Chapter 21 - Chapter 21: Minecraft

In the conference room, Andy looked at the employees sitting in neat rows and smiled warmly, although he was still a little uncomfortable with the feeling of being stared at by so many people.

In his previous life, he was one of the people sitting below and looked at the boss with awe because that person held his job. Perhaps the people in the meeting room now thought the same way.

But to be honest, he still enjoyed the attention. "Hello everyone, I'm your new boss, Andy Smith. I'm sure you're all familiar with me. After all, my picture has appeared frequently in newspapers lately."

The laughter Andy had expected didn't come from the conference room. Instead, the employees sat at attention, looking at him with serious, focused expressions. He rubbed his nose awkwardly and continued, "It seems everyone's still a little nervous, but you don't have to worry about work. I can guarantee you won't be idle. Bill will give you a business plan with my creative ideas in a moment."

Bill distributed a stack of information. Andy stood at the head of the conference table, looking at everyone who was looking through the information.

"This is a 3D sandbox game. I'm not looking for gorgeous graphics or special effects, but rather the familiar pixel-based gameplay. The main focus is on gameplay, allowing each player to freely create and destroy different types of pixel blocks in three-dimensional space to create exquisite buildings and art, or collect items and explore the map to complete the main storyline."

"You can imagine that small wooden houses, medieval castles, famous cities, sky lands, and underground cities can all be realized in the game, allowing players to experience the feeling of being like a god through their creations."

Andy tapped the table lightly, attracting everyone's attention, and raised a finger. "I will inject capital into the company, so money is not a problem. You can work with peace of mind, and this game I named "Minecraft" will be your future work."

The employees who were facing unemployment some time ago suddenly became excited. The company had funds and new projects, and they no longer had to worry about unemployment. They all applauded excitedly.

Thunderous applause broke out in the conference room, and Bill clenched his fists excitedly. He had previously made a pixel Lego-style casual game, but he never expected that this would make him the project manager of the new company's first game.

Holden applauded while feeling sad. Bill got the new project. Although he was a little jealous of Bill's good luck, he couldn't help but feel refreshed when he thought about the task Andy assigned to him. Perhaps the project he was responsible for would not be bad either.

Since there were no major personnel changes in the company, the entire company began to operate intensively after getting the new idea. Andy had no experience in the daily operations and administrative management of the company, so he urgently needed an excellent CEO, and he only needed to be a good boss and creative director.

To be honest, there are many such talents in the United States. However, even so, Andy still found a headhunting company. He needed a CEO with rich sales and management experience and an excellent IT industry background.

Within a few days, Andy got the CEO he needed. The other party started as a server salesman and became the deputy manager of a branch company in three years. However, after two years as a deputy manager, he saw no hope of promotion, so he resolutely chose to be poached by a headhunting company and became the new CEO of Mockingbird Games.

"Welcome aboard!" Andy said with a smile, shaking Blair's hand.

"Thank you. I'm honored to join the company." Blair's facial features are very tough, giving people a serious feeling, but because of his sales background, his smile is very gentle and friendly.

"Boss, I've read the company's information. The game 'Minecraft' is simply a genius creation. I believe that players will like it. It will not be a problem for it to replace The Sims.

"

Andy smiled slightly. "This requires everyone's efforts. Well, this office is yours from now on, Mr. Blair." Then he stood up and shook hands with Blair. "If you don't like the decoration, you can design your own and have them decorate it to your liking. By the way, there will be a meeting in the conference room in ten minutes."

"Thank you, boss. I'll consider it." Blair watched Andy walk out the door and looked around the new office environment. He felt it was pretty good.

As for Andy's new office, it is still under renovation, so he can only temporarily requisition the conference room.

Andy was crawling on the table in the conference room, writing and drawing on a stack of papers with a pencil in his hand, when the new CEO Blair and the company's management walked in one after another.

"You guys sit down first, I'll be there soon." Andy didn't look up, but just gave the order casually.

After finishing the last game character, Andy put down his pen, gathered up a stack of papers, and looked around. Seeing that everyone was already there, he coughed softly and said, "Okay, let's start the meeting now."

"This meeting has two purposes. First, this is Blair, the company's new CEO. Let's get to know each other."

After the applause, Andy continued, "Second, I'm holding the company's second game project, which Holden will be developing. It's called 'Plants vs. Zombies,' a single-player puzzle strategy game for PC. These are my general concepts and the game characters. Take a look."

The most excited person in the meeting room right now was Holden. He had been watching Bill pull the company's programmers away one by one these days, leaving him sitting there doing nothing. He was so annoyed. Now it was finally his turn. He breathed a sigh of relief and hurriedly took the game plan from his boss. He ignored everyone else and just kept flipping through it. As he looked at the images on the draft paper, his expression became more and more varied. He couldn't help but mutter, "Great, this is a genius idea..."

When the others saw this scene, they couldn't help but shake their heads and laugh. They naturally knew how confused and depressed Holden had been these days, and Bill also breathed a sigh of relief. After all, he and Holden were both colleagues and good friends. The company's first project was given to him, but Holden had nothing to do. He really didn't know how to comfort him. He was really afraid of letting him misunderstand, and then they might not even be friends anymore. Now it seems that this young new boss is indeed not simple, and he had planned everything early on.

After reading the plan, Holden stood up with a red face and said to Andy anxiously, "Boss, don't worry, I will definitely not let you down."

Andy nodded seriously. "Sit down. I'm sure you'll do a good job. Also, why don't you show the plan to others? You don't want to keep it to yourself, do you?"

"Ha ha ha ha"

A burst of laughter rang out in the conference room. Holden shrugged awkwardly and reluctantly passed the plan to Blair.

Blair looked at the various plants and skills on the draft paper, as well as the strangely dressed zombies. He raised his head to glance at the young boss who was enjoying his coffee. The last bit of contempt in his heart was replaced by admiration.

Ten minutes later, Andy put down his already empty coffee cup and cleared his throat. "Okay, now we've established two development teams. Bill, your team has almost filled up the staff these days. If there's still not enough people, recruit some. While ensuring quality, speed up the progress."

"Don't worry, Holden. Your team will be fully staffed after this recruitment. Blair, the recruitment work is left to you. The company is undergoing renovations, and the office space is limited. For now, we have to squeeze in. Okay, that's all I have to say. I've been a little annoyed by the paparazzi recently, so I'm going to go out and hide for a while. If you need anything, please call or video chat."

"Okay, boss." Blair replied seriously.

Now that the game company's affairs were arranged, Andy felt a lot more relaxed. He had been busy these days and worked until very late at night. He needed to personally complete the two plans and make personnel arrangements for the company. After all, this was where his career started, and he couldn't be careless at all.

The CEO was recruited, and the finance and legal departments were all members of his negotiation team. The development department was divided into two groups, which dispersed power to the greatest extent possible, allowing him to delegate power with confidence without being deceived. After all, he was not good at the daily management of the company, so professional matters should be left to professionals. He just needed to be a good helmsman and owner.
