Chapter 5 - Chapter 4

I stroke her face as she continues to take deep breaths to calm down. As soon as she was calm and fast asleep, I let go of her and left her room.

I closed the door behind me and sat right outside in case she needed anything.

When I heard her alarm ring, I got up and headed towards the shower.

That's right. I didn't sleep a wink but she can't know that.

Her safety and well-being matter to me way more than sleep.

Not only because it's my job, which you're all probably wondering how I got.

Here's the quick background.

I saw her once on a business trip 3 years ago and I decided then and there that I had to know her.

That's when I decided to use my security company as a way in. I assigned myself to her out of curiosity and since then...I haven't left her side and have been watching myself silently fall for her.

I'll reintroduce myself once she's honest about what she feels and once I get what I want from her father. It turned out the more digging I did on her…the more I realised I hit the jackpot in more ways than one.

I'm not a creep. I swear.

Belinda's POV

As soon as I got up, I realised what happened in the middle of the night.

Damn…

Time to get up and pretend nothing happened.

After showering, a text of today's breakfast menu from my chef pops on my mirror.

It's an electronic mirror which can also be used to send texts or watch Netflix if you flip it over.

I'll just have an omelette, nothing hectic.

I haven't had a nightmare like that in years.

As for what tiggered it...I don't even know. It could be the visit from my mom. I'm thankful for Jackson but I swear I'll kill him if he mentions anything about last night.

That's so embarrassing.

Soon after I got dressed, I found Jackson in the kitchen eating already.

"Wassup." He greeted casually, but I could tell he was fighting the urge to show how truly concerned he was about me.

"Hey"

We sat in silence, and as soon as we finished eating, Brian showed up.

"Hey sis!" He greeted, grabbing an apple on his way to me.

"What do you want Brian?"

"Damn that hurts. No...hi there my lovely brother to what do I owe this pleasure? Or...Why good morning dear brother did you sleep okay?" He laughed.

Hearing the last sentence triggered a light sense of fear in me and I could feel Jackson's eyes focused on me but he didn't say anything.

"Why would I do that?" I asked coldly making Brian simply shrug and disappear into his office.

Brian and I both have our own offices in each other's homes. It just makes sense.

"Ready to leave Bel?" Jackson asked before gulping his juice.

I simply nodded and followed as he led the way.

"Miss Knight, miss Knight!"

"Are you going to confirm anything today? Any update?"

"Miss Knight!"

As soon as we entered the car and made it through paparazzi, Jackson handed me a mimosa.

"Thanks." I smiled looking down too embarrassed to make direct eye contact with him.

"Why so glum?" He asked raising my chin with his index finger making me look at him.

"You know why." I answered trying my best not to make eye contact.

"Don't ever feel ashamed or embarrassed with me okay? It's me" He smiled genuinely trying to reassure me.

"Arg you're making me feel 5." I laughed and he joined.

He knows very well I would never actually admit when he cheers me up but he also knows when he has.

"Oh by the way...did you handle that situation?..."

I'm referring to my ex fiancé.

"Of course...I mean...what's my name?"

He said this while adjusting his tie and smirking lightly.

Why does he like doing that?

I swear he thinks he's in an edit.

I then immediately put on my sunglasses and folded my legs.

His smirk turned into a smile because of my reaction and then silence fell throughout the rest of the ride to the office.

When we arrived ,my mother's car was parked in my parking space and my mood immediately went sour.

Arg why's she here again? And why my parking spot? She literally has her own right next to mine!

This just adds to the unsettled feeling I have from last night.

"You okay B?" Jackson asked concerned.

"Yeah" I dismissed.

We then walked into the building and I instructed Amber to get me stronger vodka than what I have in my office. Whatever that woman is doing here is going to drive me mad I can feel it.

When we walked into my office I noticed a large pile of designer shoe boxes on my table.

What on earth?
