Chapter 66 - Purpose

Adam runs on the streets, straight to where the grand hotel is, where the show is being held.

Adam: Panting Greg... What... What do you mean... that...

Greg: Calm down. Just breathe first.

Adam: Hmm... Right... So, you told me on the phone that something happened to the hotel.

Greg: Can't you see it?

Adam: Well... what could it be... is it a small difference?

Greg: ... Not really...

Adam: WHAT THE HELL?!

Greg: So you found out.

Adam: It was taller I'm sure of it! That can't be! It's like it's shorter by an entire floor!

Greg: Indeed it is. You had such a hard time to notice it because this hotel has a flat roof?

Adam: I don't know how I couldn't notice it earlier!

Greg: I'm sure it will be everywhere on the internet and TV soon.

Adam: But... this is surreal!

Greg: They are done with the Final Game, but soon they should start the Ceo Takeover Game I think.

Adam: Then they are still inside... right?

Greg: They should be, I think.

Back to the... Hotel?

Oli: Betting your life on a game? This is stupid! Why would anyone do that? Nonsense!

Todor: It's not even a question. The answer is obvious.

Mratni: So?

Todor takes the pen from the side of the clipboard and signs the contract, soon handing it to Mratni.

Oli: Seriously? ... I mean, I had a feeling you would...

Mratni: Excellent.

Todor: When will we play?

Mratni: Not so fast, Todor. There is some stuff you need to know first, the referee will tell you everything you need to know.

Referee No.1: Me? Leader, you sure? Usually the Ceo themse-

Mratni: Are you questioning me?

Referee No.1: O- Of course not!

Mratni: Then what are you waiting for?

Referee No.1: I'm really sorry, leader.

Todor: Could you start finally?

Referee No.1: Yes! So basically, I think I should start with what does it mean exactly to become the CEO. Everyone thinks it's just about managing the show, almost. Well the fact that the CEO never shows up and no one knows who it is raises suspiciousness among humanity, but what could you do against it?

Todor: So then what being the CEO really means?

Referee No.1: The CEO of the Big Win Chance Game... Is the most important person on earth... The CEO... is the leader of the entire planet earth!

Oli: What are you talking about!?

Todor: Is it really the case?

Mratni: Indeed. You know the basic ruleset right? Sure because you have perfect memory. A season ends when someone who has the rights to end the show says that the show has ended. I'm the only one who has that right.

Todor: Really? So that means that the referees are still not allowed to lie. So he is telling the truth. That's also why he is calling you "leader" and not just "CEO"

Referee No.1: The identity of the CEO is the most secured out of anything you can name. Being the CEO means that you are the most important person ever. You see, the first season started in 2026. Back then the world was not in a really good state, wars, global warming, some unrenewable resources were soon about to be gone in just a few decades, causing the collapse of society.

Todor: Interesting, seems like it's really successful then.

Referee No.1: The world just in a few decades became a lot better. No more wars, it's so much more peaceful like this.

Todor: But the CEO has unlimited power?

Referee No.1: Almost, but if you mean what I think you do... Then yes, if the CEO would want to end the world, he could, no one would stop him.

Todor: Almost unlimited power, you said?

Referee No.1: He has some rules to follow as well, just wanted to tell you. This is the downside of being the CEO. You sure have noticed already, Mratni has a thick metal bracelet on his left wrist. If he would break a rule that is made for the CEOs, it explodes with such strength that you die no matter what. These rules are:

Would try to remove the bracelet by any means Have to hold the Big Win Chance Game Show once every 4 years and create unique games or game variants Must accept if the winner of a season challenges you to the CEO takeover game Would leave the grand hotel building More than 5 people knows with full certainty who the CEO is

Oli: What are these kinds of rules? What psychopath would be okay with that? I get that unlimited power and all, but this is too much!

Todor: So when I shouted your name in the Blind Bet game, then I just played with your life, Mratni?

Mratni: Yeah, crazy right? Even you wouldn't think I'm so limited in such a way.

Referee No.1: There is also a limit of how many CEOs can be, which is 1.

Todor: Does that mean there can be none at all without the system being ruined?

Referee No.1: So fast, as usual. Yes, I was just about to get to that part! When the game starts, the challenger also gets a bracelet on his left wrist, just like as how Mratni have one right now. This device turns on whenever it is placed on someone. Instantly, the devices notice each other, they know the one who wears them is the CEO, but since there would be 2 while the game goes on. This means that this game will be played as not just Todor not being the CEO but Mratni won't be either.

Todor: Is it because he could just command for an automatic victory if he would stay the CEO when the game starts?

Referee No.1: Exactly. This is all to make sure the game is fair and square. As soon as one of you dies, there will be only 1 active device, making you the CEO.

Mratni: Hearing all this, are you still okay to play? You can still step back if you are scared, you know.

Todor: Good joke. You know the answer already.

Oli: Why am I here? Could someone explain it finally?

Mratni: hmm... You have to watch the game we will have.

Oli: WHY?!
