Larissa's POV

Carson's fingers traced a dangerous path along my thigh beneath the dinner table, creeping toward the edge of my dress with deliberate slowness.

I flashed him a sharp glare, but he responded with that devilish grin that made my pulse quicken despite my irritation.

"Tell me, Carson," Rick's voice cut through the intimate moment as servers placed dessert before us, "how committed are you to this young lady? Larissa strikes me as exceptional."

Silence descended over the dining room like a heavy curtain. Ella practically leaned across her chair, her curiosity barely contained as she waited for his response.

"Completely committed, Grandfather," Carson answered, weaving his fingers through mine atop the table. "Larissa is extraordinary."

The reverent way he spoke that single word sent warmth spiraling through my chest, though I knew it was all performance.

"Extraordinary enough for marriage?" Rick pushed, his directness legendary in business circles.
