Alex was waiting at the front door holding a bouquet full of roses. He was happy to see me. He stretched his arms towards me offering the bouquet saying "This is for you....."
Is today supposed to be a special day? Our dating anniversary is still a month away... Of course, I was still happy with the roses he presented. I smiled and showered him with gratitude. It did not have to be a special day for my boyfriend to give me flowers. I have always loved roses very much.
Alex pulled my hand gently and took me into the house. I saw my living room completely filled with decorations. My family were all present and smiling at me. There was a very beautiful cake filled with love. I was quite confused with a lot of things happening at the same time. But... I was pretty sure that this must have taken a very long time to prepare. My heart was filled with joy.
I curiously asked him "How long did you take to prepare all this?". Alex smiled " Does it matter? You don't need to know... Nick helped me with the preparations too".
Nick is my neighbor and Alex's childhood friend. They were best friends in middle school but somehow got separated because Alex had to move out. It was a complete coincidence that they met again... I thanked Nick for helping out with the preparations.
The pleasantries were finally over. We cut the cake together and celebrated. After I was done eating my cake, Alex walked towards me.....
The scene felt magical. Alex bent on his knees holding a beautiful ring " Rina... You are like the sunshine of my chaotic life. The six years I spent with you felt like a dream. You seem like an angel who will soar through the sky and disappear the moment I let go of your hand. I want to hold your hand forever.....Until we grow old....Until we are turned back to dust and return to nothing. I love you.... Will you marry me?"
Before the speech was even over, my eyes were filled with tears. My love for him is like the mountain. I was filled with gratitude. I want to spend a lifetime together with him. I want to look at his face as he wakes up with a messy hair. I want to grow old together having the same feelings as we were young. I want to be with him eternally...
I tried to compose myself back as much as possible before declaring the word "Yes..."
