Chapter 42 - Chapter 41:Blood in the Shadows

The news spread faster than fire.

By morning, the city was already buzzing. Bars, brothels, gambling dens, and alley corners all whispered the same tale:

The wolves slaughtered an entire gang in one night.

Some swore they saw it with their own eyes. Others dismissed it as rumor. But everyone agreed on one thing: Luv and Ayu weren't just names anymore. They were a threat.

In a dimly lit club, smoke and liquor hung heavy in the air. Around a polished mahogany table, three of the city's most notorious gang bosses sat in silence, listening to a nervous underling stammer out the story.

"They… they tore through them, boss. Didn't even hesitate. It wasn't a fight—it was a bloodbath."

The first boss, a heavyset man with gold rings on every finger, slammed his glass onto the table.

"Bullshit. Two nobodies can't wipe out thirty men."

The second, a woman with scars crisscrossing her face, leaned back with a cruel smile.

"Believe it. I've seen pups grow into wolves before. These two? They'll either burn bright and die quick, or they'll take a piece of the city with them."

The third boss, an older man with cold eyes, spoke for the first time. His voice was gravel, steady and dangerous.

"Ryuga's fall created a vacuum. If these wolves keep tearing through the packs, they'll rise faster than anyone expects. And when pups grow too fast…"

He paused, lighting a cigar.

"…you put them down before they learn to bite you."

Meanwhile, in a hidden safehouse on the city's outskirts, Luv sat at a wooden table, methodically cleaning his bloodstained knuckles. The silence in the room was thick, broken only by the faint drip of water from a cracked pipe.

Ayu stood at the window, watching the city lights flicker in the distance. Her blades were already sharpened, her movements restless.

"They're going to come for us," she said flatly.

Luv didn't look up.

"Let them."

Ayu turned, her eyes glinting with a mix of excitement and unease.

"You don't get it. This isn't street trash anymore. The big gangs—they won't ignore us after last night. They'll send killers, spies, even armies if they have to."

Finally, Luv raised his gaze. His expression was calm, but there was a fire smoldering in his eyes.

"Good. Then we'll know who the real predators are."

That night, as the city buzzed with rumors, shadows began to move. Paid assassins sharpened their knives. Informants hunted for the wolves' hideouts. Old rivals sniffed the air, eager to test their strength.

And in the darkness, a message spread across every den and alley:

"The wolves must die."

But for Luv and Ayu, the hunt had only just begun.
