Chapter 9 - Chapter 9: Forum Announcement, 20 Kills

Su Changxing did not go to the fifth floor; instead, he cautiously walked down the stairs, step by step, wanting to see if he could exit directly from the stairs.

Just as he reached halfway, a series of loud and chaotic howls erupted by his ears, causing his hair to stand on end, and his body froze instantly.

So many zombies.

Could this be the zombies' lair?

Su Changxing felt a chill in his heart, crouched his body, and slowly took one step back at a time, fearing to disturb these monsters. He retreated all the way to the sixth floor before letting out a heavy sigh of relief.

"Did I spawn right on top of a zombie lair? Am I really this unlucky? Luckily, I didn't disturb those monsters just now."

Sitting against the desk, Su Changxing felt a lingering fear while doubting himself, wondering if he should be grateful that the Doomsday Game didn't throw him to the lower floors.

A blessing in disguise.

Aside from the discount shop, this should really count as a hellish start.

Man proposes, God disposes. Su Changxing's original plan was completely disrupted; now even leaving this building wasn't going to be easy, let alone checking out the Mysterious Shop and getting firearms from the police station.

"So, how do I get out of here now? I can't just hide here for thirty days, especially since below is a zombies' lair; no matter how you think about it, staying here isn't safe."

Su Changxing looked down from the window, it was very high, about a dozen to twenty meters.

Climbing was obviously not a good option; with his climbing skills, he would likely fall, and even if the fall didn't kill him, it would leave him paralyzed.

So he made a careful decision to escape upwards. Since he couldn't go down, he would go up instead and see if there was a way down from the rooftop. After all, the building wasn't very tall, only a dozen or so floors at most.

Having made up his mind, Su Changxing took action immediately. The infection mechanism of the zombies was a heavy weight on Su Changxing's heart; every second mattered now.

As per the old rule, clear zombies floor by floor.

Su Changxing walked straight to the eighth floor, searching for zombies. After slaying more than a dozen zombies, he no longer felt fear, terror, or other emotions towards zombies. Perhaps only a bit of physiological disgust remained.

The so-called terror often comes from the unknown or from weakness. The best way to overcome fear is to eliminate it.

The Steel Saber slashed horizontally, and with the sound of bones cracking, Su Changxing once more killed a zombie.

He roughly wandered around the eighth floor and only found two zombies, one of which had a lame leg.

Suddenly, he felt somewhat relieved.

The difficulty of the game seemed to have changed from hard to easy.

After taking down the two zombies on the eighth floor, Su Changxing didn't linger long before heading to the ninth floor to continue clearing zombies. There were only three zombies on the ninth floor, and he completed the clearing in more than ten minutes.

And on the tenth floor, having roamed around, he found no zombies, which made him a bit unaccustomed to it. He had gotten so used to hacking zombies that, suddenly, there were none to hack.

He even suspected that the zombies were hiding in some covert place, ready to ambush him. After wandering around again, he confirmed that no zombies existed.

Upon entering the eleventh floor, Su Changxing noticed that the stench of decay in the air had significantly faded, he could barely smell it—probably because he was further from the zombies' lair.

In the first room of the corridor was a zombie, which Su Changxing dispatched with a single slash, and it fell helplessly to the ground.

[Killed a Zombie, Earn 10 Points]

[Total Points: 346]

Unknowingly, he had accumulated so many points; Su Changxing harvested 200 points just from hacking zombies.

Simultaneously, his phone vibrated, and Su Changxing saw it was an announcement from the forum.

[Lucky Child was the first to kill twenty zombies, currently ranked first in zombie kills, earning the primary title, "Split Head Pioneer"]

This was the first announcement from the forum, which immediately blew it up; within moments, there were thousands of replies under it.

Reply 1: Wow, Lucky Child is awesome, killing twenty zombies in just half a day is simply terrifying.

Reply 2: I am willing to call the boss the strongest of our Human Race, what are mere zombies?

Reply 3: Speaking of, what does this title do? I see Lucky Child's name turned red, like a VIP.

Reply 4: I just want to know how to kill twenty zombies in such a short time. If I could do that, wouldn't I rack up 1000 points in four or five days?

Reply 5: If you could do it, would you even care about the thousand points? What is a boss? A boss can do what ordinary people cannot.

Reply 6: I just want to say boss awesome.

Reply 7: Awesome +1

The announcement's popularity kept rising, which greatly impacted many people. While they were still fearing zombies, someone had already started treating them like dogs to kill. Simultaneously, this also encouraged many people, as the power of example is always infinite.

A fat man named Zhou An was hiding in the corner, trembling. He didn't have the courage to face those terrifying monsters, and in his hand, the only food was two bags of chocolate cookies, which he was reluctant to eat.

Yet this announcement stirred something in him. The person on the announcement was the same big shot who had previously exchanged food with him.

"Others are able to obtain food because they have the skills and the courage to face zombies. If I want more food, I must face these zombies. I don't want to be a mediocre person anymore."

The fat man made some sort of determination in his heart, gritted his teeth, grabbed a wooden stick, and carefully opened the door to observe the situation outside.

"Damn it, I'm going all out, so what if I die."

He stormed out waving the wooden stick furiously, but within two minutes stormed back in the same manner, slamming the door shut heavily.

There was a heavy pounding sound coming from outside the door.

"Good grief, what a mess, that was too scary."

······

Su Changxing was also a bit taken aback at the moment. He, who was originally a disabled person, had become the one who killed the most zombies and was even given a title.

He should be the first person among everyone to receive a title.

[Split Head Pioneer: Forum Title, any post by the titleholder is automatically pinned, and the holder has the ability to mute others. The title grants the holder a talent, Split Head]

[Split Head: Attacking an enemy's head with any weapon increases damage by 25%, effective for all weapons]

Su Changxing felt like he gained a deeper understanding of the structure of various creatures' heads, understanding which spots were relatively fragile and which were tougher.

It was like the butcher dissecting an ox, using techniques and understanding of the ox to make the same amount of force inflict more damage to the ox.

"As expected, a title is more than just a title; it strengthens the holder through talent."

Su Changxing was very satisfied with this inexplicably acquired talent. This damage increase allowed him to handle zombies more easily and increased the chances of a one-hit kill.

After the announcement was made, the forum also added a leaderboard for zombie kills, and Su Changxing's ID was prominently at the top.

First Place: Lucky Child: Kills 20

Second Place: Feng Hua Mao: Kills 19

Third Place: Marquis Hei: Kills 19

Following were a long string of people with 19 kills, and there was a large element of luck in Su Changxing being the first to achieve twenty zombie kills.

No one expected that killing twenty zombies first would earn a title, and at that moment, points didn't have a clear use for others yet, so no one would specifically go kill zombies.

Additionally, Su Changxing was inside a building where the number of zombies per floor was small and sparsely distributed, but the overall total was quite large.

Plus, to find a way out, he prudently cleared zombies floor by floor, thus very luckily being the first to complete the twenty kills.
