Tuesday brought police interviews. Maya sat in Dean Thorne's office with Agent Torres and a detective from the local department.
"Miss Castellanos, we're investigating the evidence that was submitted about Madison Sinclair's activities." The detective, a middle-aged woman named Foster, had kind eyes but a sharp voice. "We need to ask if you had any involvement in compiling or submitting that evidence."
"No." Maya kept her voice steady. "I knew Madison had issues with me, but I had no idea about the extent of what she'd done."
"You weren't aware of her cheating schemes? The blackmail? The hacking?"
"I knew she threatened me. Tried to get me expelled. But I didn't know she'd done it to other people. Or that it was criminal-level bad."
Detective Foster made notes. "And you have no idea who submitted the evidence?"
"No. But I'm not surprised someone did. Madison hurt a lot of people."
