Chapter 26 - Chapter 26: The Gate of the Abyss Wide Open

No one knew if it was fear of the suited hunter, or fear of the holy sword in his hand, but the Godslaying Spear, which even a group of veteran Stellaron Hunters had a hard time handling, was actually being pressed down and beaten back by just that one suited hunter.

Thinking he had finally gotten his moment of pride, the suited hunter fought the Godslaying Spear with one hand on the sword, while turning his head, wanting to fully enjoy the wonderful expressions on everyone's faces.

But he was disappointed. Not a single person present cheered for him. Instead, they all silently backed away a few steps, looking at him as if looking at an idiot.

"Ah? What kind of expressions are those? Could it be that you've all been dumbfounded by my powerful strength!" The suited man grew a little flustered and annoyed.

"Zero, you better hurry up and throw away that sword, fighting with it in hand is really too dangerous!"

Silver Wolf's brows were tightly furrowed. Normally she would never care about this kind of fool, but too many had died today, and she didn't want to see more meaningless sacrifices.

"Get lost, you dimwitted little brat, you must just be eyeing my treasure sword!" The suited hunter, Zero, backed up a few steps, moving ten meters away from the others.

"This sword has already been agreed to be mine, no one's taking it away!"

"Idiot! All the weapons created by Emiya will suddenly disappear. That this one has lasted this long is already a miracle." Silver Wolf's brows tightened even more. She couldn't figure out why fools like this could join the Stellaron Hunters.

"If that weapon vanished right at the crucial moment of battle, you wouldn't even know how you died!"

"Alright, alright, since you won't let me fight, I'll just take your advice and leave right away!" The suited hunter tilted his head, glaring at everyone present, his tone full of threat.

"This sword is mine, whoever dares to take it, don't blame me for turning against you without mercy."

As soon as those words left his mouth, everyone's expressions turned completely cold. They just stared as the suited man swaggered off, and not one of them stepped forward to stop him.

Buzz!

Suddenly, the Godslaying Spear trembled violently once, and then, at lightning speed, flew straight toward the suited hunter.

The suited hunter didn't panic in the least. The reason he was chosen as a Stellaron Hunter was exactly because of his powerful combat ability.

Now that he had a divine weapon in hand and the world was his, he thought he might as well take this opportunity to claim that spear too.

Unsurprisingly, in the very next moment, the suited hunter's grin froze on his face forever.

At the instant the Godslaying Spear reached him, the holy sword suddenly vanished without a trace, leaving him without any power to resist as the spear pierced him clean through.

"Silver Wolf, was it you… playing tricks!" In the very last moment of his life, the suited man still suspected it was his comrade's doing, never once imagining it was Emiya's handiwork.

"Hahaha, you've truly laughed me stupid!" Emiya's laughter rang out once again, the Godslaying Spear automatically returning to his side to spin around him. "But it's all thanks to you, that I finally won this grand gamble!"

Vera's consciousness had been sealed not only by word-spirit and binding belts, but also isolated inside a specially-made glass jar. The Godslaying Spear had just been born and hadn't yet formed a close bond with Vera. Emiya guessed that even if the glass jar was broken, it might still be impossible to successfully awaken her.

So Emiya made a gamble, a grand gamble with both his and Vera's lives as stakes. He bet that in Vera's heart, he held supreme importance. He bet that seeing him killed before her eyes would deeply shock Vera's soul at its very core.

And clearly, he had bet right. The Godslaying Spear felt Vera's earth-shaking fury and of its own will began clearing away enemies for her, protecting the most important Lord Emiya for her.

"Not good, kill him, kill him with everything you've got!" Someone shouted loudly, and the others instantly snapped back to their senses, all unleashing their strongest abilities at Emiya.

BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!

The battleship was blasted open with a gaping hole a hundred meters across. Energy poured endlessly downward, even blowing the mountain supporting the battleship clean in half.

For a while, the roar of explosions filled everything, shockwaves stirring up a sandstorm that rose high into the sky.

"Cough, cough, cough! What the hell are you all doing, you better give me a reasonable explanation!"

Kafka, wanting to sleep peacefully without disturbance, had specially activated the soundproof system in her room, and even cast sleep-suggestion on herself. But while sleeping, suddenly the ceiling caved in, nearly burying her alive inside.

She barely managed to escape, only to find that after just a little while, the whole damn battleship had been blown up by this bunch of bastards.

"Kafka, Emiya's corpse came back to life…"

Silver Wolf's brows were tightly furrowed into a knot. She couldn't explain the strange things that had just happened, so she simply replayed the footage recorded by the camera robots for Kafka to see, while also watching it herself again to try and find some clues.

"Oh, this guy sure knows how to survive. Could it be that he and Blade are blood brothers?" Kafka's lips couldn't help but curve up into a smile.

"Blade… we don't know where he was blown away to by that strange weapon." Silver Wolf sneaked a glance at Kafka, just in time to see that smile vanish back into her lips, and she couldn't help but secretly sigh.

"Then I'll go to outer space to look for Blade. You all recover the Stellaron and retreat quickly." Kafka hurriedly gave herself an assignment so she could leave, but was forcefully pulled back by Silver Wolf.

"You can't leave. That little girl should have escaped, and my Aether Editing failing is proof." Silver Wolf pressed her lips together.

Though she didn't want Kafka to face Emiya again, with the situation here as it was, if Kafka wasn't present there might well be more casualties.

"You go recover the Stellaron with them, and try your best to also capture that girl. I'll go search for Blade in space, and while I'm at it, try if I can use Aether Editing to call more reinforcements over."

Kafka instinctively wanted to refuse, but she was, after all, a member of the Stellaron Hunters. If she kept shirking responsibility like this, it would really be hard to justify.

Zzzraaap!

Huge lightning bolts suddenly massed across the sky. The once-peaceful heavens began to change with storm and shadow, as if some world-ending disaster was arriving.

"Not good, the spatial fluctuations are getting stronger, retreat to space first!"

Silver Wolf was badly shaken. This situation looked very much like when that girl had opened a world-rift, but this time it was a million times more intense, definitely not something their small numbers could withstand.

'Elio's prophecy, it really hadn't been wrong!'

"Support, release shields with full strength, everyone grab onto me!" Silver Wolf gathered the energy of all the robots beneath her feet, ignited it, and the violent blast launched them like meteors, quickly pushing them out of Yellow Star's range.

From space, overlooking Yellow Star, they finally saw what had happened, and cold sweat poured down like waterfalls, soaking through everyone's clothes.

They saw a pitch-black rift stretching a thousand miles, parting Yellow Star right down the middle. And the width of the rift was still rapidly expanding, as if an abyssal demon were opening its pitch-black eyes.

"Rooaaar!"

Obviously in outer space, there couldn't be sound transmission. Yet all the Stellaron Hunters heard without exception the high-pitched roar of dragons, the dense cries of battle, as though the gates of hell had been flung open and countless monsters were rushing out.

Even though they had weathered countless storms in their lives, the fear in their hearts couldn't help but rapidly grow and swell.
