Chapter 106Lily's POV
Sonia's arms were still around me, her tears wetting my cheek, but the moment of relief began to crumble under the weight of her gaze.
She pulled back just enough to study my face. Her eyes widened, her expression shifting from joy to alarm.
"Lily… you look awful. You're so pale!" She cupped my cheeks with trembling hands, shaking her head. "What did they do to you? Who hurt you?"
The warmth of her touch broke something inside me, and I almost let the truth tumble out. But before I could answer, she gasped, her features hardening.
"That witch," she spat, fury sparking in her voice. "Jane. It's her, isn't it? She's been treating you like trash, hasn't she? I knew it! I should have burned her alive the first chance I got. Especially at the graduation ceremony".
Panic surged in my chest. I glanced at Joe, still silent, still watching. His expression hadn't changed, but I knew him well enough by now to feel the storm beneath the calm.
