Chapter 62 - Survivors

Pov: Ieuan

The shot comes at me at full force, which seemed to be imbued with numen and some other ability. Watching it come at me, it hits me in the chest. As it sent dust flying, any sight of me was lost.

Coughing, I waved away the dust around me. "Well, good to know I can take those shots of these degrees much better now."

My eyes met the sniper's, and I could see her jaw clench. As her red hair swooshed in the wind, she seemed to get agitated.

"What rank are you?" I asked, looking at her.

"Third." She sharply.

"So a bishop. I'm guessing that all of you are around the same level then."

They stood silent.

"Quick question, why would you dive down here, picking a fight with me. I mean, you must know who I am."

"Orders," replied the swordsman.

I laughed, "You dove down here because of orders? Do you really value your lives that much?"

"In the grand scheme of things, our lives are worth very little." He replied calmly.

"Well, regardless, I will keep my side of my promise." Dusting the dirt off of me, I changed stances with my left hand behind me. "Ready?"

Before they could see my next move, I appeared behind the sniper and released a punch that caused her to roll meters away.

The others turned towards me.

One screamed out her name as their head turned to where they were flying.

A soldier using daggers, releasing a barrage of attacks. Using my free arm, I blocked each strike and redirected others. After a few moments, I pushed him away with my palm. Trying to get up, I walked towards him.

"Don't do that." I increased the gravity on him, pinning him to the ground.

He gritted his teeth as he clenched the ground. Before I could increase the pressure anymore, another soldier wielding the swords charged at me, trying to attack me from behind. Falling back, I led the soldier as he swung his sword rapidly in different directions.

Embers flickered from the blade from some unknown ability. Using this moment, another soldier holding a dagger tried to cut me off and trap me in hopes of landing an attack. Jumping, I floated above them.

Smirking, I reeled back my fist, but when I did, I saw the soldier that I pinned to the ground moments ago trying to attack me.

I had two soldiers beneath me and one to my left. Seeing this, I increased the gravity around us, causing everyone to fall to the ground. All besides me.

"You recovered quickly." I looked at the soldier to my left.

Struggling under the pressure, they tried to push themselves off the ground. "I can't give up!" The man let out. Stepping on him, "Just give up." As he collapsed under the weight, the man fainted, as did all the others.

Letting out a sigh, I looked around, seeing down all at my feet, "Well, that was quick. I guess the pressure was too much for them to handle. I couldn't even test all my new abilities."

Scanning the battlefield, the skirmish that was going on seemed to be over. Sol was pushed back after the attack I released, and Lune made the most of it.

"Well, good, now I get to go back home."

When I went to grab my sword from the ground, I could hear an armored truck making its way to me. Stopping above the crater, the doors swung open, and the same hunched man came out of the truck from the passenger side.

"Sir!"

I walked up towards him, "How many have we lost?" I asked.

"Haven't counted." His eyes lingered. Finally, on the same level as he is, I tried to walk to the truck, but just as I did, he let out something. "Sir!"

I turned, "What?"

He seemed to hesitate for a moment.

"If you're going to say something, say it." My eyes stayed on him until his eyes finally met mine.

"We found some people who say they are survivors of the veil."

"Huh?"

The backdoor of the truck swung open, and four people seemed to be in there, all between some soldiers of Lune. Cuffed chains dangled on the floor.

Pov: Eirian

A crater formed where the man stood, and the sky above him split. Many stared in awe.

"Eirian!" Ael screamed at me to get my attention.

I turned to see him and Amiel standing. Amiel held out his hand for Eira.

"Right." I got up from the floor as we tried to escape the battlefield.

Different explosions erupted as we all ran. The mud from the impact flew up and covered us in it. Different shots went off as we ducked, hopping to avoid getting shot. The only problem was that the flat plane didn't give many of them. No matter where we ran, we were exposed to danger.

Just as we find our way out, one big final explosion goes off. We all go flying from the explosion. My ears are ringing, and I slip in and out of consciousness.

When I did, I heard a voice. Just as I manage to get a grasp of myself, I am brought back to the world, and the ringing fades away. Trying to get back, the other and I are surrounded by many soldiers.
