Chapter 23 - Shizuka, Always Thinking of Others

"Yeah, I live alone, so I have to do everything myself."

Lin Feng didn't see any reason to hide his circumstances from Shizuka. She would inevitably find out eventually, so he might as well tell her now and save himself the trouble of explaining later.

"Oh? You live alone, Lin Feng?"

"What about your family?"

Sometimes, girls could be just as curious as cats. And when a girl's curiosity was piqued, it could be hard to hold back her questions.

"Well, some things happened…"

Lin Feng briefly explained his current situation to Shizuka.

Apart from the fact that he had transmigrated and had a system, there was no need to hide anything else.

After explaining everything to Shizuka, the atmosphere between them became somewhat quiet.

"I'm sorry, Lin Feng, I shouldn't have asked you those things. I'm sorry for making you remember some unpleasant things."

After a moment of silence, Shizuka gently apologized to Lin Feng. She hadn't expected Lin Feng's background to be so tragic.

Losing his parents unexpectedly was already devastating enough, and Lin Feng had to persevere and complete his studies in this completely unfamiliar environment where he had no relatives.

If this had happened to an ordinary fifth-grade elementary school student, he probably would have already broken down.

But before Shizuka asked Lin Feng, the way he presented himself to others didn't seem like someone with such a miserable background at all.

Shizuka found it hard to imagine how much effort it took to maintain that composure and calmness on the surface.

At least, Shizuka knew she couldn't do it herself. She didn't dare to imagine what she would become if she had Lin Feng's background.

Because of this, at this moment, Shizuka felt more admiration and heartache for Lin Feng, besides sympathy.

He was clearly a fifth-grader, about the same age as her, yet he had to bear such a huge burden alone. Just imagining it felt difficult.

Seeing Shizuka apologizing to him carefully, Lin Feng smiled slightly.

"You don't have to blame yourself, Shizuka. I'm already used to it. Actually, it's not as sad as you imagine. You don't have to worry about me."

"I don't take it to heart, and you don't need to feel sad for me. Be optimistic, after all, life still goes on, doesn't it?"

Although someone like Shizuka, who is always considerate of others and thinks for others, makes people feel very comfortable, there was really no need for it now.

First, Lin Feng had always lived alone before he transmigrated, so he was already used to it.

Second, when he transmigrated, the original body's parents had already passed away in a car accident, so he didn't have any deep feelings for them.

So for Lin Feng, besides the change in his age and living environment, everything else remained the same. He didn't feel the sadness that Shizuka had imagined.

"Um... then after school today, can I visit your house, Lin Feng?"

Hearing Lin Feng say that, Shizuka gradually let herself relax from the immersive feeling of sadness.

After listening to Lin Feng's account just now, Shizuka couldn't help but put herself in Lin Feng's shoes, experiencing that loneliness and sadness, which also affected her emotionally to some extent.

If Lin Feng hadn't appeared so optimistic, Shizuka might have really sunk further into this sadness, unable to pull herself out.

"Of course. I live alone anyway, so it's fine anytime you want to visit, Shizuka."

Lin Feng understood Shizuka's curiosity about his living situation, so he didn't refuse her request to visit.

In fact, Lin Feng hadn't expected Shizuka to be so concerned about his background.

Perhaps her personality was more sensitive than what she showed in the original story.

Seeing that they had finished lunch and it was almost time for the afternoon break, the two didn't continue their conversation.

Like yesterday, Lin Feng rested his head on the table while his mind started working.

Based on the current progress, it might be difficult for him to finish drawing the first chapter of Demon Slayer within half a month.

The main problem was that Lin Feng's drawing skills weren't mature enough. He needed to find a way to improve his drawing speed.

And the best way to use external power to increase his drawing speed was probably to borrow 22nd-century gadgets from Doraemon.

After all, Lin Feng was now in the world of Doraemon. The entire storyline revolved around Doraemon, the cat-shaped robot who came from the 22nd century.

What made Doraemon most memorable was his four-dimensional pocket, which could constantly produce all sorts of amazing futuristic gadgets.

If he remembered correctly, in the previous storyline, Doraemon had taken out a gadget called the Automatic Pencil.

It was originally meant to be lent to Nobita so he could quickly finish his homework and then join Gian, Suneo, and Shizuka in their extracurricular activities.

But later, Nobita, who loved to show off, used it to flaunt around. Gian noticed it.

With the mindset of, "Nobita's things are mine, and my things are still mine," Gian snatched the gadget from Nobita, intending to use it for exams.

The gadget was indeed powerful. Gian, who usually struggled to pass, scored a perfect score on every subject after using it.

However, Gian's mother eventually noticed something was amiss.

A mother knows her own son best. Gian's mother was certainly aware of his usual approach to studying.

Therefore, she didn't even need to question it; she immediately concluded that Gian was cheating and gave him a beating.

Gian eventually realized his mistake and voluntarily returned the item to Doraemon.

Lin Feng, therefore, had a very deep impression of this particular tool that Doraemon had once produced.

If he could borrow this item for a few days, the problem Lin Feng was currently facing would be solved.
