"What do you mean?"
Mewtwo didn't understand what the second half of little Riolu's words was supposed to mean.
Zapdos was a Bird Pokémon. Having wings and being able to fly was its natural advantage—so why was Grey calculating the effects of gravity?
"Mio~" (Hey, if you want to break through Regirock's defense, the move has to hit hard enough.)
Little Riolu watched the fight ahead, then turned to ask Mewtwo:
"Mio~" (With your psychic power, you should be able to tell how strong they are, right?)
"Yeah. I can."
Mewtwo gave a small nod. Invisible, formless psychic power gently wrapped around Regirock.
It wasn't interfering with the battle—just pulling a bit of information.
"This Regirock is really tough."
After sensing it for a long while, that was Mewtwo's conclusion.
"Mio~" (See? Even you know this thing's tough. If Zapdos keeps flying around up there, it'll still be really hard to crack its defense.)
Little Riolu swung its legs and took a sip of its drink.
"But then why not just use Weather Ball right away? If it's Weather Ball, with double power, the damage should be higher, shouldn't it?"
Mewtwo knew that under Electric Terrain, the power of Zapdos's Electric-type moves would increase.
But instead of stacking all these buffs, wouldn't it be better to just use Weather Ball while it was already raining? Maybe that would hit even harder.
"Mio." (You've seriously got nothing but fighting on the brain. All you think about is 'use the stronger move,' huh! You have to test the waters first. If you lead by throwing out your trump card and they block it, then what?)
Little Riolu shot Mewtwo a sidelong look, and in its mind, it tossed out a few more sarcastic complaints about Team Rocket.
They had the power to create an artificial Pokémon… and the one they made was a Pokémon that only thought about bulldozing everything with high-power moves.
A pure muscle-headed brute.
"Then… as long as there's technique, can a Fighting-type Pokémon defeat a Psychic-type Pokémon?"
Mewtwo asked its final question.
"Mio." (Yep. If you've got technique, then of course what you said can happen. You can ask Grey when you get the chance—he'll probably tell you.)
"Okay. Thanks."
"Mio~" (No problem—grill some meat for me later~)
Little Riolu smiled so happily that Giovanni couldn't help glancing over.
Mew was sitting right beside him—so close it was practically within reach…
Giovanni only swept his eyes over once before looking away.
Steven was still here. Not a good time to make a move.
On the field.
"Regi…"
Regirock dropped to one knee. Chaotic electric sparks kept bursting from its rocky joints.
When it tried to stand, the paralysis made it stiff—like a rusted machine.
This rock giant that normally felt unstoppable… now even lifting an arm was a luxury.
"Tch, paralyzed?"
Brandon had thought that after Gravity, this would become his advantage.
He hadn't expected Grey to have Zapdos use Electric Terrain and smash his plan to pieces.
With Electric Terrain empowering it, that Thunder not only heavily injured Regirock—it even successfully inflicted paralysis.
And Zapdos?
It had only taken one or two hits. Its stamina was still in pretty good shape.
As the gap in the battle kept widening, Brandon already knew who was going to win.
But as a Champion-level Trainer, when had he ever surrendered?
Brandon steadied himself, and his command cut through the rain curtain:
"Regirock, use Earthquake at maximum power!"
Earthquake didn't require a huge range of motion. Among the moves Regirock could still manage right now, it was the strongest and most effective option.
"Re…gi…"
Yellow-brown light flared around Regirock's feet. Even as paralyzing arcs crackled between its joints, the rock giant still forced itself to raise its right leg!
"Now!"
Grey's command came after—but arrived first:
"Zapdos, use Weather Ball!"
In the torrential rain, Zapdos spread its wings.
A milky-white orb condensed in front of its beak.
Countless raindrops gathered into it, and a massive water-blue energy sphere appeared once again!
This Weather Ball—after absorbing the rain—had reached a downright terrifying level of power!
"Zaaap!"
Zapdos snapped its wings forward, and the Weather Ball shrieked as it shot out!
With the downpour driving it onward, its speed was absurd!
BOOM!!!
Regirock's raised leg didn't even have time to stomp down before the Weather Ball detonated against its chest.
"Regi…"
The shockwave blasted Regirock backward again and again. Its rocky feet carved two deep trenches through the ground, and it teetered at the very edge of the battlefield!
"Still not down?"
Grey couldn't help marveling at how absurdly thick Regirock's HP bar was.
After taking so many moves, it still hadn't gone down!
Sure enough—none of the legendaries had an easy HP bar.
"Thunder!"
Grey followed up with another big finisher.
Zapdos beat its wings. Heaven-shaking thunder roared across the sky, pressure blanketing the entire field.
Even the Gravity field on the battlefield couldn't compare to it.
In an instant, a gigantic pillar of lightning crashed down, striking Regirock dead-on!
That blow also took away Regirock's last remaining strength.
"Regirock is unable to battle! The winner is Fighting Dojo's Dojo Master Grey!"
Silver raised the flag, declaring Grey's victory.
[That was so satisfying, brothers—Zapdos is insane!]
[I hereby declare Zapdos is even more brutal than Articuno!]
[Wonder when the host will bring Articuno out for a fight. He clearly has two birds, but so far he's only shown Zapdos.]
[Isn't it three?]
[The host didn't catch Moltres, did he?]
[Hey, there's Blaziken—another bird, that's just one more. Round it a bit and it's basically three birds.]
[Feels like you guys are implying something…]
"Mio mio~" (That's enough… ah, I mean, the battle's over—bye, everyone~)
Little Riolu saw that today's donations were more than enough, and since the match had ended, it said goodbye to the viewers and immediately shut off the stream.
The viewers didn't even have time to react before [Livestream Ended] filled the screen.
"Grey, your strength really opened my eyes."
Brandon returned Regirock, walking over while still applauding.
Both of them were at an Elite Four level—standing on the same tier.
And his Regirock even had the advantage in terms of typing.
Yet it still couldn't beat Grey.
That left Brandon full of emotion.
The new generation really does push out the old.
You're impressive!
Brandon looked at the Zapdos that was descending, then at Grey, and lowered his voice:
"Do you happen to know anything… about the legendary pillars—the Regis?"
