The Kamaboko Squad had just finished stuffing themselves with a light breakfast when their kasugai crows came in with another mission for them. One that would take them to Mount Natagumo.
I leaned on the engawa, my sunglasses perched precariously on my face as I watched the trio hype themselves up. Inosuke was vibrating with barely restrained excitement, Zenitsu was already pale, as if Muzan himself had reserved a spot under his futon, and Tanjiro… well, Tanjiro was as steady as ever.
'As expected of my student.' I nodded in my head like some Young Master or whatever the fuck they called themselves.
"Sensei! Mitsuri-san… Thank you for looking after us. We'll do our best on this mission!" Tanjiro bowed, the sincerity practically dripping off of him.
I waved him off lazily while Mitsuri smiled and patted his head. "Yeah yeah… sure kid. Just go kill the spiders already,"
"S-spiders?!" Zenitsu wailed.
"Heh, sorry. Spoilers I guess." I smirked.
Tanjiro dragged his companions away before they could complain or cause any further delays in their mission. I knew where they were headed, of course. Mount Natagumo was a whole arc in the anime.
The mountain was supposed to be Lower Moon Five's stomping grounds. Lui or whatever his name was… Spider Boy. He would have been a massive challenge to the Tanjiro Squad. Fortunately for them, I had already dealt with Rui a few months ago.
'Gave him the Ol' Gege Akutami special and off screened him… real tragic.'
I started chuckling to myself, drawing Mitsuri's attention. She looked at me with a puzzled look.
"What is it Satoru-kun?"
"Nothing, nothing… just thought of something dumb."
She hummed and leaned against me, I pulled her close and kissed the side of her head making her smile.
"Satoru… should we really let them go alone?"
"We aren't their baby sitters… besides, they'll be fine. At most they'll get traumatised if they don't win but last I checked, trauma builds character. It'll be character development for them in any scenario."
She pouted, "You're terrible."
"Nah, I'm terribly effective." I smirk.
[Scene Break]
Mei-Mei purred as I brushed her fur, I was going to have her deliver a message back to HQ. She had just delivered a message from Kagaya letting me know that he'll notify the rest of the Hashira about a potential new threat.
"Come on Mei… just deliver the message."
Mei-Mei pouted and swatted at my hands as I tried to put the folded up letter in her collar.
"Get your filthy hands off me master… you've been touching that big boobed bimbo all day."
"Huh? Did you just talk?"
Mei-Mei looked at me as if I was an idiot. "Nyaan."
"Stupid master… can't even—
"You did talk!" I pointed at her.
The fluffy white cat swatted my finger and hissed. "Don't point your finger at me… grrr… I'll bwite you."
"Pffft… 'bwite', AHAHAHA… are you gonna get 'weally weally angwy'?" I laughed.
Mei-Mei pounced and would have landed on my face if I didn't have Limitless active. She swatted at my barrier again and again.
PAP PAP PAP PAP
"Baka Baka! Stupid Albino Master!" Mei-Mei hissed.
I wasn't going to question a talking cat. There were already talking birds in the world, what more was a cat. Just then, a thought crossed my mind.
"Can everyone hear you talk?"
"Hah? What kind of a dumb question is that? Of course everyone can hear me talk, unless I don't want them to hear me."
"Wait… why are you only talking now? I've had you for almost a year now?"
"Because you never listened stupid master." Mei-Mei scoffed.
"All you ever did was meow at me." I frowned.
"Not my fault you didn't understand me then." Mei-Mei started grooming herself.
"So it's my fault?"
"Yes." She flicked her tail at me before snatching the note out of my hand and dashing off without so much as a look back.
Just then, Mitsuri came back, she had gone off to get dressed when I told her that we were going to go somewhere so I could try to find answers for what happened the previous day.
"I'm ready Satoru-kun." She smiled.
[Scene Break]
I teleported us directly to Tamayo's residence. Mitsuri hung around me long enough that she was used to my teleportation. She didn't get nauseous anymore and had even asked to be teleported by herself once to test it.
Yushiro glared at me as usual when we made our presence known. Tamayo stood behind him with her usual unreadable expression.
"What do you want?" Yushiro grunted out.
"Hmm? Oh nothing… just come to show off my super sexy girlfriend." I slid to the side and waved my arms at Mitsuri as if presenting her in a game show.
Mitsuri blushed and waved at Yushiro and Tamayo. Yushiro grit his teeth and stomped forward.
"Oh yeah? No matter how cute she is, Miss Tamayo is so much cuter!"
"Nuh uh." I denied.
"What?"
"My Mitsuri is so much better, she's got pink and green hair, and have you seen her curves?!"
"No, Miss Tamayo is better! She's got that cool attitude and a sweet laugh."
"Hah? That's nothing compared to my Mitsuri-chan! She could make even the strongest Kizuki bow before her with a single smile!"
"You! I'll have you know Miss Tamayo has the b—
"Yushiro…" Tamayo called out gently.
Yushiro stiffened and slowly turned to her, "Yes Lady Tamayo?"
"Please go fetch some tea."
"A-alright…" Yushiro bowed and quickly vanished to go make tea.
Mitsuri looked between me and Tamayo. Her face still slightly flushed.
"Satoru-san… I assume you're here to get information on your mysterious energy and Abe no Seimei's notes on that fight?"
"Bing Bing Bing… got it right in one Tamayo-chan." I grinned while giving her a thumbs up.
She sighed, "Just call me Tamayo…"
"Hai hai, Ta Ma Yo - chan." My grin only widened when I saw a vein throb on the side of her head.
"Follow me," she got up with a sigh, "I'll take you to the library."
Mitsuri stayed seated, humming as she looked around the room. It didn't seem like she wanted to come along with me. I didn't mind, I wasn't that clingy.
Tamayo led me through a few doors eventually ending up in front of a slightly open sliding door. She slid it open the rest of the way revealing a laboratory. Several shelves lined the walls along with a small desk in the center of the room.
She didn't say much else before turning around and going back to the living room. Shrugging, I went into the room and started looking through the shelves. A few books caught my eye. Taking them from the shelf, I sat down and started reading.
[Scene Break] (POV Shift)
September 13, 945
I have heard of a strange being who goes by the title of Ryomen Sukuna. The previous Onmyoji have recorded that this so-called Cursed Being is nearly 300 years old. While it is possible to extend one's life through the arts, it is impossible for the spirit to last that long.
September 20, 945
I have looked into this Ryomen Sukuna. It seems that he was formerly a powerful sorcerer. It also appears that he has access to some sort of dark energy.
September 24, 945
The dark energy is known as Cursed Energy. A type of energy tied to negative emotions. I must look into this further. On another note, a rumor of demons haunting villages has reached my ears. Whispers of another name, Kibutsuji Muzan, a former noble, are shrouded in mystery.
September 27, 945
I have looked into this Muzan fellow, all records of him disappear after the doctor who was providing treatment for his ailing body was found dead. The available records state that Muzan miraculously recovered but then disappeared into the night. I have more pressing matters, I'll look into this later.
November 16, 969
Years have passed, my duties have not allowed me to look into this matter of Cursed Energy or any special types of sorcery. However, a man came to court today. He claimed he was from the Gojo clan, he asked for help in dealing with this Ryomen Sukuna fellow. Kitbutsuji Muzan's name resurfaced today.
December 28, 969
I have seen Ryomen Sukuna's powers with my own eyes. It is hard to believe that such a being was once human. He seems to revel in the chaos he commands. His power seems to bend the very will of the planet itself. A Muzan approached me today asking for help finding a certain flower. Unfortunately I could not assist him. He left before the sun rose.
February 11, 975
It has been many years since I joined the fight against the calamity known as Ryomen Sukuna. The three clans have lost countless members and are growing desperate. More rumors of demons hunting in the night have sprung up.
February 14, 975
They've done it, the Kamo clan working alongside the Gojo clan have come up with a solution to finally defeat Sukuna. The cost is steep but they are all willing to pay for it. The plan is for the elites of the Zenin and Gojo clans to attack from the front while the main bulk of the allied forces complete their ritual. I will assist them in this, as an advisor to the Emperor it is my duty to protect the realm from any calamity no matter what form it takes.
February 20, 975
Several days have passed since the battle ended. The cost of victory was steep indeed. Any ritual involving souls is bound to cost the caster greatly. In this case, the Kamo clan used the souls of all the sorcerers in that battlefield to erase Ryomen Sukuna from reality. Their spell was powerful, not only did it tear Sukuna's soul asunder and remove it from this plane of existence, but it has also altered reality to the point where no one remembers the King of Curses spare those who took part in the ritual.
February 21, 975
I was called to a scene of horror on this day. Though the clans defeated Sukuna, the King of Curses had one last cruel surprise. An attack that reached beyond space itself, an attack that targeted the bloodlines of those who felled him in battle. Each of the three clans is now extinct, none survived.
February 14, 976
A year has passed since the defeat of the King of Curses. The number of supernatural attacks have significantly decreased. Muzan has faded into obscurity, I know for certain that he has dabbled in dark arts that have turned him into something like a Youkai.
December 31, 999
The turning of a new era… I feel it in my aged bones. The world is shifting once more. Humanity has lost the ability to inherit and use Cursed Energy. Perhaps it was due to the deaths of the three great clans alongside Ryomen Sukuna. Only time will tell.
October 29, 1005
It had been many years since the defeat of the calamity known as Ryomen Sukuna. I feel as if my time is coming. Before I pass on, I wish to record my last prediction here in this diary.
One day, three souls will converge. One soul creates the body, the other two fight for dominance. The Lost Soul will emerge victorious. As another calamity looms, so does a saviour. The honoured one returns, and with him great change will echo through the world.
