Chapter 21 - Chapter 21

Frankly speaking, Lin Yi's analysis of this oil painting was not complete.

After all, he only has an intermediate level of painting skills. For such a great work, he can only glimpse a thing or two and does not know the mysteries hidden within.

But it doesn't matter.

Although Lin Yi couldn't fully interpret them, the three of them were just laymen, with only a partial understanding of the oil paintings' content.

Lin Yi, drawing on his past experience with Chinese reading comprehension, latched onto the content and started spouting nonsense, yet he sounded incredibly convincing.

This left the other three completely bewildered.

An expert deceiving a layman—it's that simple.

Lin Yi had already noticed a look of admiration in Ran and Sonoko's eyes when they looked at him.

As for Shinichi, his eyes held a mixture of disbelief and astonishment—he hadn't expected this transfer student to be so knowledgeable about oil paintings!

Since Shinichi had practically offered his face for Lin Yi to slap, Lin Yi certainly wasn't going to be polite.

One slap wasn't enough; he needed to make his face swell!

Lin Yi stepped over to the next painting, titled "Rainbow," and continued to speak eloquently:

"This painting was created by Aivazovsky when he was 27 years old. In the same year, he was awarded the title of Academician of the Russian Academy of Arts and Painter of the Naval General Staff. He created a large number of oil paintings with the life of the Black Sea Fleet as his background. He completed over 6,000 works in his lifetime."

"Look at the texture of the sea and the waves—how well they're painted! The struggle and resistance between man and nature, giving a shocking power, are immediately evident!"

"Shipwrecks are tragic. But the scenes depicted by Aivazovsky are so beautiful; this is the 'distance' creating beauty."

"Look at this painting of the sea under the moonlight, with light dancing in the waves. This painting is like a beautiful piano piece."

"The dynamism of the sea is also very strong. This isn't a photograph, but something created entirely from his own observation and memory. You see, the delicate and rich layers, the vibrant and lively momentum, the light and texture of the moonlight and seawater—all so moving."

"It makes one feel as if they can hear the sound of the sea and its coldness. Doesn't this scene and atmosphere feel like listening to a moving symphony, giving you a beautiful enjoyment?"

"..."

As Lin Yi continued to introduce painting after painting, Kudo Shinichi's face turned purple. He hadn't expected that just one comment from him would lead the other person to talk endlessly, showing off his knowledge!

Shinichi glanced at Ran and Sonoko; both of them had looks of awe, completely captivated by this transfer student!

Damn it! I shouldn't have said anything!

Shinichi regretted it deeply, but there was no use regretting it now. He could only glare unhappily at the still-chatting Lin Yi.

Shinichi really wanted to stop the other party from exuding his charm, but he was a person of good manners. How could a well-mannered person interrupt someone else while they were speaking?

Lin Yi finally stopped after "explaining" three oil paintings by the same artist.

"So... so amazing."

Ran and Sonoko couldn't control their admiration for Lin Yi!

Not only was he handsome, but he also made delicious bento boxes, and he even knew how to appreciate paintings!

Ran couldn't help but glance at Shinichi, muttering to herself, "Compared to him, Shinichi is just a dumbass who only knows how to deduce!"

"It's all just information from books. I just memorized it; it's nothing special."

Lin Yi said very modestly.

Seeing his smug expression, Kudo Shinichi felt an itch in his teeth, wanting to go up and punch him.

No! I absolutely cannot let this guy continue talking! Otherwise, I'll just be a background prop!

After making up his mind, Shinichi immediately changed the subject. He said to Ran, "Ran, didn't you say there was a self-moving medieval armor in this art museum? Shouldn't we go see it?"

"Ah! That's right!" Ran was indeed distracted. She couldn't help but look around, "Where would that armor be?"

Shinichi glanced at Lin Yi triumphantly.

However, Lin Yi didn't seem to mind; on the contrary, he was somewhat grateful to Shinichi for changing the subject in time.

He didn't have much knowledge left in his head, and if he continued to explain, he would most likely expose himself.

Just as Ran was about to look for a staff member to ask about the moving armor, a commotion in the distance suddenly caught their attention.

"Kubota, what are you doing?" An old man was scolding a male staff member who was moving an oil painting.

"You must wear gloves when handling artwork. I've told you several times, have you forgotten?"

"Ah, yes, I'm sorry..."

"You don't need to do it. Iijima, I'll leave this to you!" The old man seemed to have a very bad temper.

"Yes." The man named Iijima put down what he was doing, walked towards Kubota, and took over his work.

"Tch." Kubota walked away with a hint of dissatisfaction on his face.

"Hey, Curator Ochiai, haven't you tidied up your junk yet?" A corpulent man walked over.

"Mr. Manaka."

"This place will close in ten days. Please take good care of it for this period." Mr. Manaka said, leaving with a triumphant expression on his face.

Curator Ochiai's face was not good.

There were very few people in the museum, and their conversation clearly reached Ran and the others, each person showing a different expression.

"Is this art museum going to disappear?" Ran couldn't help but step forward and ask.

"Yes, the former owner had to sell the art museum to Mr. Manaka because his company went bankrupt." Curator Ochiai said, lowering his head.

"Well then, please enjoy your visit."

Curator Ochiai seemed unwilling to say more. After saying this, he turned and left.
