Chapter 6 - One Last Act, Before Leaving

Qing Lingxi fell silent hearing Li Shen's question, she looked down.

Li Shen didn't press her. He just waited for her to speak.

A few seconds later, she took a deep breath and raised her head up.

She looked at Li Shen and started speaking about why she was being chased. "Its because I found something important."

Saying that, she took out a scroll from her spatial ring.

Shoo....

Then, she raised up her hand with the scroll on her hand.

Li Shen looked at the scroll and calmly raised his hand. With that gesture, the scroll magical flew towards him from her hand.

Seeing that, she was surprised inwardly. Though she knew and expected that he could do it, seeing with her own eyes still surprised her.

When Li Shen got the scroll in his hand, he unrolled it and check the content.

As soon as he saw the content, Li Shen pupil shrank.

Out of nowhere, the atmosphere shifted inside the room. Once again, Qing Lingxi suddenly felt the same oppression.

Ughh.... She immediately put down both her hands on the bed and supported herself. This time, it was as strong and oppressive as earlier.

However, there was a different this time—about the unknown pressure.

When she was at the street, when she felt the pressure, she didn't feel anything —like emotion. But, this time, inside the room, she totally felt the raging anger behind the oppressive pressure.

Like it was boiling, but also under control.

In horror, gasping for air, she hurriedly looked up towards Li Shen. Her eyes told all what she went through at the moment.

Li Shen closed his eyes and took a deep breath —calming him. Then, he slowly closed the scroll.

He smiled apologetically to Qing Lingxi. "Sorry for what happened just now." And he threw back the scroll to Lingxi.

Somewhat mind blank, she caught the scroll and responded softly. "No worry sir."

"Just call me senior or just Mr Li." Li Shen smiled and corrected her way of addressing him.

"Yes, Mr Li." She quickly corrected herself.

It was not that calling him sir was disrespectful or anything. It was just the Li Shen didn't like it, he felt cliche.

Then, he went back to his normal expression and said. "You are not hungry right?"

"No. No. I have my hunger pill here." Lingxi hurriedly stated and quickly took out a small package of hunger pills.

"Good. Because I didn't order anything." Li Shen said. "Well, since you have that it's fine. Now, rest for the night. We will leave tomorrow morning for Lotus Pavillion."

"Yes, Mr Li." Somewhat still drawn to the previous scene, Lingxi answered subconsciously. Then, she hurriedly shook her and snapped back to reality. "What!!? Mr Li, are you going with me?"

She thought she heard it wrong. And if what she heard was true, then its a good thing for her. She was just worried about going back to her sect alone. But with Li Shen escorting her, it was guaranteed that she will be reaching her sect I one piece.

"Yes." With a short answer, Li Shen disappeared from his window spot.

Lingxi didn't even catch which direction he left. Above that, she didn't even get the chance to ask where he was going.

Well, people like Mr Li must have things to do. Ant like me can't guess there thoughts at all. She quickly made up her mind and took some hunger pills. And she stayed on the bed, meditating.

For cultivators like her who were only at the Qi Refining Realm, they were not free from mortal life. Just only better than weak mortals.

On the other side, inside office room of the city lord of Holy Wine City.

It was quiet inside the room, with only the city lord working on things.

However, no matter how calm he appeared, a thought still lingered inside him. He just could not shake the feeling of something bad was going to happen to him.

As he reviewed the papers, he was constantly thinking of what kind of things he had done recently and where did he slip up or anything.

He was so focused that he didn't even notice that someone had appeared in front of his desk. And the person was just standing there.

Hai.. I can't remember at all. Where the hell did I slipped? The city lord shook his head as he couldn't think of anything.

Let just rest for a while. Maybe I'm thinking too much because I'm tired. Thinking of that, he looked up, away from his papers.

However, he didn't even raise his head up properly when he spot the figure of a man standing before.

He was so shock that, he suddenly jumped away from his seat.

Creek-thump..

The wooden seat he was sitting on dropped to the floor, sideways.

After he was a safe distance away from the figure, the city lord looked at the man.

This time, he properly saw the face and figure of the man, who appeared out of nowhere without his knowledge.

But, he didn't say a word. He just looked at the man with extreme alertness.

Who is her!? How come I didn't even sense him with my peak Foundation Establishment Realm. His thoughts went crazy thinking of many possibilities. An assassin? Sent by whom?

As if knowing what he was thinking, the unknown man spoke. "I'm not an assassin sent by anyone. But you got one thing right, I'm here to end your pitiful and cowardly life."

The tone of the man was full of pride and contempt. It was like he didn't even think of him as a opponent at all.

Gritting his teeth in anger, he spoke with concealed anger. "Explain yourself."

"Hum... it seems like you didn't get my point. Well, it doesn't matter, a dying person doesn't need to know at all." That was the last thing, the city lord heard before falling backwards after feeling an extreme coldness.

At that moment, he even lost consciousness.

Little did he know that he won't be waking up again. And even if he wake up again, it will be in hell.
