Since demons could ignore physical injuries, the heart wasn't a fatal weak point for them either.
Yuu was willing to trade a pierced heart for a more advantageous position.
Black Wolf Fang's claws sank into Yuu's chest. Just as he was about to pull them out to inflict further damage—
Yuu endured the excruciating pain and took another step forward. Simultaneously, he spat a mouthful of blood directly onto Black Wolf Fang's face, blinding him.
"You! Even I'm not this despicable. Dare to fight me fairly and squarely?" Black Wolf Fang shook his head vigorously, trying to fling the blood from his face.
One of his hands was buried in Yuu's chest, but his other hand wasn't idle either. Relying on instinct, it viciously clawed toward Yuu's neck.
If Black Wolf Fang managed to grab his neck and twist off his head, Yuu would have no chance to resist. Black Wolf Fang wouldn't give him any time to regenerate.
Yuu refused to meet force with force. With Black Wolf Fang's vision blurred, his attack trajectory was less precise, and his speed had slowed noticeably. Yuu seized the opportunity, his own hand snapping out to grab the incoming wrist.
Then, using Black Wolf Fang's own momentum, Yuu guided the arm upward with a subtle twist, completely deflecting the attack's force and direction.
At the same time, Yuu's right hand formed a rigid, knife-like edge, chopping down brutally onto the arm Black Wolf Fang had lodged inside him.
After witnessing Black Wolf Fang easily regenerate from a head-exploding injury, Yuu immediately understood a fundamental truth: when a demon fights a demon, you can't fear injury. Because for a demon, while pain is real, no wound is truly significant.
Black Wolf Fang never expected this newborn demon to possess such ferocity and such underhanded tactics.
A sharp, intense pain shot through his right arm from the forearm, followed by his entire elbow joint twisting unnaturally. The bones in his arm had been snapped. Now, Black Wolf Fang's entire right arm hung limp and useless.
Black Wolf Fang despised this kind of fighting style more than anything—this reliance on scheming and underhanded tactics.
Combat was supposed to be a head-on confrontation! It was about clashing directly, strength against strength. Whether you could win or not, a.-pounding, frontal assault was what Black Wolf Fang craved.
"Brat, you've successfully pissed me off."
"The gap in our strength can't be bridged by cheap tricks. I'm going to tear off your limbs, sever your head, and let the sun burn you to ashes when it rises."
When dealing with a newborn demon, Black Wolf Fang hadn't initially planned to use his full power.
This hunting ground had originally been shared by two demons. But then, a Demon Slayer Hunter from the Corps had arrived somehow, and this hunter was exceptionally powerful.
The other demon had been instantly annihilated by the hunter.
Black Wolf Fang had watched from a distance that time. Seeing the outcome filled him with lingering fear, because he had initially considered challenging the hunter himself. Thankfully, the other demon had gotten there first.
Logically, he should have left this hunting ground to avoid the hunter.
But for some reason, a subconscious reluctance kept him here. Even with the threat of death, he couldn't bring himself to leave.
Recently, that hunter had been staying in the town below, forcing Black Wolf Fang to lie low. And that town was his primary source of food.
It was only last night, when a child got lost in the snowstorm, that Black Wolf Fang had managed a decent meal.
Using his full power now… would mean going hungry again.
He could only hope that hunter would leave soon.
"Blood Demon Art: Armory of Blades!"
Black Wolf Fang was no ordinary demon. He had already mastered a Blood Demon Art. Though he'd only recently acquired it and wasn't yet proficient, it was more than enough to deal with a newborn demon.
A massive cleaver, about one and a half meters long and over twenty centimeters wide, materialized in Black Wolf Fang's left hand.
The weapon's hilt, reinforced with metal, was shaped into sharp, angular facets. The distance was too close, and his left arm was extended, making a slashing motion impossible. So, Black Wolf Fang simply drove the metal-reinforced hilt viciously toward the side of Yuu's face.
Hearing the whistling wind, Yuu's heart jolted. He jerked his head sideways, trying to avoid the brutal impact.
But the blade had appeared too suddenly in Black Wolf Fang's hand, and the hilt was substantial. The distance was simply too short.
Caught completely off guard by the Blood Demon Art, Yuu was instantly put at a severe disadvantage.
Combat could change in the blink of an eye.
Yuu evaded as much as he could, but the sharp, metal-bound hilt still struck him. A horrific cavity tore open on the right side of his face, the skin and muscle ripped away.
With Yuu's head grievously wounded, Black Wolf Fang followed up with a powerful kick, sending Yuu flying backward.
Yuu slammed into the cave wall, his entire body wracked with pain.
The moment he hit the ground, Yuu tried to adjust his posture and rise.
But Black Wolf Fang had no intention of giving him that chance. The giant cleaver swept down mercilessly toward Yuu's neck, cleanly severing his head from his body.
Then, Black Wolf Fang bent his leg and kicked the disembodied head upward before him. The tip of the cleaver pierced through Yuu's skull with force, pinning it to the cave wall.
And Yuu was plunged into the immense shock of his first decapitation.
If not for the fact that, despite the agonizing pain, his consciousness remained intact—allowing him to see Black Wolf Fang's triumphant, mocking expression—Yuu would have almost believed he was truly dead.
"Pah. Thought you could challenge Lord Black Wolf Fang? Just wait for death."
Black Wolf Fang looked down scornfully at Yuu. He stomped down, crushing the limbs of Yuu's headless body lying on the ground, then sat directly on top of the torso.
Yuu remained silent. The sensation was incredibly bizarre. Being able to witness his own headless body having its limbs broken was a truly terrible experience.
"So… I'm still this weak after all…"
Sitting on Yuu's headless body, Black Wolf Fang (disdained to properly set his own broken bone). He simply tore off his left arm, and after a few breaths, a completely new, intact arm regenerated in its place.
"Hey, brat. I was kind enough to offer you food earlier, and you refused. Any thoughts now?"
This was the victor's time for mockery.
Yuu's face remained expressionless. He didn't utter a word, because he wasn't ready to give up yet.
He was currently attempting to reconnect with his body, testing whether he could still control it.
He could feel it—even though his head was separated from his body, a faint, tenuous connection still existed between them.
Moreover, under Yuu's active concentration, this connection was strengthening. It felt like it wouldn't be long before he could directly command his body remotely.
"Brat, I'm talking to you."
"Say something! Weren't you so impressive just a moment ago?"
Black Wolf Fang curled the corner of his lip slightly, revealing a subtle yet venomous smile.
Yuu's ignoring attitude didn't anger Black Wolf Fang. Instead, it gave him a mischievous idea. He watched Yuu, making no further moves.
After three minutes, Yuu finally regained full control of his body. He planned to secretly regenerate his limbs first, then launch a sudden, explosive counterattack. There might still be a chance to fight back.
However, Black Wolf Fang suddenly burst into loud laughter…
