Chapter 80 - Why Did You Take Firefly's Script?

Penacony, a top-tier guest room.

"Won't this get my clothes wet?"

March 7th asked curiously, looking at the azure liquid contained in a large, seashell-shaped pool before her.

"I don't know, but maybe 'you' do."

Leon was clearly referring to Phantylia.

Anything related to the mind is inextricably linked to 'Remembrance'. The Dreampool... the liquid inside should be safely processed 'Memoria'.

Whether it gets you wet or not, now's the time to ask the old expert on 'Remembrance'.

Phantylia didn't reply. It seemed she didn't want to answer the question.

Seeing that he was being ignored, Leon decided to test it himself.

"No problem."

Leon bent down and scooped some up with his hand, discovering that his sleeve didn't get wet.

Seems it only has the appearance of a liquid.

Leon straightened up and stepped into the Dreampool. March 7th followed his lead and went in after him.

"How am I supposed to find you, Leon?"

Before entering the dream, she once again took his hand.

"We're using the same Dreampool, so we shouldn't get separated, right?"

Leon had specifically requested the same room to avoid this very problem.

With Herta's influence and his status as an 'Emanator', getting them a room together wasn't difficult.

"If we do get separated by accident, remember to stay put. Don't wander off. I'll come find you."

Leon instructed, then submerged his consciousness into the cold 'Memoria'.

The Land of Dreams.

Using the Dreampool as a medium, Leon's consciousness entered this true Land of Dreams.

"Sir, we meet again."

Can a man's voice be this pleasant to the ear?

When Leon came to his senses, he found himself in an oppressive, cold-toned corridor that had absolutely no connection to the words 'sweet dream'.

"Have I entered the dream?"

Leon scanned his surroundings.

"Yes, sir. This is the Corridor of Musing."

Misha nodded.

"You can think of it as the passage into the dream, leading to the Golden Hour. I am here to provide guidance to our guests."

"Where is Mikhail? At this Golden Hour you speak of," Leon asked.

"I'm sorry, sir, I don't know where Mikhail is."

Misha shook his head. "Mr. Mikael might know, but he's in Dreamflux Reef, not the Golden Hour."

"Where is Dreamflux Reef?"

"Reaching Dreamflux Reef requires a special means of passage. If you wish to go, I will come find you after my shift ends."

Misha answered earnestly.

"For now, please enjoy the midnight revelry with your friend."

"After your shift?"

Leon glanced at him.

Is he role-playing? But as who? According to Phantylia, he is a memetic entity, and no one even knows he exists. So what kind of shift is he working?

Leon felt there was something very wrong with Misha. The intuition of The Hunt was always accurate. But it wasn't the time to press the issue. He'd have to wait until he got to this Dreamflux Reef Misha mentioned.

"Then I'll be counting on you."

At any rate, he now had a lead on the person's whereabouts. He didn't need to worry about other things, as they had nothing to do with him, unless Penacony was truly hiding something.

"Very well. Go straight to the end of the path, and you will find the real Penacony. I hope you enjoy your journey through this beautiful dream."

Misha placed his hands together over his stomach and gave a slight bow.

Leon nodded, bid him farewell, and followed his instructions to the end of the corridor. There, leaning at an angle, was a rectangular mirror covered in a dense pattern of arms.

He stepped through it.

Then came a sudden feeling of weightlessness, with the whistling wind whispering in his ears.

"So this is the gimmick?"

The periphery of Leon's vision was filled with dark clouds. He looked at the area below, perfectly aware of his current situation.

"Man, what can I say?"

Thanks to his formidable physical prowess, Leon needed no extra movements. He stabilized his body and immediately landed smoothly.

The king descends, righteous fury!

Faced with this sudden commotion, the people around seemed unfazed, as if it were a common sight. Or perhaps, in a dream, everyone is so self-centered they can't be bothered to pay attention to others.

"This garbage Dreampool... we even used the same one and still got separated."

Leon looked left and right, saw that he was alone, and immediately cursed the equipment.

"Sigh... first things first, find her."

Leon unleashed his intuition—which was tantamount to just guessing—and tried to sense March 7th's location within the vast expanse of Penacony.

"Good, she's not too far."

With that, Leon, the longbow on his shoulder, was about to leave.

"You there, handsome ranger."

A voice, trying to be serious but unable to hide its gentle nature, rang in his ear.

"You have violated Penacony's law against 'unauthorized launching of flying objects.' On behalf of the Bloodhound Family, I am now placing you under arrest. Please cooperate."

A wide, brown trench coat seemed to intentionally hide the figure's silhouette, while the sunglasses and baseball cap showed the newcomer's desire to conceal their identity and act discreetly.

"Gender?"

The newcomer, clearly a woman by the sound of her voice, coughed a few times, held up a silver bracelet, and interrogated him in an official-looking manner.

"Attack helicopter."

She had called him a flying object, so why wouldn't Leon play along?

"Well then, may I ask your name?"

The newcomer's voice held a hint of suppressed laughter. Her previously serious tone broke, and cheerfulness became the main key, likely amused by his answer.

"Leon."

He glanced at her, satisfying her small wish.

"Leon... ahem, Venus, a good name."

Much more normal than 'Miracle Male God'. She thought to herself.

In fact, it was so normal that it made her think it was a fake name for him.

"So, what's my name?"

As she asked this, the newcomer took off her sunglasses and cap, her gentle eyes revealing an undeniable joy at their unexpected reunion.

"You are?"

Leon said in a tone like he was talking to a child he didn't recognize.

"You mischievous ranger, you clearly remember our promise, yet you still pretend not to know me."

Robin was displeased, but her chiding tone was less of a complaint and more like pouting.

"It's been a long time. I'm so happy to see you, Mr. Ranger."

After her complaint, Robin's attitude suddenly shifted, and she spoke softly from the heart.

"The concert for those children from Caspian...yat is in a few days. I wonder if you would have time to grace it with your presence?"

"With me."

Robin extended the invitation. It should have been a touching reunion, but unfortunately, Leon didn't appreciate the sentiment.

"I'm not familiar with the Bloodhound Family."

Leon told her not to claim connections that weren't there.

"Honestly... I'll take that as a yes."

Seeing him still feigning ignorance, Robin was a little exasperated, but she went along with it.

"Hmph, I'm actually an artist from the Iris Family. Just now, I was merely playing a role for an upcoming drama. Wasn't my performance lifelike?"

Robin put away the silver bracelet as if changing acts in a play.

Her identity was as flexible as Leon's moral compass.

"As a newly arrived traveler, I wonder if this ranger named Leon might be in need of a guide?"

Robin might as well have had "Let me show you around" written on her face.

"Standing before you is someone who knows Penacony better than anyone. As a guide, I'm your best choice."

"I don't mind either way."

Leon's attitude was one of indifference.

"But I need to find someone first. The concert and the tour can wait."

"Finding someone?"

Hearing those words, Robin recalled the man who was with him on the day they parted—the one spinning like a crazy top—and assumed they were traveling together again.

"Is it that Mr. Boothill?"

"No, it's a girl."

Robin paused, then asked subconsciously, "Did you meet her by chance?"

"Not exactly."

Was it by chance? Leon couldn't really say.

"Is she a victim from somewhere?"

Robin thought of his identity and asked again.

"Yes and no."

Leon thought for a moment. "She's not a victim in the strictest sense, I suppose, because I don't know her origins either."

"Have you been traveling together for long...?"

"Just the last few days."

"I see..."

Robin felt a little envious.

The philosophy of the Galaxy Rangers is actually very similar to that of The Harmony.

They believe in fighting violence with violence, while The Harmony believes in the strong aiding the weak.

While their fundamental views on salvation differ, leading them in two directions, the actions they take are largely the same on the surface.

The Galaxy Rangers believe that one person can hold up the sky for another, or even for an entire world.

If others lack the power, the Rangers will act on their behalf to vent their grievances!

But The Harmony leans towards working together. What one person cannot do, two can. As long as people unite, nothing is impossible. Given that both speak for the weak.

At their parting, she had once thought of asking to join him in his patrol across the sea of stars. Wherever he went, there was bound to be injustice and oppression, and these were the pains she was dedicated to erasing from the cosmos.

The Hunt generally only concerns itself with standing up for others, rarely caring about the aftermath.

The Harmony, however, is the exact opposite, focusing most on the situation after the matter is resolved.

The Hunt is responsible for giving sufferers the hope to live.

The Harmony is responsible for turning that hope into the firewood that keeps them burning.

Pre-sales and after-sales service that complement each other. A perfect combination.

But thinking of the solitary nature of the Galaxy Rangers...

She quietly dismissed the idea, attributing it to an unrealistic fantasy born from meeting a kindred spirit and letting her thoughts wander too far.

But now, unexpectedly, someone had beaten her to it, doing the very thing she had fantasized about.

I was here first...

Robin sighed with regret in her heart.

"Where is your friend now?"

Since she had chosen to be his guide, it was Robin's responsibility to help him solve any problems he encountered in Penacony.

"I don't know the area, so I can't give you a name."

Leon indicated that he could lead the way, but couldn't say where the way was.

"Then let's go. I'll accompany you."

Robin nodded, determined to walk with him for a while.

Leon didn't say anything either, letting her follow.

Crack!

After the two left, not far away, Sunday, who had been too worried not to come and see for himself, crushed the binoculars in his hand.

"Is this script right?"

Sunday felt a profound helplessness at the scene before him. A sense of depression, like something important was missing, spread through his whole body.

No, man, what the hell did Leon do?!

Their relationship was even better than he had imagined, much better.

He had thought Robin had only a superficial connection with him, taking on this task for Penacony's sake, just as bringing smiles to others is an idol's duty.

But her behavior showed that it was exactly what she wanted. It was as if, even without Penacony's involvement, she had planned to see him again.

The surveillance was completely incidental. In her eyes, it probably wasn't even surveillance, just truthfully reporting the words and actions she had subconsciously recorded.

What on earth happened before?

Sunday couldn't find an answer. He only knew that the sister who once told him everything was now drifting far away from him.

Thinking of this, Sunday looked up, an expression of utter despair on his face.

NO!!!

Golden Hour.

"Achoo!"

Robin covered her nose and sneezed softly, a flicker of doubt in her eyes.

Was someone thinking of her?

"Why are you bundled up so tightly?"

Leon asked with a glance.

"Perhaps my identity doesn't matter to you, Mr. Ranger."

Robin said, adjusting the sunglasses that had slipped a little.

"Although I'm not exactly a household name, I am a reasonably famous singer."

"If I appeared openly, it might cause a bit of a commotion. It's a rare occasion for you to visit Penacony, Mr. Ranger, and I want to give you the best possible travel experience."

"That's really not necessary."

Leon didn't think it was necessary at all.

Believing that the old bird called the 'Dream Master' would truly let him roam freely in Penacony was about as likely as believing Misha was Mikhail.

He knew perfectly well that the 'Dream Master' would never be at ease with him around.

If nothing else, there was definitely secret surveillance. This was their territory, after all. It would be child's play for those vile capitalists to set a trap for him.

He just couldn't be bothered to deal with it, as long as it didn't get in his way.

"I'm just here to find someone. I have no interest in Penacony itself. No matter how real a fabricated illusion is, it can't bring about reality."

At first, people thought the Land of Dreams constructed by Penacony was just an ordinary virtual reality.

But only he, as a reincarnator, knew that in one month, everything here would be reflected 100% in reality. Status, position, wealth... in this life, he would definitely...

(One hundred words omitted below.)

"A beautiful dream may be false, but for some people, it is an indispensable source of comfort. Its existence isn't a problem, but not getting lost in it is what's most important."

Robin hummed in agreement, continuing the conversation.

"We've discussed this topic before, haven't we?"

Seeing that his principles remained as pure as ever, Robin couldn't help but smile.

"Ah... yes, right, right, right."

In truth, Leon hadn't heard a single word back then. He could only agree evasively to bluff his way through.

"By the way, is that your friend?"

Robin asked curiously, pointing to a beautiful pink-haired girl sitting on a bench with a lonely old man.

"That's her."

Leon nodded, then raised his hand and walked forward to meet her.

"March 7th."

Hearing the call, the girl—who had been sitting on the bench, bored out of her mind with her elbows on her knees and her cheeks in her palms, listlessly swinging her fair legs—suddenly saw her dull eyes light up.
