Xenon opened his eyes slowly, he sat up, looked around and saw he was on his bed, in his room. He saw a red dot in the periphery of his vision –a notification from the system. He opened the system.

"Yes! It worked!" Xenon jumped in excitement.
His excited shout alerted Qweri who had been just outside his room all night to ensure no problems arose. He opened the door hurriedly and peered in. He smiled slightly when he saw that Xenon was alive and well.
"Ah, young master, you're awake, is anything the problem". Qweri walked into the room, ready to provide any assistance the young man might require.
"Yeah, I'm fine, no cause for alarm". Xenon replied. Qweri nodded and turned to leave.
"Wait, Qweri, could you tell me what happened yesterday? Last thing I remember was Gael grabbing my shoulder".
"Oh well, I don't really know the details. But when miss Elsa brought you out in her arms, she said master Gael did something that disturbed your meditation and said something about some flow of energy becoming chaotic, depleting your progress and knocking you out".
"That bastard!". Xenon exclaimed angrily.
"If it's a bit of consolation, master Gael slipped and hit the back of his head which is now a bit swollen" Xenon chuckled lightly.
"I shall take my leave, breakfast should be served in a few minutes". Qweri added and left the room.
'I can see why I never got along with Gael now, he's just as a pain in the butt as I saw in the memories. Xenon thought. "Now let's check the new quests available". He said to himself.

"Yo system! Why has the water requirement changed?". Xenon asked.

"Why did the reward have to change too? Getting exp has gotten harder now, do you just like to see me suffer? Dear System". Xenon lamented. The system ignored his remarks, not bothering with a reply.
"Ahhhh". He sighed loudly. "Let's go have some breakfast shall we". He got out of bed and left his room for the dining.

"Xenon! Qweri just told me you're awake. Are you okay? How are you feeling now?". Elsa rushed to meet Xenon as she saw him walk towards the dining room, she was very worried and made sure he was okay before she released him from her grasp. They ate breakfast –with Gael– in awkward silence.
"So how did you do it?". Elsa asked after they've finished breakfast.
"Do what?". Xenon feigned ignorance.
"How did you heal yourself?". She asked again.
"I just tried something that was not particularly safe... and it worked". He answered.
"Preposterous! You want to tell me you healed yourself by chance, when numerous specialists deemed your illness incurable?". Gael said furiously.
"Maybe the so called specialist didn't check well enough". Xenon replied.
"You're definitely hiding something, because not only did you heal yourself but you also got the hang of meditating on the spot. Now start speaking before I make you". Gael shouted.
"What is the damn issue you have with me? And can you stop shouting at me like a barbarian, I have no obligation to explain anything to you and you better not raise your hand at me" Xenon retorted.
"And what if I do?". Gael stood up and moved to hit him, only to be stopped by Elsa.
"Xenon! Apologise to him". She demanded.
"But he star..."
"Now, Xenon!".
"Ok, ok... sorry, Gael, nothing personal". Xenon scoffed.
"Yeah, it's fine... I'm cool". Gael relaxed and Elsa released him, only for him to hit Xenon in the back of his head before going back to his seat.
'Motherf...er'. Xenon said under his breath.
"Now how did you know of whatever you tried that worked?". Elsa asked.
"Why did you think I spent almost everyday at the study? Since I wasn't allowed out of the manor, all I could do was search the entire study to see if I could find any useful information about what was wrong with me.
"Well, I read every single book in there, but I still couldn't figure out what's wrong with me. So I just started trying every remedy that was ever given to people with problems in their ousia. But that didn't work either.
"So I found one more potion, but this one wasn't prescribed to cure, but destroy a person's ousia. There was nothing else for me to lose. If it worked, great; if it didn't, I'd either quicken my death or destroy my Ousia completely. So I made Qweri get me a core crippling draught, and here I am, cured". Xenon said, pouring out the speech he had been practicing since morning that consisted of lies and partial truths smoothly. He looked at Elsa's and Gael's faces.
'They bought it'. He celebrated inwardly.
"But you could have died, why didn't you tell me?". Elsa asked.
"Because you wouldn't have let me do it. And if I didn't try it I was sure to die sooner or later, because the thing I vomited was killing me already".
"That blue vomit and pus that was all over you and the study's floor? What's that?". Elsa asked.
"Yeah, I don't know what it is".
"I still think you're hiding something though". Gael pierced him with a studious gaze.
"Wait, wait, shouldn't Gael apologise to me too? for interrupting my meditation yesterday". Xenon voiced out.
"Why would I apologise to you, brat". Gael scoffed and left the table.
"I won't be home today, I have to report this to our grandfather. Do not step on Gael's toes while I'm away, I may be gone the whole day". Elsa announced.
"Why do you have to tell him". Xenon gritted his teeth. "He probably wouldn't even care, he...".
"You know I have to, even though he's a... he's still our grandfather". Elsa said.
"Sure. See you later". Xenon left the dining table to his room.

"I'm totally exhausted, I didn't think it would be this exhausting". Xenon stood up and stretched himself, breathing heavily. He had been meditating outside, under the cool shade of the apple tree for a while.
He opened the system and checked his quests. "One down, one to go". He muttered after checking his quests tab.
