Chapter 15 - Chapter 15 Sore throat

Sometimes it's much more active, so why not try being passive? Connors thought leisurely, looking at the big star Shayna with his hands behind his head.

But time would not allow him to be so idle. "Spider-Silk" Cindy had come to him today for a self-evident purpose, and he had not yet succeeded. The two Scarecrow accomplices, Penguin and Bane, were still out there somewhere, and Connors refused to let go of the opportunity to eat melons.

So, he decisively left. Before leaving, he did not forget to weave two pieces of clothing out of plants, one for Shayna to leave in and one for himself.

Bane had made no move, but from his wild ride with Shayna, Connors knew that the Penguin was still trying to bomb the ice outside the stadium—with artillery fire.

Unfortunately, by the time he arrived on the scene, there was only a mess of debris, bullet casings, and broken ice, but no Penguin. It must have been Master Wayne who grabbed him first. It's a pity that I didn't eat this wave of melons… Connors felt a little regretful.

The "Man Who Laughs" incident was still shown as ongoing in the system, but the villains he had come into contact with had been caught by Batman. The temptation of a reward upgrade made Connors decide to either contact the other villains on his own initiative to see if anyone else was in on the Joker's scheme, or go find the place where the Joker, Riddler, Scarecrow, etc. were being held, and keep the incident going himself. He had originally planned to bring the incident to a complete end today, but it seemed like that wouldn't work now. The plan couldn't keep up with the changes.

Connors looked at the remaining bullet casings on the ground, shook his head and sighed, then crouched down rather curiously and reached for a shell casing. As a civilian from a world with strict gun control, he naturally had little chance to see real firearms back on Earth. After traveling through time, he'd mostly seen Harley Quinn with a baseball bat, Batman with his fists, and Cindy Moon with her spider silk, so he hadn't had much chance to touch a real gun.

His curiosity lasted two seconds. The spider-induction began to warn him, while Connors heard a subtle click in his ear.

He'd never eaten pork, but he'd seen pigs run. Especially when he turned around and saw a short man pointing a gun at him, he didn't have to think about it; that was the sound of a firearm's safety being turned off.

"Brother… can we discuss this?"

He only had time to get out the first word before this short man was suddenly kicked by a flash of red and white.

Connors took a visual inspection. The man flew at least ten meters. Cindy Moon's foot had connected with the force of a speeding car. And because the area of impact was smaller, Connors could even see that the guy flying out had practically folded in half in the air.

"You…" Connors looked at Cindy and didn't know what to say for a moment. He had several ways to subdue the short man with the gun and was also going to ask for news about the Penguin and the Joker. But Cindy had just kicked him and taken him out of commission.

He definitely couldn't say anything to blame her. After all, in Cindy's eyes, he was being pointed at with a gun. She just wanted to save him.

"You… Does your foot hurt?" After holding it in for a long time, Connors only said this.

Cindy Moon shook her head. She ignored her constantly undulating chest and eyes that seemed to be moistening with water. She was still just a taciturn little girl—a little girl who could kick someone into two knots.

Even if Cindy Moon didn't speak, from her constant twisting movements and gradually quickening breathing, Connors could still understand what she meant and quickly refused.

"Not now… At night! It must be at night!"

After saying that, without waiting for Cindy to reply, he hurriedly ran in the direction of the short man she had kicked away. The spider-sense told him that the guy was not dead yet, and there was still value in using him.

"Ugh…" Poison Ivy groaned. She pointed her right hand like a knife and inserted it hard into her own chest, right over her heart.

"Ivy, what are you doing?!" Harley Quinn called out in a panic.

While Ivy was being held at Arkham Asylum, Harley had certainly provided the Joker with various weapons to help him escape, but she had also developed a good relationship with Ivy during her dealings with the inmates. Intending to do something big, Harley, who was going to face the Penguin alone, had been discovered and taken away by Poison Ivy, who had noticed Ivy's unusually painful appearance along the way.

At this time, in Gotham Woods, Ivy even had her feet rooted in the ground as she stabbed her heart with her fingers like a knife.

"Little Harley, don't worry," Poison Ivy pulled out her fingers and said weakly to Harley. "Just a little means of suppressing one's abilities."

Harley Quinn didn't understand. "But why should you suppress your abilities?"

"So I don't have to be in torment all the time," Poison Ivy returned to her slender figure and sat in a seat made of plants.

Harley's confusion was mounting. "What suffering?"

A blush flashed on Poison Ivy's face. Why did she have to tell Harley about this? Could she say, Spring is here, and all things revive. Is it the season of mating?

"You leave it alone, Harley. I'm glad you finally got rid of the clown. How about it, is the air of freedom fresher?"

Harley Quinn originally had a curious look on her face, but after being diverted from the topic by Ivy, she also became distressed. "No, it's not getting rid of him! That Scarecrow today was still saying I'm just a Joker's vassal! Damn it, everyone thinks that except Connors!" she ranted. "…Oh, and you, Ivy. You are the one who, besides Connors, really sees me as an independent individual."

Who's Connors? Ivy's doubts flickered through her eyes, but she quickly left them behind. She saw that no other human being, except Harley, was nearly as important as her plants. She answered before Harley could finish her words, "So?"

"So I want to do a big score! I'm gonna make Gotham go dark! Until they name a highway after me!"

"?" Poison Ivy didn't understand what a big score had to do with the naming of highways.

"So, when those rich people in Gotham are driving on the road, they will think 'here is a woman named Harley Quinn, I must not provoke her, she is a more evil being than any badass in Gotham'!" Harley Quinn excitedly painted the picture for Ivy.

"…Haha," Ivy laughed twice in embarrassment.

Shayna ordered her manager to cancel the concert schedule for the next few days. The blonde manager was in a hurry.

"Cancel? Why?"

"I have a sore throat," Shayna said expressionlessly.

"I'm so sorry, it's my fault. I didn't pay attention to your physical condition in time. I'll buy some medicine and make a pot of hot coffee for you later…" The agent, a young man with a hooked nose, heard Shayna say she had a sore throat and immediately changed from his previous quick-jumping action to a posture of deep concern.

This is the perfect time to capture the heart of this big star! he thought. What's that Eastern saying? Take advantage of someone's weakness to get what you want… Yes, I'm so close!

The agent was ecstatic, but on his face, he put on a look of perfect worry. Especially when he saw the goddess Shayna in his heart blushing prettily, he secretly clenched his fists and felt that he was only one step away from success.
