It had been five days since Raya returned from the Hart mansion.
Five long days.
Six restless nights.
Six nights since she and Adrian had crossed a line neither of them had pretended didn't exist.
And in all that time, she hadn't seen him.
She hadn't heard his voice... not once.
No calls. No messages. Nothing.
It wasn't as though she hadn't tried. Raya had called him more times than she cared to admit, at different hours, under different excuses she told herself weren't excuses at all. Sometimes the call rang until it cut off. Other times, Stephen answered, polite and distant, always with the same response:
"The Boss is busy, He will call back when he is less busy."
Busy.
The word began to feel like a wall, solid, deliberate, impossible to climb.
Raya couldn't stop herself from wondering if Adrian was avoiding her.
Is he?
And if he was… why?
