Chapter 21 - girl

Liu Xing walked to the rightmost door on the second floor. According to the information provided by kp004, this was the room of the castle lord's daughter.

Here, kp004 didn't even ask Liu Xing to pass another Luck check. Liu Xing immediately saw that the door was ajar, but the light inside the room was still a little dim.

Seeing this, Liu Xing knew that the castle lord's daughter was probably still in the room.

So, Liu Xing decided to perform a reconnaissance first, carefully observing the room.

"... There's no need to be so cautious. Although the light in this room is a little dim, you can still see clearly, so the reconnaissance is automatically successful," kp004 said to Liu Xing with disdain.

"So, you notice a girl who looks to be about ten years old sitting on the large bed in this room. Because she's facing away from you, you can only see her waist-length blonde hair, but you have a hunch that she must be very beautiful."

Liu Xing nodded silently and began to ponder whether he should approach her.

From his perspective, Liu Xing was certain that the girl's current demeanor made her a key NPC. After all, she was the daughter of the castle lord and likely possessed some crucial intelligence.

But how could he extract this information from her?

While Liu Xing was still pondering how to approach the girl, he heard a faint sigh from the room.

Liu Xing was startled, thinking he had been discovered.

But soon, he noticed that the girl didn't turn around to look at him, so he concluded that the sigh wasn't directed at him.

Thinking of this, Liu Xing decided to go in and take a look, perhaps even strike up a conversation. He had a hunch that a sentimental little girl like this wouldn't be dangerous (this is the author's serious nonsense).

After all, Liu Xing had been something of an artistic (middle school) youth back then.

So, Liu Xing knocked on the door and said, "Hello, may I come in?"

As soon as Liu Xing finished speaking, the girl in the room turned and looked at him.

After seeing the girl's face, Liu Xing had only one thought in mind: APP (Appearance) 18!

In the Cthulhu Mythos setting, the highest possible appearance for a human is APP 18.

So, Liu Xing only thought of a line from a poem: Gou... Gou... What the hell? It should be "This girl should only exist in heaven, nowhere on earth will she be seen."

But Liu Xing quickly recovered. After all, this wasn't the time to be gazing at beautiful women, especially the girl's eyes, which were an unusual red.

Of course, rather than calling it red, Liu Xing felt it would be more accurate to call it blood-red.

Clearly, if the girl wasn't wearing contact lenses, the blood-red color alone would have made Liu Xing feel his SAN was in danger.

However, Liu Xing still clung to his convictions, believing the girl wouldn't pose any threat, especially since she was so beautiful...

Of course, if Liu Xing hadn't had the Anthropology skills, he would definitely have given the girl an Anthropology test to determine if she was human. The reason was simple: she was simply stunningly beautiful!

In the Cthulhu Mythos setting, mythical creatures generally possess higher APP than humans. Even the Deep Ones and Ghouls, considered hideous by humans, possess APP scores of 16 or 17 when young, ensuring they can find mates for reproduction or sacrifice in the human world.

Liu Xing didn't know the girl's exact APP score. He could only determine that the minimum was 18. Whether it was higher than 18 was beyond Liu Xing's ability to determine.

So, Liu Xing decided to ask kp004, "KP, is there any way I can find out this girl's APP score, or even if it's over 18?"

kp004, knowing what Liu Xing was thinking, said with a sly grin, "Of course there's a way. You can choose Anthropology."

Liu Xing had no words for kp004. He knew he had no Anthropology score, yet he still asked him to take it, even though the base score was only 1. Did kp004 really think he was lucky?

So, Liu Xing gave up trying. After all, if he failed the Anthropology test in front of the girl, with kp004's personality, he would definitely get into trouble.

So, Liu Xing decided to ignore kp004's advice. "kp004, I'm going to do a persuasion check on the girl to convince her that I mean no harm to her."

kp004 thought for a moment and said to Liu Xing, "That's fine."

Persuasion, 8/40, success.

Liu Xing breathed a sigh of relief, smiling and saying to the girl, "Hello, I'm a visitor to the castle, invited by the lord. My name is Liu Xing. I'm currently touring the castle. I didn't realize this was your bedroom. My apologies for disturbing you."

Although Liu Xing's words were full of loopholes, because he had passed the persuasion check, the girl accepted his explanation. "Hello, I'm Isabella. Nice to meet you. It's been ages since I've seen a visitor like you, and it's been ages since I've seen my father."

Liu Xing could tell from Isabella's tone that she was feeling quite lonely. He also noticed that the lord of the castle hadn't seen Isabella in a long time.

The castle lord's room was right next door, only seven or eight meters away, but Isabella said the lord hadn't visited her in a while, which was a big problem.

However, this was someone else's family matter, and Liu Xing couldn't say anything more about it.

So, Liu Xing smiled and nodded, saying very gentlemanly, "Oh, then, Miss Isabella, I see you're quite bored here alone. Would you be interested in chatting with me?"

Isabella nodded immediately upon hearing Liu Xing's words, a smile also appearing on her face.

So, Liu Xing walked into the room and sat down next to Isabella.

Sitting next to Isabella, Liu Xing smelled a strange odor. He sniffed carefully and discovered it was the scent of some herbal medicine.

Realizing this, Liu Xing wanted to take a pharmacy test, but suddenly realized he didn't have any.

Liu Xing raised his eyebrows and asked KP004 in his mind, "KP, can I use medicine instead of pharmacy to test and find out what herbal smell this is?"
