Lily's POV
My breath hitched as Jane twirled the knife in her hand, the silver catching the dull kitchen light like a warning. My back met the cold stone wall behind me, and my heart pounded so loudly I was sure she could hear it.
"Please," I whispered, my voice cracking as panic began to take over. "Jane… Luna… please don't do this. Please… I am begging you. I am sorry"
She arched her brow.
"Ah, so the little kitten's lost her fangs now?" she said, grinning. "Just minutes ago you were clawing at me with all that bravado, remember? Let me help you refresh your memory,'" she mocked, mimicking my voice cruelly. "'Go be with your husband.' So strong, so bold. So stupid"
"Please," I begged again, my knees trembling. I lowered myself slightly, trying to show her I meant no harm. "I'm sorry. I wasn't trying to be disrespectful. I didn't mean any of that. If you want me to leave, I will. I swear I'll go. You'll never see me again, I swear Queen Jane. Please."
