Chapter 13 - Chapter 13: The Hunt Begins

The Service Staff was furious!

But fortunately, she was a professional. Suppressing her anger, she brought Keli three drinks, and even politely sat down and chatted with Keli for a while before leaving.

Her professionalism completely overshadowed a certain trash game that just walks away if you don't order alcohol.

After the other person left, Kazuma sat down next to Keli and whispered.

"Hey, aren't you afraid of being suspected of being a Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department plainclothes officer by acting so peculiar?"

Keli shook his finger.

"No, if they were truly here to gather information, they would definitely act like normal bar patrons.

Can you imagine a plainclothes police officer wearing an anime-themed shirt and carrying a glow stick following you?"

When Kazuma thought about it, it really was true!

Kazuma unzipped the mouth of his mask and put the straw to his lips, while Keli simply discarded the straw and raised his stemmed glass to his mouth to sip.

However, although their movements seemed grand, the amount they drank was minimal, as they had decided to make that one drink last until the shop closed!

Despite being a bar, there was a small screen at the counter silently broadcasting the latest news.

"A murderer has appeared in Ōta Ward, suspected to be affiliated with the University of Tokyo..."

"Due to nearby public safety issues, Public Hikawa High School has announced that it will postpone the start date by one week. Parents, please rest assured."

"The Meteorological Agency predicts that the Fukushima region may experience a major typhoon in the summer."

Although the two were sitting, their eyes darted left and right.

Keli would check the door, preventing any Tokyo Metropolitan Police Department personnel from coming to arrest them. He would then check if anyone in the venue was exchanging items, and then look at the back door, where a person clearly guarding the venue's security wore sunglasses, making it impossible to discern where his gaze was directed.

Kazuma would look at the girls in the dance floor, their navels exposed despite the cold weather. He would then look at the professional on the DJ booth, dressed in a low-cut top and constantly swaying. Then he would look at some booths where hostesses had been ordered, unable to take it all in.

However, it was clear that things wouldn't happen that quickly, and the two were prepared to observe for several more days.

Just then, with the welcoming sound at the door that could make an old pope faint, another group of people walked in.

"Wow, Tokyo really does things well here."

As soon as that group entered, they attracted Keli's attention.

Because they seemed to be here for the first time, their voices were slightly loud, even piercing through the background's deafening music. And although they seemed unfamiliar with the place, their objective was very clear: they directly waved and walked towards the yakuza member in the corner who was clearly guarding the place.

That person talked with them for a while, and soon called someone else to lead them towards the private rooms.

Keli elbowed Kazuma beside him.

"Go to the parking lot and see if you can find their car. You can check if the exhaust pipe is hot."

Kazuma was somewhat reluctant, wanting to ask why Keli didn't go, but in the end, under Keli's gaze, he gave in and left with some displeasure.

Normal people shouldn't touch an exhaust pipe; its temperature is extremely high just after parking. Kazuma couldn't die, so he could be used like an animal.

Soon, Kazuma returned, with a hint of surprise in his eyes as he leaned closer.

"Two cars, they should be the ones from earlier, both private cars from Fushimatsu-cho."

"Very good, we just don't know if these people will leave."

Japanese license plates are quite abstract; to get a plate, one must confirm they have a fixed parking space in that region to get that region's license plate.

And even Tokyo isn't uniformly 'Tokyo' at the beginning; it's separated. For example, if you have a garage in Setagaya Ward, the upper right corner of the license plate will be the kanji 'Setagaya.' For Shinagawa Ward, it will be 'Shinagawa.'

Although wealthy people might rent a long-term garage in Tokyo and get a Tokyo plate for appearances, even if they don't live in Tokyo, to be a 'spiritual Tokyoite.'

But it was clear that the group from earlier didn't seem to be leaders, and the cars they drove were likely shared by the organization, so there wasn't as much fuss about it.

However, Keli hadn't expected such excessive luck. He had just heard that the area was related to Fushimatsu, and now people from there had arrived.

And combining this with meeting the village chief earlier, and the appearance of something 'edible' whenever he was hungry.

He glanced at Sato Kazuma beside him.

Keli increasingly felt that keeping this lucky idiot by his side was very necessary.

As expected of that scoundrel whose luck was high enough to steal a goddess's panties!

But unfortunately, the two sat there until the bar was about to close, and those people never came out. It seemed they were planning to stay overnight.

Helplessly, at 4 AM, Keli and Kazuma left the bar.

However, perhaps because the Human-Faced Dog they had eaten earlier hadn't been fully digested, neither of them felt hungry or sleepy.

Kazuma suggested they rest at a nearby park first, so the two went to the park and drank some water.

Many media outlets promote that Japanese tap water is drinkable, but in reality, only drinking fountains installed in places like schools and parks are truly potable. These things are essentially the same as buying a machine anywhere, and many old facilities might not be very clean. One can only say that since they eat raw river fish, just go along with them.

Keli went to the park restroom and was speechless to see a sign on the toilet that read "No Eating Here."

This kind of sign isn't just in parks; it's even more common in office buildings and schools. Because of Japan's peculiar social hierarchy, there are genuinely many people like Bochi-chan who hide in corners to eat. And because Japanese public toilets are mostly stalls and can be occupied for a long time, these notices exist. After they were put up, the little social phobics' preferred spots shifted from restrooms to rooftops and stairwells.

Shaking his hand, letting the water cling to it splash the mirror, Keli walked out of the restroom, but was met with a somewhat anxious Kazuma.

"Over there!" Kazuma pointed to the park entrance.

"I just saw those two cars drive past there! And they had a truck with them!"

Upon hearing Kazuma's words, Keli frowned and rushed out of the park.

But it was already too late; only a slowly departing truck remained.

Keli narrowed his eyes, jotting down the license plate in the darkness, then turned to look at Kazuma.

"Do you know how to get to Saitama from Tokyo?"

"I know..." Kazuma, who had caught up, panting, with his mask unzipped, instinctively replied, then immediately realized something and waved his hands repeatedly.

"No! That place is on the other side of Tokyo!"

To precisely intercept a car heading to Saitama, the location could only be the bridge from Arakawa Ward to Adachi Ward. After passing there, it would be hard to say where the car would go next.

But Adachi and Ōta are almost the farthest two wards in Tokyo. Seeing Keli's posture, ready to give chase, Kazuma felt a chill down his spine.

Keli also frowned, but then shook his head.

"It's alright, I have a way to get a car."

"You really have a way?" Kazuma looked at Keli with a suspicious gaze.

"It's alright, I already got one once when I came out before."

...

South of Ōta Ward, in Tokyo's most prosperous Shinagawa Ward, in an alley, several members of a biker gang had their motorcycles parked by the roadside.

"Hey, Ikeno! I heard you had your motorcycle stolen by a psycho a few days ago?"

One of them, a slightly older-looking youth, was pointing at a frustrated-looking youth and laughing heartily.

"Th-that... that was the legendary Ōta Ward Murderer! Didn't you see the news? That psycho is a ruthless character who dares to hack people down in the street!"

The mocked youth spoke, looking indignant.

"Huh? What murderer! If he appeared in front of me, I'd use my Ninja to knock his head off! You wimp should just ride a Honda Cub from now on! Hahaha!"

The youth's laughter was met with echoes from the other biker gang youths.

"Exactly! Ikeda, you're too useless!"

"He's just a psycho! What's there to be afraid of!"

As they were laughing, the sound of clapping came from the alley entrance.

After Keli attracted everyone's attention with his clapping, he pointed to the 'psycho' tag on his chest, then shook the dagger in his hand.

"Hello, I need to borrow a motorcycle."
