Joe's POV
I watched Lily leave the room like she had fire licking at her heels. She didn't even glance back. Not once.
I let out a breath and turned toward the quietness of the room that followed her exit, only to be met with the sharp, assessing stare of my wife.
Jane. Yea Jane.
Her expression softened immediately when she saw I was looking at her, switching masks like she always did. She stepped forward and slid her arms around my waist, resting her head gently against my bare chest.
"Baby, I missed you so much," she murmured, her fingers grazing along my spine. "But, you scared me so much, Joe."
I stayed still, letting her cling to my body for a moment. "Yea,.. I'm sorry, but I'm fine now," I said.
