NOTE: This portion of the codex contains information that serves as a spoiler. If you have not read up to vol 1, chapter 18, it is highly advised that you do not read this yet. However, if you don't care, have fun reading
(18)Inae: Inae is a type of extradimensional energy harnessed by accessing a higher dimension. It is responsible for all of Itokin's strange techniques. Previously in my codex, I have defined it as a strange phenomena. However, I now know that the secret to these technologies is the usage of Inae.
The strange light-yet-dark glow that I have been noticing is actually Inae in its raw form, which is only visible to those with high potential. The 'presence' that I have noticed is Inae in its 'aura' form; most wielders are able to sense this type though.
Inae can be manipulated by a select few by usage of a special device known as a PsiKit. The ability is far more common among Itokin, however other species can rarely mutate the ability. The level of potential varies significantly, the weakest wielders of Inae might be practically useless. But the strongest can easily change the entire nature of universe-wide politics.
Inae wielders are split into three 'categories' of affinities, these are not mutually exclusive, but there is typically one 'high', 'medium' and 'low' affinity. Do note; the scale does include more than these, the scale is (from lowest to highest); pitiful, low, medium, high, great, extreme, immense. The categories of wielders are, Shifters, Skiers and Gesir.
(18)Skier: The Skiers have a strange affinity for forming 'auras' of Inae around themselves. They can then manipulate this Inae in order to influence the minds of those around them. They are denoted by those Itokin who wear pure black cloaks and have the Order's insignia on their forehead. It is to note, Skier's abilities are often rendered less efficient on those with potential in Inae wielding. The more powerful the Skier, the larger the area of their auras, and the harder it is to resist them. The older species have also noticed this strange ability, but don't understand it. However, they have managed to develop devices that heavily mitigate the Skier's influence over them. Amongst the original five sovereign species, all high ranking officials will have these devices equipped at all times. The Arkan and Zekan are immune to this interference, due their consciousnesses being synthetic, consequently they are also unable to gain the potential to be a wielder.
(18)Gesir: Gesir has an affinity for controlling and collecting Inae in its more raw forms. They can then manipulate and channel this raw inae into technology, like Spacenullifiers or voidliths. They are also essential in the production of PsiCores. Each Gesir has a different quantity of raw Inae that they can control, and it is very draining on the mind and body. The Gesir are denoted by those that wear white cloaks and have the Order's Insignia on their foreheads. Also to note: highly skilled Gesir can actually wield raw Inae to affect reality without the assistance of technology. For instance, they may be able to use telekinetic-like abilities.
(18)Shifters: Shifters have the ability to voidshift objects or non-wielding people. The vast majority of shifters are barely able to transport people and objects with the usage of voidliths. However, the most powerful shifters can make use of natural weak spots throughout the universe to shift large objects, even up to battleships, into the sanctum space. Shifters are very important to the function of the Itokin, even the weakest shifters are used to transport materials and people into and out of bastions via voidlith structures. The Shifters are denoted by those that wear purple cloaks and have the Order's insignia on their foreheads. In addition, the lighter the shade of purple on their cloaks, the stronger their abilities are.
(18)PsiCores/Inae Technology: PsiCores are a special type of device that is always found in inae-based technology. They use semi-stable wormholes to channel Inae from other dimensions to fuel simple technology. Some of these technologies include;
Spacenullfiiers: Previously I have been referring to this technology as massless-tech. But in fact, it is a special type of reactor that uses inae to alter the fabric of spacetime in order to nullify many aspects of space. Like gravity, inertia and the natural decay of particles. These devices are widely distributed to other species. However they are built with self-destruct measures to prevent anyone from discovering the secrets of PsiCores and Inae technology.
PsiKits: Likely the most important type of Inae technology, these devices allow wielders with affinity to extract and manipulate extra-dimensional Inae. The techniques of these kits is an extremely well kept secret that has not been shared with me. All I am aware of is that they contain a type of PsiCore.
VeilProjector: a type of inae technology that can be used to completely hide a section of space from all types of detection or entrance. These are vital to keeping the voidliths secret. The only way to piece the veil is to have a special type of device known as a VeilKey in proximity to the edge of the veil. This will then open a temporary hole in the veil and allow passage through. Every PsiKit installation also includes one of these Veilkeys.
(18)The Void/Voidshifting: The void is a space between spaces, largely exempt from the rules of reality. Not much is known about why it exists or how one precisely navigates through it. However, shifters are able to make usage of this space in order to voidwalk. By utilizing various weak points throughout the universe, shifters are able to enter the void and travel into and out of the sanctum. While most shifters are too weak to do this alone, many weak spots have voidlith structures built around them, which amplify their abilities. The larger the amount of mass a shifter wishes to voidshift, the greater the mental and physical strain required.
(18)Voidliths: The voidlith is a monumental structure. They have been built by the Itokin all through the universe on 'weak points' in spacetime. By making use of an extremely potent PsiCore, the structures are able to take in supplemental raw inae in (channeled by Gesir) in order to greatly magnify the abilities of shifters to enter the void. They do this by heavily stretching spacetime while accelerating whatever is to be transported. This makes the barrier between the void and the universe far weaker. Voidliths can vary heavily in size, from planetary based ones that are capable of transporting personnel and few supplies, to massive world-class structures built in deep space that can be used to shift entire battleships. The larger the voidliths, the more raw inae is needed to power them. The size of the voidlith is generally referred to by the class of the largest object they can shift. For instance, a personnel-class voidlith up to a battleship-class voidlith. To date, there has never been a voidlith built large enough to shift colossus-class ships.
There have been several successful attempts to build tiny voidliths in spaces that are not weak spots. However, without natural weak spots, the raw Inae requirements become astronomically large, meaning they are very rarely used.
(18) The Sanctum: The sanctum is an extra dimensional space alongside the universe. The only way to access this space is to voidwalk by the usage of the shifter's ability to voidshift. The sanctum is composed entirely of empty vacuum. Normal concepts of reality still apply though. It is also interesting to note that even in this extra dimension, spacetime can still be folded using hyperspace drives. This implies that rather than being a higher dimension, it runs alongside that of the universe. Key Note: the relationship between space in the universe and space in the sanctum differs by a factor of 50. This means that by travelling through the sanctum you can effectively travel 50 times faster through the universe. The only caveat is that the only entrances and exits are weakspots/voidliths.
(18) Bastions: On the sanctum side of each voidlith, is a bastion. Bastions are artificial environments that are created to sustain life in the emptiness of the sanctum. Bastions can range from minor settlements that support the voidlith as a travel hub, to massive megalopolis with tens of billions of residents. It is to note, those of the Itokin species are allowed to enter and exit bastions, and travel between them. In addition to those that have been accepted as honorary members by the Itokin.
These 'non-wielders' along with materials and resources required for the function of the bastions are transported though the voidliths by using the many weaker shifters. This job is still highly respected, and these shifters that dedicate their lives to this important function are heavily revered.
(18) The Order of Convergence: The Order is an extremely influential organization. They are responsible for the management of all things relating to the sanctum and Inae. They form one third of Itokin's government system. It also acts as a form of church and many regard it as a form of religion. Members of the order are divided into several ranks based on their skill/dedication. Most wielders will become knights, but never reach the higher ranks.
Initiate: Those that have been invited, but not completed the trial of convergence.
Acolyte: Those that have passed the trial and are in training. They often serve in various apprenticeships under those more skilled than them.
Knight: Once an individual has shown significant mastery in their primary affinity, they are granted Knighthood and allowed to take on apprentices.
Visionary: Awarded to those who are of significant power and/or have served the order for several decades.
Ascendant: Each sage personally appoints twelve ascendants, who are of extreme power and possess great influence. They are usually promoted from visionary and are of the most powerful wielders.
Sage: 'Leaders' of the branches of the Order of Convergence. It is a position only attainable by being an ascendant (of any branch) when one sage retires/dies and competing in a trial of wisdom. There are 7 sages in total. They are often possessing great power, however it is not required that they be the seven best wielders.
The Transcendent: The Chief power in the Order of Convergence. The transcendent is a supremely powerful being with affinity that makes even the sages look like insects. The original founder of the order and the one that introduced Inae based ideas to Itokin. They also serve as the Sage of the transcendent branch. Not much is known about them personally, but they have been transcendent for at least two billion years. It is rumored that the Transcendent has such powerful control of Inae that they are able to voidshift from anywhere to any place at any time. Any being that stands before them will unconditionally obey any given command. They are also said to possess enough control over raw Inae to theoretically fuel a battleship class Voidlith without a weak spot singlehandedly.
Branches of the Order: The Order of Convergence is made up of seven branches, each tasked with a different function.
The branch of initiation is dedicated to administering trials of convergence and identifying potential wielders.
The branch of the void is dedicated to the management and construction of the voidlith structures throughout the universe.
The branch of bastion is responsible for the management and construction of the various bastion habitats.
The branch of Inae is responsible for research into various applications of Inae technology and how to better control it.
The branch of movement is responsible for managing logistics and transport throughout the sanctum and between bastions.
The branch of determination is responsible for managing the ranking system of the order and promoting qualified individuals up to visionaries.
The branch of the transcendent is by far the most influential branch, it is responsible for the management of all other branches and serves a key role in the Itokin government. Its sage is the Transcendent.
