Chapter 87Lily's POV

The ride to my place was eerie as hell.

Nobody spoke. Even Ivan, who always had something to say, kept his mouth shut for once. The air in the car was thick with unspoken things, heavy enough to suffocate me. Sonia and Mark had been to my place before, sure, but Joe? The old Joe, the boy I once knew in school, he'd been there once. Now this new Joe, the Alpha with his sharp eyes and dangerous calm, was about to see the small, cranky place I called home.

Embarrassment twisted in my gut. My apartment wasn't a palace, wasn't even close. Just four thin walls, a couch that creaked when you sat on it, and a TV that worked only if you smacked the side. Compared to the marble and gold of the palace, it was pathetic.

Ivan pulled the car to a stop a distance away from my building. It wasnt too far from it,but it wasnt too close either.Just enough for them to have a clear line of sight without looking obvious.
