CHAPTER 9
Saturday came, and Vinny is just preparing to head out; he's wearing a topgee black shirt and grey shorts. He also has a small black sling bag, and lastly, he wears white Air Force 1 leather and also wears a black Nike cap.
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"I guess this will do. Should I bring my bike today? Probably not. Oh, I forgot my jacket! "
Vinny then gets his jacket and leaves. Vinny gets on the train to the city side; when he gets out of the bus, he goes to the park that they were supposed to meet at. Vinny got to the park and saw that she was not there yet and checked his watch to see that he was 15 minutes too early, so he then decided to wait for her. After some time Akari shows up; she is wearing a white t-shirt with a gold-like necklace, and for the bottom, she wears a long skirt with white Air Force 1s. Akari sees Vinny and rushes to him; when Vinny sees Akari, he is stunned by how beautiful Akari looks.
(Japanese) (Akari)
"Sorry, Vinny, am I late!? "
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"*Blush a little.* Oh no, I just got here actually."
(Japanese) (Akari)
"Is that so? Well then, let's get going then!! I can't wait to go to this café you mentioned last time! "
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"*Smiles* Is that so? Let's get going, then we'll have lots of time to look around the city, so no need to rush."
The two of them start walking, heading to a café.
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"So tell me, how's work looking up for you? "
(Japanese) (Akari)
"Well, for starters, it's good, and the environment is good too! Also, the others are so friendly and good to be around."
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"Glad you like it; some of them may look aggressive, but all of them are actually friendly."
(Japanese) (Akari)
"You betcha! Anyways, I have a question. I've heard from Haruto that you guys will have a race this upcoming October. Is that true? "
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"Pretty much, yes. Oh, we've arrived at the place.
They arrive at this café that has a modern style and modern equipment; this café promotes modern coffee making. Vinny and Akari came across a service crew, who led them to a table for 2.
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"So this place promotes a modern style of making coffee, huh?"
(Japanese) (Akari)
"It's so cool in here!!"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"Anyways, what do you want to order?"
(Japanese) (Akari)
"Let's see here, *looking at the menu*, I will have a latte and a tower strawberry pancake!"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"Okay then, I will have a hazelnut iced coffee and a peanut butter waffle tower."
Vinny then pays all of them a total of about 3,300 yen.
(Japanese) (Akari)
"Here's my share*Giving him some money*"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"What share?"
(Japanese) (Akari)
"For the food and drink? Aren't we supposed to share for the food and drinks?"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"No? I am the one that asked you to come, so you're my guest right now. I cannot take the money you offer me."
(Japanese) (Akari)
"What!? But we order like around 3000 yen!?"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"3,300 yen, to be exact. Well, I don't have a problem with money, though; for me, that only costs me 22 yen or 22 US dollars."
(Japanese) (Akari)
"I always forget that you were this rich. Anyways, I have some other questions. Are you really that good at cycling?"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"…that's a personal question, but I'll answer it. Well, I am very confident in my skills, and yes, I am that good at cycling, but there is one guy in my mind that can go toe-to-toe against me when it comes to cycling, a friend from the UK who is now a professional cyclist."
(Japanese) (Akari)
"Interesting, but if you are this good, why did you not take the professional league?"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"Good question, but my answer is I also don't know. I think it's because I lack ambition to do it. I don't really have a reason to race professionally, but my friend does; he wants to become the best cyclist or just be on top."
(Japanese) (Akari)
"Who is this friend of yours?"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"He's **** (Note: spoiler alert—you will know him sooner). I've been with him since childhood. He's an average guy at first, but he has great ambition when it comes to cycling. Actually, he's the very reason why I am riding my bike. He has this dream that he wants to have a team with me and climb to the top."
(Japanese) (Akari)
"Why didn't you?"
(Japanese) (Vinny)
"…because I have another alternative goal, to seek the corruption in the world of sports, I will not tell anything more further; say this is a sensitive topic, and I cannot tell it here in public."
(Japanese) (Akari)
"That is a really serious goal you have there. Oh, the food is here!!"
Akari and Vinny enjoy chatting together and drinking coffee together; they talk about themselves and get to know more about each other. After they are done, they leave the café and start to roam around the city. They go to some tourist spots and parks, and they visit a nearby shrine. They pray and give respect to the shrine, and they also go to grab some snacks and something to drink with them. After some time it's 4:00pm; they finish their day with a goodbye. They both go their separate ways. After a while Vinny gets home and changes his clothes; before going to sleep, he first reviews the store's update, and after that, he goes to bed.
