Chapter 13 — Nami's Diary
Day 247
I never thought I'd be writing a diary like this. Genzo always said, "You've got no time for girly nonsense, Nami. Just draw your maps." But here I am, scribbling under the lamplight while Nojiko snores in the next room.
Maybe it's because ever since Sunny and Aqua came into our lives, everything feels… different. Lighter. Safer. And I don't want to forget even a single day.
---
First Impressions
When Sunny first walked into the village, I thought he was strange. Not scary-strange, just… different. He had this calm look in his eyes, like someone who knew too much. His clothes were odd, his way of speaking wasn't like anyone from Cocoyasi.
And Aqua? I almost laughed when I met her. She acted like some spoiled noble who'd lost her castle. Bossy, dramatic, always making Sunny carry her bags or pour her water. But then, in the evening, she'd sit on the docks with her feet in the water and giggle like a child. She and Sunny balance each other in a way I can't explain.
At first, I thought they were siblings. But no. They're… something else.
---
Eight Months Later
It's strange how quickly people can become part of your family.
Sunny helps Genzo repair fences, chops wood for the old women, even teaches some of the kids little games with shells and sticks. (I'll admit it—he cheats at those games. But the kids never notice. His smile is too cute for them to care.)
Aqua, on the other hand… she's like a storm that won't quit. She argues with Sunny about everything.
"Sunny, fetch me water!"
"You have two hands, don't you?"
"Mine are for beauty, not buckets!"
"Then starve."
They bicker so much that sometimes I wonder if they actually like each other. But every time Sunny sighs and does fetch the water, I see the way Aqua hides her grin.
I think I caught myself laughing more in these eight months than in the last eight years.

Sunny's Other Side
There's something about Sunny that unsettles me.
He's kind, he's gentle, he even looks… cute most of the time (ugh, I can't believe I'm writing that). But once—only once—I saw his smile change. It wasn't for us. It was for an enemy, someone foolish enough to threaten the village.
That smile… it wasn't human. Cold. Sharp. Like he was holding back a storm inside.
Aqua noticed too. She teased him later, calling it his "monster face." Sunny just shrugged, but I saw how carefully he keeps it hidden.
Only Aqua and… someone else he calls System and ego seem to understand that side of him.
For me? I want to believe in the Sunny who laughs when Aqua slips on a rock, or the Sunny who hands me a compass without me asking, just because he saw I was frustrated with my maps.
That's the Sunny I know.

…My Secret
Okay. I'll admit it, but only here in these pages.
Sometimes, when I'm with Sunny, my chest feels warm. My heart races like I've just run across the village. It's ridiculous. He's older, he's mysterious, and he's… well, Sunny.
It's just a small crush. Just a silly, harmless thing. Nothing more.
At least, that's what I keep telling myself.
---
End of Entry.
I don't know what tomorrow will bring. Maybe Aqua will trip again and blame Sunny. Maybe Sunny will carry another basket of oranges for Bell-mère. Maybe nothing exciting will happen at all.
But I'll write it down anyway. Because for the first time in a long time, my story feels worth recording.
