Raya stood in her room, arms folded tightly around herself, her thoughts spiraling endlessly around Anna.
So much had happened in just one day, betrayal layered upon betrayal, and Raya couldn't stop imagining how Anna must be feeling right now. Shock. Pain. Humiliation. Fear. And worst of all, loneliness.
And there was nothing she could do.
The helplessness ate at her.
Later, the door opened quietly and Adrian walked in. He took one look at her and immediately noticed something was wrong. Raya hadn't moved from the couch. She hadn't gone to bed since the day he rejected a relationship with her.
She looked exhausted. Worn down.
Adrian leaned against the doorframe, arms crossed. "So....," he said lazily, "are you going to brood over your friend all day long?"
Raya didn't respond.
"I'm talking to you, Raya," Adrian added, irritation creeping into his voice.
"Can you just let me be?" she snapped without looking at him.
