Chapter 11 - When in Trouble, Call Doraemon

A suitable way to describe Nobita's behavior would be as a case of unnecessary whining, like someone who doesn't want to take two steps even if their legs don't hurt.

Sometimes, he could solve problems on his own, but he just didn't want to put in the effort.

Doraemon noticed this when he first arrived and had been trying to cultivate Nobita's ability to handle problems independently.

However, this guy Nobita could be incredibly disappointing, always relying on Doraemon as his backup.

That's why he could be so uninhibited about asking Doraemon for help whenever he encountered difficulties.

What frustrated Doraemon the most was that, sometimes, he really couldn't refuse Nobita's persistent begging. It was truly a headache...

Whoosh!

With a creak, the door to the room was pulled open by Nobita from the outside.

He walked in, panting, and was about to complain to Doraemon when he suddenly saw the snacks and manga laid out in front of Doraemon.

"Hey! Doraemon, you sneaky guy! You're hiding away and secretly having a delicious afternoon tea all by yourself! You didn't even wait for me to come back and eat together! How sly of you...!"

Saying this, Nobita walked directly to Doraemon's side and, without ceremony, leaned down and grabbed a Dorayaki from the snack plate, stuffing it into his mouth.

"How can you say that? I used my hard-earned allowance to buy these... Well, never mind. Tell me, Nobita, what happened to you this time?"

Doraemon explained habitually, but after realizing there was no point in explaining to Nobita, he sighed helplessly and turned to ask what had happened to Nobita today that had made him so unhappy.

It has to be said that Doraemon really cared about Nobita.

Perhaps it was precisely this doting that allowed Nobita to rely so heavily on Doraemon as his shield. No matter the difficulty, his first thought was always to ask Doraemon for help.

"Well, it's like this…"

Nobita, perhaps because he was eating Dorayaki too quickly, almost choked.

After taking a sip of juice, he patted his chest and slowly recovered. Then, he began to recount everything that had happened at school that day to Doraemon.

Doraemon sat cross-legged, facing Nobita with a somewhat helpless expression as he listened to the events of the day.

Actually, nothing particularly long happened, and Nobita only selected the most important events to tell. So, he soon finished recounting the entire situation.

"So that's what happened. A new international transfer student in your class, Nobita? That kind of situation is indeed rare."

Doraemon, arms crossed, nodded seriously and spoke.

It seemed that in Doraemon's eyes, the identity of an international transfer student was indeed a rather rare type.

"Aaaah! Doraemon, you've been listening for so long, and all you heard was their background? Come on, pay attention to the main point, will you...!"

Hearing Doraemon's first words, which were just an affirmation of the other person's identity and background, Nobita immediately stood up in frustration. He grabbed Doraemon's big blue head with both hands and began shaking it, acting spoiled.

"Alright, alright, Nobita, stop shaking me, my head is spinning...!"

"You just mean that the new international transfer student has become Shizuka's desk mate, and they seem to be getting along quite well, right?"

Doraemon, while stopping Nobita from shaking his head further, spoke in a somewhat helpless tone.

"What do you mean, 'It just looks like they have a good relationship'? Doraemon, are you even listening to me?"

"Didn't I just tell you? That Lin Feng guy, he just transferred today, and on his first day, he invited Shizuka to go shopping with him after school!"

"And, the unbelievable part is, Shizuka actually agreed! She even turned down my offer to walk home together, and told me to go home early and do my homework...!"

Nobita's voice rose with emotion and grievance as he spoke, practically on the verge of tears.

In the past, although Shizuka sometimes refused Nobita's unreasonable requests, she rarely turned down invitations like going home together after school to read manga.

If Shizuka had said she had something to do at home and couldn't walk home with Nobita to read manga, maybe Nobita would have felt a little better.

But today, Shizuka's reason for turning Nobita down was to go shopping with that new international transfer student, Lin Feng, which was something Nobita couldn't accept.

It felt as if his most beloved toy, the one he cherished the most, had suddenly been snatched away by a stranger, or even someone he was somewhat hostile towards.

Although comparing Shizuka to Nobita's toy might be a bit inappropriate…

In Nobita's naive mind, Shizuka should be his future bride, and no one else should be so close to her.

So, when Shizuka turned down Nobita's invitation to go home after school and read manga together, instead agreeing to go shopping with the new transfer student, Lin Feng, Nobita's entire emotional state was completely shattered.

"Isn't that a good thing? Shizuka is doing this for your own good, Nobita. If you don't finish your homework, you might get sent to stand in the hallway by the teacher the next day."

"Doraemon!!!"

"Is now the time to talk about this! If we don't do something, Shizuka is going to be stolen away!!!"

Nobita was truly anxious this time, his expression becoming a little hysterical. He closed his eyes, stretched his neck, and raised his fist to Doraemon, expressing his protest.

"Alright, alright, I got it."

"Nobita, you don't need to be so worked up. After all, the new transfer student has only just met Shizuka today."

"Maybe he's just not familiar with the neighborhood and asked Shizuka to be his guide."

"Besides, didn't we already confirm with the Time Television? Your future bride is definitely Shizuka."

Doraemon could only comfort him this way to ease Nobita's mind.
