Chapter 20 - Chapter 20: The game company

After an hour's flight, the plane landed at San Francisco Airport.

He wore a pair of sunglasses on his face, a white T-shirt, a pair of faded and worn jeans, and a pair of trefoil sneakers on his feet. With his tall and strong body and handsome face, he exuded an aura of confidence, which attracted the attention of the women around him from time to time.

Nelson saw Andy and his group at a glance from a distance. Andy was like a luminous body, making people unconsciously look at him. There were also several women taking pictures of him with their mobile phones. I wonder if they recognized his identity. After all, Andy's photos have been constantly appearing in various media reports in recent times, so it is normal for him to be recognized.

"Hi, Nelson." Andy walked quickly to Nelson and his group and gave him a hug.

Nelson felt Andy's enthusiasm and opened his arms. "Boss, welcome to San Francisco."

"Haha, thank you for your hard work these days." Andy and financial advisor David also hugged each other and greeted the negotiation team.

David said to Andy with a wry smile, "Boss, you've given us too little time. We've only conducted a preliminary assessment of their company, and some of their accounts haven't been audited yet."

"Haha, let's put the accounts aside for now. It's enough to assess the value of the assets and make sure that I acquire a gaming company with complete staff." Andy explained with a smile.

Hearing Andy's words, David shrugged his shoulders and said a little speechlessly: "If that's the case, then there's no problem."

"Okay, let's go. I've booked a hotel for you." Nelson said to Andy after greeting Carl and Joseph.

"OK, let's go. I'll treat you to a big meal, and everyone will get a share." Andy highly praised Hua Xia's dinner invitations. Whether it was for friends or employees, it was the best way to maintain relationships.

The Four Seasons Hotel in San Francisco's SoMa district is 121 meters high and is the first skyscraper completed in San Francisco in the 21st century.

Nelson booked a deluxe view room on the 17th floor of the hotel for Andy. The room was decorated in cream tones to create a warm atmosphere. In addition to the view of Yerba Buena Gardens, the panoramic windows also offered views of several nearby blocks.

Standing in front of the panoramic window, Andy overlooked the street view and listened carefully to David and others' detailed introduction to the target company.

"Okay, okay, let's go to the restaurant to taste California-style steak and various snack platters, and put work aside for now." Andy interrupted David's introduction and smiled at everyone.

When he heard that he was going to eat, Carl patted his fat belly and said happily, "Great, I've been hungry for a long time. I feel like I can swallow a cow right now."

Andy rolled his eyes at him and said sarcastically, "You should go on a diet, otherwise you will get fatter."

"Never mind. It would be better to kill me than not being able to enjoy delicious food!" Carl didn't care about Andy's ridicule at all.

Nelson and David couldn't help but chuckle as they watched Carl hurriedly walk out of the room with his fat butt twisted.

In the restaurant, Carl was holding the menu and talking to the waiter non-stop. Andy took the menu unhappily and looked at the prices. He was a little surprised that the dishes were not expensive. He said to the waiter standing next to him, "French truffle foie gras pâté with green apple, cheese and caviar, traditional Gula beef soup with rye bread, French sour cheese fruit salad with fresh raspberry sauce, grilled T-bone steak with black pepper sauce and sautéed mushrooms..."

After ordering the dishes, a few people chatted while waiting for the dishes to be served, and Carl looked very anxious, holding the knife and fork in his hand and ready to eat.

Andy teased him from time to time, which made Nelson and David shake their heads and laugh.

As for teasing, I don't know if it's because I'm thick-skinned or because I like this way of playing and fighting with Andy to enhance the relationship.

Carl was not affected at all, but calmly counterattacked with witty remarks from time to time, making everyone laugh.

David, a financial advisor who had just joined Andy's team, was very envious of the way Carl and Nelson got along with Andy.

Soon the first dish was served, French truffle foie gras pate with green apple, RU cheese and caviar. The presentation was very elegant and the aroma was fragrant.

I scooped a spoonful of caviar into my mouth, and the tiny particles slowly rolled between my lips. The delicious taste that burst out when I took a light bite made my taste buds cheer.

It is indeed delicious. Even though it is expensive, it is still made of rare top-quality ingredients. The chef's skills are impeccable, allowing the ingredients to retain their most essential flavor.

The foie gras sauce is incredibly smooth and melts in your mouth like snow in water, with an unparalleled taste.

Although delicious, Andy was still a little depressed. He was used to the large plates and bowls of Chinese cuisine, and there were too few Western dishes. However, there were still many dishes to come, and he believed that after eating a set, his stomach would be full.

Salad, bread soup, steak... one by one went into Andy's stomach. After eating and drinking, everyone returned to the guest room for a nap to recharge their energy for the final negotiations in the afternoon.

afternoon.

"Holden, do you think the other party is really the young billionaire reported in the newspaper?" Bill looked a little nervous. The worry in his heart made him unable to relax. He asked Holden, who was standing next to him in a neat suit and with a serious expression.

"Bill, I know what you're worried about, but I heard from them privately that their boss wants to acquire a company with a complete staff. I don't think there will be any major staff changes at this time."

"Although he is young, his idea made him a billionaire. Since he wants to get involved in the unfamiliar game industry, he must have his considerations. This is an opportunity for us. We have enough funds to complete our ideas." Holden saw Bill's worry, and he was nervous too. The company has developed to this point, and it is absolutely unreasonable to say that there are no problems with the management. Layoffs are certain, but it is not their decision to lay off those people. Now they can only wait for the decision to be made by the new boss after the acquisition.

Winster, the company boss standing in front of the two men, was in a very good mood. After all, a burden was about to be thrown away. Even if the acquisition price was greatly compressed, it was still much better than endless burning of money. As for other problems in the company, he no longer considered them and left it to the new boss to worry about.

"Here I come."

Holden saw several cars driving towards them and spoke to warn everyone.

The car slowly stopped, and the first group of people to get out were not unfamiliar to Winster and his friends. These people were in charge of the negotiations in the past few days. The leader, David, was a very tough negotiating opponent.

Then a young man in a T-shirt and jeans got out of the car, looked up and looked around at the surrounding environment and the location of the company.

An old five-story building with peeling walls gives it a dilapidated feeling.

"It must be this young man. He is so young. He can do whatever he wants when he has money!" Winston had all kinds of thoughts in his mind, but his steps did not stop at all. He hurried forward to shake hands with Andy and say hello.

Holden and Bill looked at each other and followed Winston closely. They were also surprised at Andy's youth, even though they had seen Andy's photo in the newspaper a long time ago.

Under David's introduction, the two sides shook hands and got to know each other. After a brief exchange, under the guidance of Winston, everyone entered the game company one after another.

The company's office space is very spacious, but there are not many staff members. Andy has learned that the company has more than 50 employees, and 50 people use a five-story building. Naturally, the space available to each person is very spacious, which is indeed a bit luxurious.

At this point, the entire company was extremely nervous. Ever since the boss announced he was selling the company, they hadn't been able to work with peace of mind. Lower-level employees were relatively safe, but the mid-level employees were particularly nervous, fearing the new boss would wield the sword of layoffs. As for the senior executives, it went without saying: if the company wasn't profitable, what else could they say?

The atmosphere in the conference room was a bit depressing. Andy was somewhat bored as he flipped through the game materials previously produced by this game company. How should I put it? The creativity was still good, but they were basically all casual stand-alone games. There were no products in the largest game market in the United States, TV console games, not to mention any online games.

David led the audit team to do the final accounting. If there were no problems, Andy could sign and pay.

No one spoke in the office. David pushed the door open and walked in, nodding at Andy to indicate that everything was fine. Both parties were seated, Andy signed the contract, and David handed the check to Winster, who had already signed his name impatiently.

After Winster received the check, he simply said goodbye to Andy and the others and left the meeting room without looking back. Now he had nothing to do with the company.

After watching Winster leave, Andy walked to the front of the conference room, looked around, and saw several senior executives of the company with very nervous expressions.

"There will be no changes in the company's management for the time being. I will give everyone some time to demonstrate their abilities. The creative department and the sales department are the focus of my inspection." Andy looked at the few people with a serious expression, and everyone who passed by his eyes couldn't help but feel a chill.

Soon the issue of employee remuneration was basically settled. In fact, there was nothing much to discuss. Apart from the back pay for the employees, the money to buy the company was basically a bargain, mainly because the old five-story building and a large piece of vacant land at the back that had been used as a parking lot were also included in the company's assets.

As for the copyrights of the company's previous games, Winster didn't want a penny. To be honest, Andy really didn't think much of those games. He bought this company just to make the products he needed. Who in the world knew better than himself which games were the most profitable?

The people Andy brought took over the company and began to sign new contracts with the employees. The company's new name was changed to "Mockingjay" and the unique trademark sign was handed over to an advertising company. The company's building was too old, so Andy ordered people to paint the outdoor walls of the building, and the interior also needed to be redecorated layer by layer, and the employees' work was not delayed.
