Chapter 114Lily's POV
The forest was thick and quiet, branches clawing at us as the massive wolf carried me deeper into the night. My head was still spinning, my fingers clinging tightly to his fur.
Then suddenly, he stopped.
The air was sharp, carrying the faint smell of moss and stream water. Before I could wonder what was happening, he dropped me and his body rippled and twisted in front of me. His fur shrank back into skin, his bones cracked and reshaped, and in seconds I was staring at a man where the wolf had been.
I gasped, my throat tightening."…Joe?"
He didn't answer me. His chest rose and fell, the moonlight catching on his damp skin. His body looked… different somehow, Sexy, stronger, broader than I remembered. More wolf than man. He didn't even look my way as he bent down and scooped me up bridal style, as though I weighed nothing.
