Chapter 14 - Chapter 14: The show is hot

The climate in California at the end of June was very comfortable, neither too cold nor too hot. In the afternoon, the warm sunshine shone on Andy. He stretched his limbs and floated on the air cushion in the swimming pool. He was wearing only a pair of swimming trunks, showing off his assets unscrupulously.

Carl, clutching a stack of photos and documents, had a smear of envy on his chubby face. His handsome appearance, his increasingly robust physique, and the fact that making money was as easy as eating and drinking—everything made him incredibly envious. Fortunately, he had also benefited greatly from it, otherwise he would have been envious to death.

Carl looked away and sat on an empty recliner. He took out some ice wine from the ice bucket and poured himself a glass. The cool and sweet taste made him sigh that Andy really knew how to enjoy life.

"Ahem."

Carl saw that Andy seemed to be asleep. He didn't have much time to enjoy the beautiful sunshine here. Andy was a hands-off boss and almost all the things fell on him. Well, he liked this fulfilling life, although it was very tiring.

Andy heard a cough, and his closed eyes opened slightly. Seeing that it was Karl, he said, "You're here."

After saying that, he stretched his body on the inflatable bed, turned over and entered the swimming pool, and slowly swam to the shore. The swimming pool was composed of a rectangle and a circle, which looked very much like a key without teeth.

He picked up a bath towel and casually draped it over his body. Water droplets kept dripping onto the ground. He wiped his hands, took the photo that Karl handed to him and began to look through it.

"These photos cover all the cliffs on the Black Sea coast in San Diego. Can you see which piece of land it is?" Carl put down his glass and began to introduce.

"Well, let me take a look first." Andy flipped through the photos and quickly compared them with the scenes in his memory. When he saw the seventh photo, he secretly breathed a sigh of relief. It was still No Man's Land.

"Is this the place? I was wondering why you bought a cliff? You don't really want to build a house on it, do you?" Carl really couldn't guess what Andy was thinking. Suddenly he thought of something and asked him with a bit of surprise.

"This is the difference between a genius and an ordinary person. You and I see the same photos, but the things in our minds are different. Don't ask me, there should be no problem in buying this land, right?" Andy glanced at Carl without further explanation.

"Let me see... Well, the documents say the entire mountain, including a small beach, will cost $6 million. Honestly, that's not cheap! Are you sure you want it?" Carl glanced over the documents and felt the price was a bit high. While it did have a private beach and was quite large, it was still a bit pricey. It was an isolated cliff, sparsely populated.

"I bought it." Andy replied calmly, but he was very excited in his heart, "Now this is my Free City!"

Seeing Andy's resolute attitude, Carl swallowed the advice that was about to come out of his mouth. He couldn't help but stuff another pile of documents into Andy's hands with frustration. "Here are several game companies that are interested in selling. Take a look."

"Good, Carl, you are really efficient. I like it." Andy took the document with a little excitement. It finally involved an area he was familiar with. Although he made mobile games in his previous life, he could also make computer games.

"I have screened these companies. They all have difficulties in operation due to lack of funds or lack of innovation in their game projects. They have relatively complete personnel composition." Carl was very pleased with Andy's praise. The smile on his fat face became much brighter. He touched his greasy bald head and took credit for it.

"Okay, okay, thank you very much. You've worked hard. Come, let's have a drink." Andy said speechlessly, raising his glass.

"Okay, cheers."

We picked out one of the documents from several companies, which showed that this game company called Winster mainly developed casual games, but its profitability was really poor. The company's boss didn't want to continue losing money on it, so he decided to abandon this non-performing asset.

However,

In the United States, bosses sometimes don't have complete control over their own companies. Faced with unemployment, employees quit. Although the current US economic environment is in a state of false prosperity, jobs are still hard to find. Without a job, what will happen to their families? What about their mortgages and car loans?

So, the company's employees formed a negotiation team and asked the boss not to close the company. In exchange, the employees could exchange their wages for shares. However, in vain, the boss, Winston, would not continue to burn money on a company with no future. However, the employees continued to make such a fuss, and he was a little exhausted. So he made concessions and sold the company, looking for buyers everywhere.

Andy was interested in the casual games developed by this company, especially a 2D pixel game. The technology was fine, but the game itself had no creativity.

"Let's go with this one! You contact them first. If everything goes well, have Nelson and David audit their company. If they think there's no problem, buy it and get this resolved as soon as possible."

"Okay, no problem. I'll call them later. I believe they won't reject us." Carl looked at the information in his hand and said confidently.

Andy agreed with Carl's words and believed in his efficiency. Now that he had made the decision, Carl picked up the documents and walked out while taking out his cell phone and started dialing.

After hanging up the phone, Winster took a deep breath and was finally able to get rid of this broken ship.

"Lena, ask Holden and Bill to come to my office."

"Okay, boss." A clear female voice came from the speaker of the telephone.

A few minutes later, two footsteps were heard in the corridor outside the office.

"Dongdong"

"Come in." Winster lit a cigarette in his mouth, and his voice became cheerful, sweeping away the depression of the past period of time.

Two men in their thirties pushed open the door and walked in. Although their clothes were immaculately groomed, the fatigue and hesitation in their eyes could not be concealed at all. The possibility of losing their jobs had left both of them feeling very depressed.

After the two sat down, Winster slowly told them about the phone call. Holden glanced at Bill immediately after listening, and both of them had a sudden realization, knowing that they didn't have to worry about unemployment for the time being.

But in a moment, their expressions became a little nervous again and they looked at Winster. After all, he was the boss and the company belonged to him.

"This is a good opportunity, both for me and the employees you represent. If the transaction is successful, I will be relieved, and you will keep your jobs and relieve the pressure of life. Well, I won't say any more nonsense. Go back and tell your employees to cheer up. Whether you can keep your jobs depends on you leaving a good enough impression on the buyer." Winster ordered straightforwardly.

Holden and Bill nodded, not wanting to delay even a moment, hoping to announce the good news as soon as possible to stabilize the increasingly turbulent emotions in the company.

Andy continued to be his hands-off boss. Besides working out, writing novels, and swimming in the pool, he stayed home all day without going out. This made nanny Liu Yan a little confused. Aren't children of this age the most noisy? Why didn't Andy show any of this?

Maybe he didn't have many friends here, so he stayed at home all day writing novels and didn't go out. Liu Yan found a reason that she thought was reasonable, so she came up with an idea and suggested that Andy raise some small animals, such as cats and dogs, to keep him company and relieve his boredom.

Andy sent Liu Yan, who was nagging out of concern, out of the study with a bit of a smile and tears in his eyes. He closed the door and sat back in the boss chair, shaking his head and laughing. Liu Yan had no idea that the reason why he was staying at home all day was not because he was really such a homebody, but because he had to proceed according to the plan at this stage. He also liked the passionate nightlife and yearned for all kinds of parties that he could only see on TV before and communicate with beautiful women, but not now.

However, Liu Yan's suggestion reminded him that raising a few dogs was indeed a good idea. He liked dogs very much in his previous life, but the conditions did not allow it, so it was just an idea. As for cats, his girlfriend raised a greedy Persian cat, which he also liked very much.

Well, that's it. He couldn't resist the urge to save the document, then opened Google and started searching for pet shops in Hollywood. As for adopting a pet, Andy had no intention of doing so for the time being, as the animal adoption center would most likely not have the breed he needed.

Cats and dog puppies were what he needed. Furthermore, given his current circumstances, he needed a purebred pet with a good pedigree. Financial resources determined the quality of life, and the ordinary lifestyle he had previously embraced was no longer viable. As a newly wealthy individual, he had to adapt to a new lifestyle.

Maybe everyone spends money, but some people spend it like aristocrats, while others spend it like nouveau riche. But it doesn't matter. Andy doesn't care what others think of him. As long as he is happy, he believes that being low-key is the way to go, and he doesn't pretend to be cool, because pretending to be cool will definitely get him struck by lightning.
