Chapter 50. Xyz Overview! Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon & Voloferniges!
GX World.
After listening to the explanation and evaluation of the three Fusion bosses, Atticus Rhodes reacted completely differently from Joey Wheeler.
Back when Atticus played Red-Eyes, he also focused on a burn line.
Inferno Fire Blast plus Red-Eyes Black Dragon was his key to victory.
So after seeing the three Fusion "giants," his thinking was exactly the same as the video creator Red-Dad yyds.
Of those three, only Meteor Black Comet Dragon is worth a look.
The other two are basically unusable!
"Senior Atticus, what do you think about the Fusion line?"
"Relying on my years of HERO Fusion experience, let me give my take first, okay?"
"All three are worth including, if you ask me."
"Never mind whether the effects come up."
"Just look at the ATK — can you really call that weak?"
"And what's more—"
Jaden Yuki ran over next to Atticus Rhodes and started talking at length about his views on the Red-Eyes Fusion line.
After talking with Jaden Yuki, Atticus Rhodes only showed a faint smile.
Jaden really has a lot of insight on HERO.
But when it comes to Red-Eyes, he still doesn't know it well enough.
Playing Red-Eyes is about running a fun burn line.
Even if you don't go burn, with so many burn effects on the cards, it obviously suits a burn line.
Who still uses Fusion as the main axis?
Clearly, this video is also making one point.
Fusion is only support, and Red-Eyes Fusion's self-restriction is still too severe.
5D's World.
Yusei Fudo and the others, who had been quietly observing the whole time, remained silent in their evaluation of the Fusion line.
They don't understand Red-Eyes.
They don't know the role of non-Red-Eyes inclusions.
And they understand a Fusion-centric Red-Eyes even less.
So they won't say too much.
If it were a Synchro-system Deck, maybe they could offer a few opinions.
With the Fusion line covered, the short video's creator Red-Dad yyds immediately moved on to a simple rundown of the Xyz line.
Red-Dad yyds: "After a quick pass through the Fusion line, next up is a simple intro to the Xyz line."
Red-Dad yyds: "Here we have to talk about an important in-archetype Xyz you should include."
"Or rather, with this card in the mix, Rank-7 development becomes much easier."
"This card is Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon!"
[Name: Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon (Rank 7)]
[Attribute: DARK]
[Type: Dragon]
[ATK/DEF: 2800/2400]
"Effect 1: While this card has Xyz Material, it cannot be destroyed by card effects."
"Effect 2: While this card has Xyz Material, each time your opponent activates a Spell, Trap, or monster effect, inflict 500 damage to your opponent."
"Effect 3: Once per turn, you can detach 1 Xyz Material; target 1 'Red-Eyes' Normal Monster in your Graveyard and Special Summon it. This effect can also be activated during your opponent's turn."
"All three effects are simple, true."
"At first glance, they don't seem to give us any substantive boost, right?"
"But you have to understand what Effect 3 does."
"Note: it's also usable in the opponent's turn."
"In other words, on our turn this can pull a monster to keep making Rank-7 plays, and on the opponent's turn it can pull a monster to block."
"And with Effect 2, if you pair it with the earlier burn, or push the opponent's LP down a bit more, then Effect 2 becomes a real nuisance."
Red-Dad yyds slowly explained the subtle roles of Red-Eyes Flare Metal Dragon.
The old-school Duel Monsters veterans who first thought it was weak now each showed pensive expressions.
This card seems like it really has something.
You might think its role as an Xyz isn't there at first, but once you consider it carefully, you realize this Xyz's impact is significant.
As one of Red-Eyes's Rank-7 terminals, it has effect-destruction protection, suppresses activations with burn, deals 500 LP burn, and can revive at Quick speed.
It can also serve as Rank-7 resource sustain.
With all these effects together, you can see how this card plays an absolutely powerful role in the in-archetype Rank-7 plan.
Red-Dad yyds: "With that done, next are other Xyz choices."
Red-Dad yyds: "The generic Rank-7 Xyz can all go in."
"Like Number 11: Big Eye."
"And Number 89: Diablosis the Mind Hacker."
"These generic Rank-7s are all playable."
"But there's one card that's very synergistic with Red-Eyes among the generics."
"That card is Voloferniges, the Darkest Dragon Doomrider!"
[Name: Voloferniges, the Darkest Dragon Doomrider (Rank 7)]

[ATK/DEF: 2500/2100]
Synergistic with Red-Eyes?
Duelists across the six worlds were taken aback at first.
Only after reading this card's effect did they understand why it's "synergistic."
Effect 1 detaches 2 materials to target 1 face-up card on the field and destroy it.
If it was a monster, you can boost 1 of your monsters' ATK.
Here is the key.
If this card has a Dragon monster as Xyz Material, that effect can also be activated during the opponent's turn.
Which means that, in a Red-Eyes Deck, when you make this card, that effect immediately becomes a powerful Quick Effect.
A Quick pop.
That value goes up right away.
