Chapter 7 - Chapter 7 Follow me to the underworld

The Joker was going to say something on the TV show, but it wasn't too important for Connors. Because when he had packed it up, he found something:

The spider-induction turned into a magnet again, attracting the "Spider-Silk" Cindy Moon who was coming towards him from afar, while Harley Quinn had disappeared at this time.

He immediately decided to go out to find Harley, not because he was worried about any danger to her, but because he was worried that he would not be able to eat hot melons if he was a step too late. The rewards were different for second-hand melons and melons eaten in person.

He got dressed, went downstairs, got in his car, and hit the road.

Just as Connors was thankful he left before "Spider-Silk" Cindy arrived, exclamations burst into his ears.

Hearing the sound, pedestrians on both sides of the Gotham street covered their mouths and looked into the sky in disbelief. Then, large swathes of spider silk were dropped from the air, and the car Connors was driving went straight to the sky.

With the existence of "spider-sensing," he knew that the spider silk had found him, so he simply turned off the car in mid-air, lay the seat back, and decided to see what was going on this time.

Soon, the car, pulled by the spider's silk, flew nearly twenty meters above the ground, stopping in the middle of two tall buildings, suspended above the street. By this time, a large net had been spread out by Cindy, and Connors and the car he was driving became prey in the net.

"Damn, the clown again?"

"This time it's not the clown, it's a guy we've never seen before. He seems to have spider-like abilities. According to the citizens who called the police, the perpetrator seems to be a woman. Between a few breaths, she made a big net between the two buildings and even pulled a two-ton car into the air."

"Leave it to you, Gordon. If necessary, dispatch a helicopter to rescue him. I still need to deal with him," the chief of the Gotham City Police Department pointed to the clown on the computer screen in front of him and said to Captain Gordon.

Gordon, without delay, quickly gathered his men, and the police cars sped off, sirens whistling.

When they arrived at the scene, they found that here, as the passers-by who called the police had said, a sedan was held in the air by a giant cobweb.

But…

Captain Gordon looked at the car, which was rocking and shaking rhythmically in the air, and fell deeply into thought. Instead of walking away, the surrounding people stood there one by one, holding up their mobile phones and watching the excitement as if it was a big deal.

"Dispatch the helicopter. First, observe whether the hostages in the vehicle are safe. Do not use weapons of mass destruction. You can try to use flamethrowers to burn off the cobwebs."

"Lay air cushions under the car to ensure that the car will not explode if it falls."

Captain Gordon took out his intercom, and as soon as he finished speaking, the car in the air, which had been rocking, stopped moving.

Moments later, in full view of the crowd, the car door opened, and a masked man and an equally masked woman jumped out in an embrace. At this point, the air cushion below was not laid, and even the evacuation of the onlookers was not completed.

Amidst Gordon's wide-eyed stare and the exclamations of onlookers, the two figures in the air launched a strand of spider silk to adsorb to a tall building, then swung away.

By the time the helicopter arrived belatedly, the two had long since disappeared.

"Cindy, can you not kidnap me in broad daylight next time? This is too high-profile, right?" Connors held Cindy in his arms and uttered the duo's first words to each other up to now.

"…" Cindy said nothing and kept shooting spider silk from her fingertips, but her breathing began to rush again.

Connors was startled. It was exciting enough to shake the car in the air with a web of cobwebs, but you can't come again while flying in the air, right?

Good thing that although Cindy Moon's breathing was rapid, after all, the two had just experienced a big battle and she could still control it.

Being in the air, the wind kept filling Connors' mouth and nose, and when he saw Cindy ignoring him, he simply closed his mouth.

On the big screen in the street, the clown was still talking:

"Today, your dear clown has something pretty special to do…"

"Those rich and powerful guys have been ruling us villains for so long, now it's their turn to be tortured!"

"So, I'm going to do a buy-one-get-one-free campaign: today, I'm going to get rid of Judge Thomas Lake, and Gotham's favorite tycoon, Bruce Wayne."

Connors said to Cindy, who was constantly firing spider silk from his arms, "To Gotham Reservoir."

He didn't know where the reservoir was at all, but Cindy's Spider-Sense was countless times better than Spider-Man's, both now and in the comics. He had no worries that Cindy wouldn't know the location of the reservoir.

Soon, the duo's direction changed, and they quickly swung in the direction of Gotham Reservoir.

Although the process was not very consistent with that in the comic, things were developing similarly. Connors had just seen the comic strip "The Man Who Laughs" just before his time travel, so he was able to realize that it was the Joker's "laughing gas" causing trouble at the beginning of the incident.

As the plot developed, killing Judge Thomas Lake and Bruce Wayne was not the Joker's real purpose. The real purpose of this madman was to pour the laughing gas virus into the reservoir and make the whole city die laughing. He was going to take revenge on everyone who made him this clown, so the whole city would "follow him to the underworld."

As the story developed, it would be unsurprising that Batman would recapture the Joker, ending the disaster.

But this won't work, Connors thought. Even if I come to the scene in person, I'll just eat a hand-made melon. If I want a bigger reward, I have to get involved!

He gave the master a hint about "the reservoir" yesterday. According to Batman's level of cleverness, he could definitely guess that the combination of "laughing gas" and "the reservoir" was a bombshell that could paralyze the entire city. Batman must have arranged things there a long time ago. But on the other hand, the suspicious Batman would certainly not have been led by him so easily; he would certainly have had a backup plan. Maybe he'd take Connors off with the Joker, which would be a bit against his purpose.

While it was still early, Connors had to hurry to the location of the reservoir.

Of course, he had given up looking for Harley Quinn at this point and went to the Joker for another reason: just now, behind the clown on the big street screen, Harley Quinn had flashed past! Harley appeared behind the Joker not with lingering feelings, but with a baseball bat ready for a sneak attack, only to be hit in the back of the head by a green crutch.

Eat melons and save Harley without delaying anything!

Before arriving at the reservoir, after a brief, intense farewell on a tall building, Connors bid farewell to Cindy, whom he had not said a word to until now, and went straight to the reservoir.

Gotham Reservoir.

It was improvised as a place resembling a magic stage. The Joker had long since moved here from Arkham Asylum; otherwise, he must have been caught by Batman long ago.

At this point, he was wearing a purple suit with green hair on his head, and behind him stood a guy in a green suit and a green top hat. Unlike the Joker's solid suit, the green suit was covered with question marks, large and small.

"You are Gotham's cancer, spreading from Gotham's lymph nodes to the spleen. If you spread to the bladder, God can't save us… But I am chemotherapy."

The clown awakened Harley Quinn, who was lying on the ground, with cold water and said with a laugh.

Bang! Batman opened his cloak from the air and landed on the ground.

"It's over, Joker… well, and Harleen."

"…Riddler? Why are you here?"
