But, she steals too much of the spotlight. It made some of the artists unhappy. We had to cut down her portions a lot. She wasn't happy with that. I think it was one of the reasons she refused to come for later MVs."
Liam's eyebrows rose at that statement. He understood why the artists were unhappy. And even supported Dave's actions. Still, it was surprising that she was able to shine that brightly. Liam hadn't expected such a performance from her. It looked like he had to definitely check out her MVs.
"Well, I completely forgot what I came here for. I heard you signed a broadcast agreement with a music festival. Is that true?" Dave asked curiously.
"It is true. I am planning to add a bit of variety to our shows. So, I joined the music festival as their broadcast partner," Liam admitted readily.
There was nothing to hide. The contract was already signed. It was a done deal. There was no use in hiding that information. Moreover, Dave must have a reliable source as well. Hiding things will only make things awkward between them. Their relationship was quite good now and there was no need to complicate it.
"Then in that case, do you have any production work available?" Dave asked eagerly.
