Ava did not realize when it started.

At first, it was nothing more than a fleeting glance and an accidental brush of her eyes in Damian's direction as she lowered herself into her seat at the dining table. She told herself it was habit. Curiosity, maybe. After all, she had spent days trying to understand him, trying to read the man who had become her husband in the most unexpected way. One glance did not mean anything.

But one glance became two.

Then three.

And then it became something she could no longer ignore.

Dinner was served in quiet elegance, the soft clink of cutlery against porcelain echoing faintly through the spacious dining room. The chandelier above cast a warm glow over the table, illuminating Damian's sharp features and composed posture. He sat at the head of the table, as he always did effortlessly commanding the space without saying a word.
