At the breakfast table, Sophia looked proudly at her six kids. "My babies, you're incredible!"
"Mommy, stop trying to make excuses for being lazy," Angela said with affectionate exasperation.
"Mommy, we want to go to the company later too!"
"You all want to go?"
Leaving six kids home alone didn't exactly feel safe.
"Alright, you can go with Daddy. Mommy will come by this afternoon, okay?"

When it was almost time to leave, Sophia pulled out her phone and showed Angela a message. "So—you remember everything I said?"

"Good girl. Be good. Mommy will pick you up tonight."
Lucas had said he wanted another bet, and she wasn't one to back down.
