It was almost midnight when Raj called.
"Still awake?" he asked.
"Obviously," I said. "Sleep's for people who aren't losing their minds."
He was quiet for a moment, then said, "I've been thinking. You're gathering proof, but what's the endgame? You planning to expose her? Beat the guy up? What?"
I didn't answer right away.
I was staring at the ceiling fan spinning slowly.
"Not yet," I finally said. "When the time's right, I want it to break her. Not just embarrass her. I want her to feel… cornered."
Raj sighed. "You sound like someone who's already half-gone, bro. Don't let revenge be the only thing keeping you alive."
I smiled bitterly at the phone.
"Maybe that's exactly what's keeping me alive."
