Chapter 78
Lily's POV
I ripped my hand from his grip like it burned. "Don't touch me again."
Mark didn't even flinch at my tone. "You should've waited for me to explain that night."
I let out a bitter scoff. "Explain?" I stepped back, my spine brushing the cold wall. "Explain what exactly? That I caught you with her because you tripped and fell into her arms? Or maybe her into your bed?"
His jaw clenched. "It's not that simple, you need to let me explain…"
"It was exactly that simple," I snapped. "You just had to stay loyal and faithful to me. It's not that hard.". I said, tears already welling in my eyes. "What do you want to say now?"
I should've walked away. I should've reached for the door and ended this conversation before it could dig up wounds I'd spent months trying to bury.
But something ugly inside me…something that still wanted to know…kept me rooted. At least I need closure.
I folded my arms. "Alright then. What exactly would you have said in your defense?"
