Chapter 33 - Chapter 33: Returning Home

Marissa left, and it seemed that the fatigue from being ravaged by Andy all night had no effect on her at all. It seems that fame and fortune are indeed the best stimulants.

He called Blair from the game company and asked about the company's situation and the progress of the game's development. Andy had been calling to inquire during this period. Although he couldn't go to work every day, he would not ignore it. After all, this was his pillar industry. It's just that smartphones have not yet been born, so there is still time to develop it slowly.

Looking at the time, it was just past 10 o'clock in the morning. Andy felt a little bored, so he called Carl again to ask about ticket purchase and flight time. As for the distribution of his novel, Andy did not ask about it. After all, he believed in Carl's ability. This stingy and cunning fat man would not miss any opportunity to make money. He was really the best choice to guard the house.

"Inception" has been handed over to Scholastic Publishing, but now the publishing house is vigorously promoting "The Hunger Games". After communicating with Carl, Andy's new book was put on hold. Publishing three novels in a row in just a few months will affect the publicity and sales. Andy is very clear about this, but he still requires that "Inception" must be published in the second half of the year.

He needs to get "Inception" to the big screen as soon as possible. This is the most important part of demonstrating his value in Hollywood. He covets both the Golden Globe Award and the Oscar for Screenwriting.

This time when I returned to New York, in addition to visiting my parents, performing on "Saturday Night Live" and brushing up on my TV experience, the most important thing was to plan for the subprime mortgage crisis.

The financial circle on Wall Street in New York is Andy's main goal when he returns to New York this time. As for directly using US dollars and leverage to speculate on indexes after the crisis occurs, that is a suicidal behavior. Although he is a time traveler, he only knows the approximate time when the subprime mortgage crisis will occur. As for the rise and fall of stock indexes, he has no idea, so he'd better forget about spending money to speculate on stock indexes.

He wants to make money but doesn't want to be at the forefront, because that means cutting flesh from all securities companies, investment banks, credit rating agencies, financial regulatory authorities, and government tax departments. It would be an idiotic act to do that without caring about the consequences.

He knew very well that before the subprime mortgage crisis, several financial geniuses on Wall Street had seen the outbreak of the crisis and planned to short the market. All Andy needed to do was to follow these people and make a fortune. Even if the profits could not reach the maximum benefit, it was better than being targeted by those cold-blooded bankers.

Taking out his laptop, Andy connected to the Internet, opened Google, and checked Apple's stock price. Looking at the rising stock price, he was very satisfied. This kind of confident golden finger is the most reassuring.

After browsing the international news, maintaining my blog and the Twitter account I recently opened, I started writing. Andy has decided to use "Pan's Labyrinth" as the opening story for the second volume of "Dark Fairy Tales", and then use "Alice in Wonderland" 1 and 2 to dilute some of the violence and blood in Pan's story. After all, the atmosphere of Pan's story is a bit depressing, and there are too many deaths.

The only thing that drives Andy a little crazy is that the IQ of some characters in the movie version of Pan's Labyrinth is a bit worrying, and some dialogues seem a bit childish. Although it is a fairy tale and the protagonist is a little girl, it is normal to be a little childish. However, if it is turned into a novel, Andy will need to make some changes. After all, the main readership of this kind of dark novel is teenagers.

Once he entered the typing state, time passed quickly. It was not until Joseph reminded Andy that he woke up from his super-tickling state. He stood up and stretched his stiff body. He had not exercised for two days, which interrupted the habit he had formed over the past few months and he was still a little uncomfortable.

After lunch, I took a short rest and then received a call from Karl. I packed my luggage, carefully checked if there was anything I had left in the room, and then went downstairs to meet Karl.

Headed straight to Los Angeles Airport.

"Which airline did you choose?" Andy asked, leaning back in his seat and closing his eyes.

"Delta Airlines, their hardware and services are excellent. Hehe, it's just that the quality of the flight attendants is a bit poor, mainly because they are too old. But Andy, have you had a good time these past two days?" Carl stopped flipping through the documents and teased Andy, who was resting with his eyes closed, with a lewd look on his face.

"It's okay. By the way, I left your phone number with Brooklyn Decker. She wants to make a movie. If you can help, please do so." When Andy was teased by Carl, he thought of Brooklyn Decker's young and plump body.

"Why, do you still want to be serious with her?" Karl asked speechlessly after hearing Andy's words, "These models are just for fun, don't invest your feelings in them."

"Haha, how could that be? The main reason is that I can't do such a ruthless thing as plucking a bird. I'll help if I can. For this kind of thing, you still need to have a good reputation. If you ask for something, you won't have to worry about not having people to play with you." Andy told Carl the truth and expressed his dirty thoughts without any hesitation.

"Haha, that's right. Once these people label someone, it will spread quickly throughout the entire circle. No wonder you and Marissa Miller appeared on the street so generously. It's a good thing for that woman." Carl touched his fat chin and laughed obscenely.

"It doesn't matter whether it's cheap or not. Everyone just gets what they need. This way, we can get along with each other without feeling awkward. It's necessary to maintain this long-term relationship. I don't want to have to resort to this method whenever I need a woman." Andy complained unhappily. This was related to his future happy life.

"Hehe, then you have to be careful, these women are not so obedient." Carl reminded.

"It doesn't matter. It's nothing but fame and fortune. I'm willing to spend some money on women. As for fame, I'll help if I can within my ability. There's no need to help beyond that. The only women I can get in touch with now are of this level. I'm very clear about that." Andy curled his lips. He was very self-aware. He didn't want to invest feelings and just wanted to have fun, so naturally he had to understand the scope he could control.

"That's not the case. You're quite famous now. Even though you can't be known nationwide, your popularity in big cities is guaranteed. After all, you have the title of a young billionaire, and the allure of money is still very great." Carl retorted, not caring about Andy's somewhat inferior narration.

"Don't comfort me. I'm very clear about the current situation. Maybe I can only gain a foothold in Hollywood after "The Hunger Games" is fully published and put on the big screen, or "Inception" is adapted into a movie. You should be very clear about this. What I really value is my career in games. In the future, I won't have as much time to write novels as I do now. I hope you can understand." Andy told Carl his future focus.

Karl was slightly taken aback, and hurriedly said, "Okay then. Starting a game company is too expensive. You have to think it through. When you acquired the game company, I thought you were just playing around. If you want to make a career out of it, I still hope you think it over carefully before making a decision. Our copyright company is just getting famous, and we absolutely cannot give up halfway."

"I didn't say I wouldn't write anymore. Don't worry, the copyright company is the foundation of my future career. I just won't publish novels continuously like I do now. By the way, how's the copyright negotiation for The Voice of China going?" Andy explained.

"The negotiations weren't going very smoothly, mainly because we couldn't agree on the price. The other party thought our price was too high, and what they wanted was basically the copyright for a large area." Carl frowned and introduced to Andy.

"The price can be lowered a bit. We can give it to them for large regions, but we have to charge a copyright fee for every country that purchases the copyright. We must insist on this. Tell them that the most profitable part of this kind of talent show is advertising revenue. Let them think it over carefully. If they still say the price is too high, then let them all go." Andy thought for a while and said firmly.

"I understand..." Carl nodded.

Los Angeles International Airport.

The flight from Los Angeles to New York took six hours. Andy adjusted his seat, donned an eye mask, and drifted off to sleep. While it wasn't his first time flying, business class was a new experience. The spaciousness allowed him to stretch out, given his height, now over 190 cm. As for first class, Andy didn't think he could afford such extravagance. After all, most of his dollars were invested in the stock market, and the rest were spent elsewhere. He only had a few million dollars left for himself, so it wasn't time to indulge.

Perhaps because of the indulgence of the past two days, he slept all the way to New York. At the reminder of the flight attendant, Carl woke Andy up. Andy looked through the window with sleepy eyes and saw that it was already dark. Perhaps because he was homesick, he waited for the plane to land with a little trepidation and confusion.

John F. Kennedy International Airport is located in Queens, approximately 15 kilometers from downtown Manhattan.

The group walked out of the airport through the business class passage. Andy looked around with complicated eyes. This was where he grew up.

"Andy, Mr. Auston is here." Carl saw Auston Smith getting out of a Mercedes-Benz and whispered a reminder to Andy who was a little dazed.

Andy saw the middle-aged man standing next to the car in the distance. At this moment, he felt very complicated and a little flustered.

He clenched his fists tightly, then released them, taking a deep breath. He knew he would have to face them eventually, whether it was his parents and family in this life or his friends here. With a slight smile on his lips, he quickly walked up.

Carl was a bit taken aback. Andy's fleeting, unnatural expression had made him a bit worried. After all, he knew that Andy and his father had had a bit of a falling out before he decided to go to Hollywood. But when he saw Andy's smile, he felt relieved. After all, they were family, father and son. A relieved smile appeared on his fat face. Andy had really matured.
