Chapter 86Lily's POV
Ivan's mouth dropped open. "What…? That's the dumbest thing I've ever heard!"
"I'm serious!" I shot back. "They'd take the bait if it were me. And then your 'two warriors' could swoop in and, bam!" I clapped my hands for effect. "Problem solved."
"This isn't a children's game, Lily!" Ivan snapped, his face reddening. "Do you even understand what rogues would do if they got their hands on you?!"
I did. I really did. And the thought made my stomach churn. But I also knew I couldn't just stand by and watch Joe risk everything. Or worse let them kill my mother.
I forced a grin, trying to lighten the thick air. "Well, if they kill me, at least I won't have to do Jane's laundry again. And maybe…just maybe, i will go with my mother."
Ivan's jaw dropped. "This is not funny!"
"Relax," I said, though my hands trembled slightly. "I'm just saying… maybe I could help."
