Chapter 3 - Chapter 3: Got a Summon

Scene – On a planet called Elaria, inside the kingdom of Uselia, deep in a forest, a human appears through summoning. That human is none other than Yatrans.

Yatrans – Huh? (confused yet excited tone) I've been summoned… finally! But, where exactly am I?

Scene – Yatrans looks around, but all he can see is nothing but dense forest.

Yatrans – Ahhn-ahnn… so this is a forest, huh? I see. Hmm… God said I have a skill named "Material Art"… so how do I check it? (closes his eyes, thinking deeply)

Scene – With his eyes closed, Yatrans suddenly notices something — a button-like shape floating in the darkness.

Yatrans – Wait, what's this?

Scene – He opens his eyes, but nothing is there.

Yatrans – Huh? Then maybe…

Scene – Closing his eyes again, the button reappears.

Yatrans – Ohh, so that's how it works. If I close my eyes, I can see this option. If I open them, it disappears. Nice! So, it's off right now… let's turn it on. Now what? Nothing's happening… maybe if I open my eyes…

Scene – Yatrans opens his eyes, and suddenly, a floating screen appears in front of him, filled with text.

Yatrans – What…?! A real status screen appeared! Hmm… Age 20? My age is 20 now? Oh right, God did say age might change a little. Anyway… Name: Yatrans. Gender: Male. Skill: 1. Magic: 0. Hmm… looks like there's no ranking or level system here… wait, what if I click on the skill?

Scene – Yatrans taps on the skill section, and a new screen pops up.

Yatrans – Wow..! So this is it. My skill page… I only have one skill — Unique Skill: Material Art. Ooooh… it even has EXP and Level! Level 1, EXP 0. Hmm… so if I want to gain EXP and level up… (closes eyes and thinks) maybe I need to either use this skill a lot or kill monsters… yeah, that must be it. (opens eyes and speaks)

Scene – He closes his eyes again to switch off the screen.

Yatrans – Come to think of it, this is kinda like a VR headset system.

Scene – He notices an iron sword lying near him.

Yatrans – An iron sword? Oh, I see… since I don't know how to use my skill properly yet, they gave me this as support. (happy and excited tone) But… wait, I don't even know how to use a sword! (suddenly sad tone) If only they had given me a gun-type weapon, that would've been perfect… (complaining tone) Anyway, let's move forward, find a city or a village. Hmm… a guild, yeah, that's where I might get some help.

Scene – Yatrans begins walking while lost in thought, when suddenly the bushes shake and he hears a sound.

Yatrans – Hmm! Someone's there!

Scene – Yatrans quickly pulls out his sword and readies himself for battle. Suddenly, a rabbit appears — but its skin is as hard as iron and its eyes glow in a strange color.

Yatrans – Huh? A rabbit? (cute, friendly, lovely tone) Wait… so even the cute creatures of this world are monsters?! (suddenly serious and alert)

Scene – The rabbit leaps toward Yatrans, but he dodges just in time.

Yatrans – Knew it… -_-!

Scene – Yatrans runs toward the rabbit and slashes at its neck, but the rabbit's iron-hard skin makes it extremely difficult. After pushing all his strength, the blade barely makes a scratch — blood seeps out, but then…

Scene – CRACK! The sword snaps in half.

Yatrans – Huh?! What?! W-wait-wait-WAIT! This is cheating!! I'm not playing anymore! (horrified, sad, mad, childish tone)

Scene – The rabbit pulls out the broken blade piece from its neck and throws it aside.

Yatrans – No other choice… I have to defeat it with just this broken sword! If I can't even kill this thing, I won't even be able to touch stronger enemies later! (suddenly serious and slightly mad tone)

Scene – The rabbit's teeth suddenly grow longer like spikes, and it snaps them off, throwing them at Yatrans.

Yatrans – Huh?! Game over already?! That fast?!

Scene – But the rabbit's aim misses, and instead hits a tree behind Yatrans. The tree instantly withers and dies, all its branches and leaves crumbling down.

Yatrans – Huh?! What the hell was that!! (scared voice)

Scene – The rabbit regrows its teeth, this time aiming directly at Yatrans.

Yatrans – Hmm… if I can't break its body, then I'll aim at its mouth instead!

Scene – Yatrans dodges the rabbit's attack and lunges forward, thrusting his broken sword directly into the rabbit's face. The blade pierces through — the rabbit collapses, dead.

Yatrans – Hahh… finally, it's over… (exhausted voice) Hmm… if I'm right, I can probably sell this at the guild. Monster parts like skin, meat, or blood should fetch a good price — especially since this skin is so tough. Yeah, let's do that.

Scene – Yatrans puts the broken sword back in its holder and drags the rabbit's corpse along.

Scene – Three hours later, Yatrans is still wandering inside the forest.

Yatrans – Damn, this forest is huge! I don't even know how long I've been walking… I'm exhausted, starving, and constantly dodging monsters…

Scene – Suddenly, a wolf appears, but Yatrans hides in time, and it passes by.

Yatrans – Please… just show me a village, a city, some humans… anything!

Scene – At last, the forest ends, and in the distance, about 4–5 km away, he spots a city filled with people coming and going.

Yatrans – Finally!! You could've shown me this earlier! (excited tone)

Scene – Yatrans runs toward the city and reaches the entrance, but two guards stop him.

Yatrans – Huh?

Scene – The two guards are human.

Guard 1 – ID card?

Yatrans – Don't have one.

Guard 1 – Then entry pass?

Yatrans – Nope, don't have that either.

Guard 1 – Then you can't enter. Unless… did some royal family invite you?

Yatrans – No.

Guard 1 – Then sorry, friend. Without any of these, you can't go inside. It's the rule of our country.

Yatrans – But I've been traveling through that forest for hours, I'm exhausted, starving, and barely managed to kill this rabbit while dodging other monsters! Please, let me in!

Guard 1 – Haahh… fine, then show us your home card.

Yatrans – Home… card?

Guard 1 – Wait, you don't even have a home card?!

Yatrans – Nope…

Guard 1 – A home card proves which village or city you were born in. Don't tell me you don't have one?!

Yatrans – I told you, I don't!

Guard 1 – Then which country are you from? If not, at least tell me the name of your village or city.

Yatrans – I don't have a home…

Guard 1 – You don't… have a home?!

Yatrans (thinking) – I can't tell them I was summoned by a god… no, better not. But then… what else should I say?
