Chapter 7 - Chapter seven: Foe or Friend

I heard footsteps approaching towards my room, I immediately hide this nameless man under my bed and then I heard someone's knocking on the door, when I open the door, one of the servant was there , He said, "my lady the dinner is served would you please come out to for dinner".

I thought for a second that when I'll be gone for dinner, this nameless man would probably runway and I can't let that happen because I have so many questions to ask, taking me out of my thoughts, the servant said, "My Lady" and I told him, " that I will skip dinner tonight because im not feeling to eat". He gave me a nod and turned away. I immediately closed the door and told that nameless man hiding under my bed to come out.

When he crawled out from beneath the bed,

beads of sweat clung to his face, damp strands of hair falling across his forehead, and his shirt clung to him, soaked through with sweat. I told him to sit down and offer him a glass of water.

Out of desperation, I asked him, "Who are you"

He took a sip of water and looked straight towards my face and said, "My name is Abrum and I'm a werewolf more likely an Alpha".

"What an alpha? what are you doing here in my room at this hour of night?" a shock flickered across her face, a storm of fear and wonder colliding in her earthly eyes.

"Yes!! but why are you so shocked? Have you ever met a werewolf?" his ocean eyes gleaming with both pride and challenge, as his voice carried the weight of certainty.

What could I possibly tell him, when I have never seen anything beyond the walls of this stone sanctuary, snapping me back to reality he asked again and I said, "No I haven't met one in my life, but you didn't seem like one and why did you come here?"

He smiled, a bright, almost intimate laugh hidden in his expression, before his gaze lingered on her puzzled face. and said, "umm were you expecting a sign board on my forehead saying I'm a werewolf? and I was wandering in the forest, coming too far, when I saw this royal fortress and I decided to explore it but when I reached towards the royal gate, I saw sentinels placing on watch, so I look around and saw this window opened, but because of the curtains I can't see inside, so I just decided to climb up and there I jumped inside this room but I didn't see anyone in here, just when I was looking around, I heard your footsteps approaching towards the door and I immediately hide behind the curtains, but you have sharp eyes and you saw me.

"I see so you aren't here as an adversary?"

after hearing what he said, it almost sounds too honest to not believe him and there's something about his eyes that were also trying to tell me that he's not lying.

No!! why would you think like that? He asked alara with a face wavered in a blur of uncle and letdown.

"You know! it's also not written on one's forehead if he's a foe or a friend! by the way my name is Alara!" she said to him with a smirky smile on her face.

I see! and are you a highness of this royal fortress? he asked her as if it's the only question that has been roaming in his mind.

Yes!! unfortunately I'm the princess of this stone sanctuary!! she told him with a burdened heart.

"Why the long face about being the princess?" he asked her, as if he had sensed the sudden change of her expression and the weight of her voice.

"I've never been elated about being a princess in this stone sanctuary because, being here only gives me isolation and misery, I never get to see the outside world" she confessed it all with a burdened heart and eyes shimmering with unshed tears.

Her angelic eyes glistened with unshed tears, and with every word she spoke, I longed to take her pain away, I said to her,

"if you don't mind can I ask why you're not allowed to go outside, I can perceive you must feel so desolate here".

"My father always told me that, we have foes everywhere around the castle and that they also have attacked us several times but luckily, we have enough sentinels to duel with them, I have tried to escape but I failed every time" she spoke, her eyes carrying unspoken grief.

I don't know but there's definitely something so wrong with the way she speaks, that I wanna get lost in the depths of her voice, after hearing what she said, I told her, "have you never try to talk to your father about, how desperate you are to see the outside world?"

"I try talking to him about it but he always makes excuses and never actually cares about my desperation to see beyond the walls of this stone sanctuary" she murmured, her face carrying the weight of exhaustion.

She then asked him, "can you help me escape this towering prison?" she asked with a sparkle of hope in her eyes!!

"Yesss! of course I can help you escape from here" he said with a calming smile on his lips.

"Oh really! I'll be very grateful to you this!"

she exclaimed eagerly .

The sparkle in her eyes, upon hearing I could help her escape this castle, made every risk of coming here worth it. He then said to her, ''but right now I have to go, since it's already too late"

"Ohh!! yes you should go but when will you come back again?" she asked him with a dull voice and a lonesome heart.

"I will come back soon!!" He spoke with a steady conviction in his voice, as if every word was a promise meant only for her.

"Can you promise me this?" she asked with a sparkly hope in her earthy eyes.

"Yes! I promise!!" He said making sure that every word play it's role.

"Wait here!! I'll be right back!" she said leaving him confused.

After ten minutes, she came back breathing heavily and said, "Now you can go, I did the watch and there are

not so many sentinels on the main door, you won't get caught" she told him making sure he won't get caught.

Much obliged! for this, He said with a slight smile.

She watched him slip away through the window, leaving her swallowed once more by the weight of solitude. she looked outside from the window, and saw him disappearing into the woods.

~~~~~
On my way back, my thoughts clung to her how every word matched the emotion on her face, and how her eyes seemed to glow with the faintest spark of joy. Upon returning to my dwelling, the old master asked me where I've been the whole day and that I shouldn't be wandering in the forest at the dark hours!!
I told him that while wandering in the forest today, I got lost in the woods and later I saw a royal fortress, which I also explored and I told him about the girl I met today in the castle, I told him that she is a princess of that royal fortress.
Upon hearing what he discovered today and who he met, the old master said, "you shouldn't have gone into that castle, they're your "RIVALS".
