Chapter 63 - Idol or not

Sunday faded into memory and so did Hana's holiday, replaced by the glow of a bright Monday.

"Good morning," Professor Han began, setting his books down. "Let's review last week's notes before we discuss your next project."

Pages rustled. Pens scratched. Jin didn't move, just lounged in his chair like he was allergic to effort.

When the review ended, the professor clasped his hands. "Now for your new assignment. You'll work in pairs on Cultural Heritage & Society."

Groans filled the room.

"The task," he continued, "is to choose a historical or cultural landmark—capture its story through photographs and research. The photos must speak."

"I will assign your partners," Professor Han added.

Groans rippled through the class.

"Professor, Hana and I make the best pair!" Nari protested.

"Absolutely not, Nari. You and Hana will not work together."

Students chuckled. Jin leaned back, hood shadowing his face, drumming his fingers lazily against the desk as though the world couldn't touch him.

"My dear Seo Hana…" Professor Han began.

Hana shot up in her seat. "No, sir. I won't do it!" The room erupted in laughter.

Professor Han chuckled. "You don't even know what I was about to say."

"I know it never ends well whenever you start with 'my dear Seo Hana,'" she countered, earning another wave of laughter.

"You'll get a D if you refuse," he warned lightly.

She sank back down. "…Alright. I'll do it."

Professor Han's eyes flicked toward the back. "You'll be with— Jin Haneul."

The room seemed to still. Hana froze mid-note, slowly turning to him. Jin tilted his chin up, meeting her stare with a smirk that screamed good luck surviving me.

"Professor—" Hana tried, but he lifted a hand.

"No complaints. Miss Seo, you're one of my top students. Mr. Haneul is new here. I expect this partnership to balance itself."

Whispers and muffled laughter swept through the rows. Hana's cheeks burned. Jin? Of all people?

Professor Han continued. "Your assignment: the Seodaemun Prison History Hall. A site marked by struggle, sacrifice, resilience. I expect thoughtful analysis—and meaningful photographs."

Hana's stomach sank. A prison? With him? She needed this grade to be perfect, and now her success depended on the one student who clearly couldn't care less.
