"This... how is this possible!" Odin hid in the crowd, looking at Victor in shock.
He had now reached level 5, thanks to all the resources he had.
And as a Necromancer, he had already bound two undead.
Even with all that, facing an opponent who was above his level 5, Odin found it hard just to run away.
And Victor had beaten his opponent in just five minutes, almost like it was nothing!
"It's impossible! It's absolutely impossible!" Odin gritted his teeth, roaring in his mind.
"Right, Victor must have gotten some kind of temporary power-up from Erica!" Odin quickly came up with a "reasonable" explanation and believed it completely.
"Victor, wait for me!" Odin took one last look at Victor, then silently walked away.
On the other side, Erica saw Watson on the ground. She was first shocked, then quickly hugged Victor and said excitedly, "Victor, how did you do it?"
Victor shrugged and smiled. "He was just too weak. That level 10 is a complete joke."
"Is that so?" Erica nodded, unsure. She could only believe it was Victor's luck.
But people who had been around here for a long time should know that Watson wasn't the worst in his level. He was definitely one of the stronger ones.
"Let's go," Victor said, not wanting to waste time. He smiled at Erica.
"Okay," Erica nodded, and the two started walking up Twilight Mountain.
As everyone saw Victor's strong performance, they all quietly moved out of the way, not wanting to anger him.
Once they were on Twilight Mountain, the crowd quickly became much smaller.
The dark and creepy environment made the inexperienced lady a bit scared, so she tightly held Victor's arm.
"Victor, how much further to the top?" Erica asked softly.
"Miss Erica, we've only been walking for two minutes," Victor said helplessly.
"This place is too scary," Erica stuck out her tongue and looked a little upset.
The two walked for about ten more minutes when Victor suddenly stopped.
"What's wrong, Victor?" Erica asked in confusion.
"Miss Erica, be careful. I feel something dangerous," Victor said. His eyes had been enhanced by the Illusion Eye, so he could see clearly even in the dark.
With the warning system of the Illusion Eye, he quickly noticed something strange around them.
"Hisss!" From the bushes in the distance, a human-shaped monster suddenly jumped out and charged at Erica.
"Die!" Victor shouted angrily, pulled out his sword, and slashed down.
He acted fast. He cut the monster into pieces just before it got within ten meters of Erica.
"This isn't a beast?" Victor stared at the floating mist, standing still.
His screen hadn't shown a kill message for a beast, and there was no beast corpse on the ground.
"Argh!" A sudden scream came from not far away-Erica's voice.
"Miss Erica!" Victor turned around and saw another black mist chasing her.
Victor made a quick decision and ran to save Erica, but he was too late.
Erica was chased into the forest and disappeared instantly.
That's the weird thing about Twilight Forest-once you go in, you get lost.
"What the hell is this?" Victor shouted, now really angry.
He had researched Twilight Mountain before, and never heard of such non-physical monsters there.
"Victor, you seem to be in trouble!" A man came out from the darkness, hands behind his back, looking at Victor with mockery.
"Odin, what are you doing here?" Victor frowned, then suddenly realized, and said coldly: "Those two ghosts earlier-they must be your bonded undead."
"So what?" Odin laughed darkly.
"Are you crazy? Erica has nothing against you. Why do this?" Victor asked angrily.
"Because of you!" Odin laughed. "Erica is getting closer to you. I had no choice!"
To annoy Victor, Odin explained further: "I sent Erica into Twilight Forest and made a hero rescue the damsel in distress!"
Thinking about it, Odin laughed out loud: "She will definitely be impressed by me. Maybe even fall in love with me."
"Erica won't fall for someone like you," Victor said without mercy.
"Then I'll do it the hard way!" Odin raised a bottle. It was a forbidden drug from the dungeon, called Aphrodisiac Potion.
"You're really crazy!" Victor pulled out his sword, wanting to kill Odin right then.
"If you kill me, my bonded undead will kill Erica now," Odin said carelessly, waved his hand, and slowly disappeared into the darkness.
"Goodbye, Victor. You'd better think about how to explain to the city lord that you failed to protect Erica. I'm going to find Erica now." Odin said that and disappeared completely.
"Can't just sit here!" Victor took a deep breath and tried to calm himself.
The most important thing right now was to find Erica first-and hopefully before Odin did.
He looked at the dark and empty Twilight Forest, took a deep breath, and stepped in.
As soon as he entered the forest, Victor felt a cold wind.
"So cold!" Victor felt a bone-chilling cold, not like normal cold-this cold carried a sense of fear.
Even so, Victor had to push through the discomfort and start searching for Erica.
Victor was full of anger all the way.
Things could have gone smoothly, but this Odin was acting like he had a disease, constantly causing trouble for Victor.
Because of this, almost every beast he met on the way was killed by Victor with ease.
Of course, Victor wasn't just doing this to vent his anger. He was also using this chance to gain more experience and level up.
That way, when he went to rescue Erica, he'd have a little more confidence.
So, Victor searched for Erica while killing beasts, and before he knew it, he had reached Level 7.
He used the ten attribute points he got on strength, so he could better power up his Frostshatter Sky-Cleaving Slash.
It seems that hard work pays off. After searching for about ten minutes, Victor finally found something.
On a dead tree, he saw a piece of clothing.
He picked it up, studied it for a moment, and recognized the pattern on the sleeve of Erica's dress.
With this discovery, Victor immediately started searching the area carefully. And he found some tiny footprints.
"Following these footprints, I should be able to find Erica!" Victor felt hopeful. He took a deep breath and continued forward.
After about ten minutes, Victor heard a faint crying sound.
The sound was very quiet, but it was clearly a woman's voice, and it sounded a lot like Erica's.
"Is that Erica?" Victor felt happy, but his instincts told him something was wrong.
After thinking for a moment, Victor figured it out.
Erica wasn't someone who would lose her head in danger.
She should know that crying out loud in a place like Twilight Forest could bring trouble.
Beasts, Odin's bonded undead, or anyone with bad intentions might find her.
Thinking about this, Victor made a guess in his mind.
He pretended to be surprised, coughed lightly, and shouted, "Erica, it's Victor. Where are you?"
"Victor! I'm in a cave. Just go ten meters forward and you'll see me!" Erica's excited voice came back.
Victor's heart sank. He sighed quietly in his mind.
Because he had just used Odin's voice. If it was really Erica, she would have noticed something was wrong.
"Then..." Victor tightly gripped his sword, and silently walked forward.
"Victor, why are you so slow!" A voice came from ahead, annoyed.
Victor didn't answer. He just quietly moved forward.
"Victor! Victor!" Under the weak moonlight, Victor saw a small cave. A woman with messy hair and twisted face stuck her head out.
"This... Orc Tribe?" Victor was shocked. He didn't expect to meet a race he had only seen in textbooks before.
The Orc Tribe, as the name suggests, was a race born from humans and beasts.
Most of them were born from sad stories, and they were not accepted by either the federation or the beast races. They were a very pitiful group.
But since she dared to pretend to be Erica and trick him, Victor had no pity for her at all.
