Chapter 109 - I’ll Take You Two Somewhere Else

Seeing Ning Rongrong eat the Soul Power sausage that Oscar had made, everyone else forced themselves to swallow their own, despite the queasy feeling.

One by one, they managed to get it down. At first, Zhu Zhuqing hesitated, but thinking about the arduous road ahead and not wanting to slow Wukong down, she finally swallowed it too.

"Good, that's right. We're all from the same academy. Building bonds between teammates early on is important," Frand nodded in satisfaction. With everyone finishing the sausages, they would now understand just how powerful they could be.

It also satisfied some of Oscar's pride, boosting his morale.

"Now, each of you run twenty laps around the academy," Frand instructed.

"No resting until you've finished! Master Zhao will provide saline water if needed."

After giving these instructions, Frand returned to his office to prepare the supplies for their upcoming journey to the Star Dou Forest.

Of course, Zhao Wuji accompanied them as well, since Tang Hao had been dealt with by Wukong ahead of time.

Thanks to this, Zhao Wuji avoided a beating, and Tang San got a pass on some care duties.

So, Zhao Wuji should really be grateful to Wukong—though he had no idea.

"Yawn~"

The boring atmosphere and monotonous training even made Wukong yawn.

"This is so dull. This running is like boiling frogs in warm water. Soul Masters need to improve not only their soul power but also their physical fitness," Wukong immediately pointed out the flaw in this running training.

"Absorbing soul rings depends on physical condition; soul power is just a benchmark. And there are only a few days left, yet they use this warm-water frog method?"

Wukong nodded, observing the setup at Shrek Academy. It made sense why monsters appeared so often here—the harsh entrance selection and grueling academy training were entirely responsible.

Other major academies didn't have such high thresholds for nobles. With some effort and family influence, almost anyone could get in.

Otherwise, how could someone like Xuebeng even enter? With such low soul power, they wouldn't even qualify to polish shoes.

These were imperial-level academies, far beyond a small village in resources, environment, and instructors—some even Soul Saints or Douluos.

Since most students were noble children, teachers often gave them special attention unless they were top students like Yu Tianheng.

Graduates often ended up like Xuebeng—utterly spoiled.

If other imperial or city academies used Shrek's rigorous methods and entrance tests, Wukong doubted their graduates would develop any less than Shrek's.

"Boiling frogs in warm water? Hah, you're wrong!" finally spoke Tang San, who had been quiet until now.

"My teacher said that running can sometimes trigger great potential in the body, and is one of the fastest ways to test limits in exercise," he explained.

"So your method isn't quite correct," Tang San said with interest, looking at Wukong and wondering what counterargument he could possibly have. He'd already covered everything.

Wukong sneered at Tang San's statement.

"Sure, your teacher says it's right, your teacher is the world's top theorist… wow, you're the strongest, really impressive."

"Exercise's fastest way to reach your limits is combat…" Wukong facepalmed. He thought Tang San had gained some insight over the years, but he was still blindly following Yu Xiaogang in training.

"Humans can only reach their true limits in battle, tapping into their potential. Trying to develop potential through ordinary practice? Dream on. It's nearly negligible."

To truly tap one's potential, life-or-death combat was the best method.

Why?

At the brink of life and death, humans can unleash latent strength. Human potential is infinite. Your casual running? Just basic conditioning.

"…I see," Tang San mused, understanding Wukong's point. Combat indeed brings out potential fastest, but who has the leisure to constantly risk life for training?

Xiao Wu, seeing Tang San being roasted, crossed her hands and made faces at Wukong.

"Hey! Who casually fights for fun?"

"And if you die by accident?" she added.

Wukong didn't argue with her—why reason with someone who's decades of thousands of years younger? Yet seeing her naive expression, he still explained:

"No determination to grow? Don't use my method. You must pay a price to gain a return…"

"Don't expect to lie around and see your cultivation and soul power soar magically," Wukong continued.

"You think you're the child of the universe? Ridiculous…"

"Here's another truth: Only by ignoring life and death can you taste the sweetest gains. Confidence in life, death, and your cultivation is already a form of strength…"

Shrek Academy students, hearing this, were suddenly enlightened, eager to return and train—but first, they had to complete Frand's tasks.

"Confidence is the peak…" Wukong said, hands behind his back like a master, lecturing the youngsters. If they later insisted on following Tang San, it would be their choice and their mistake.

"You!"

Xiao Wu was red with anger, glaring at Wukong but couldn't find a rebuttal. She felt ready to explode on the spot.

"Xiao Wu, stop…" Tang San, having learned a lesson himself, felt some regret for his past fallout with Wukong. Sadly, there's no cure for regret.

"Sun Wukong, you make a lot of sense… I've learned my lesson." Tang San performed a classic martial-arts gesture to Wukong and grabbed Xiao Wu to run laps around the school.

Before leaving, Xiao Wu still made a few faces at Wukong. Not holding a grudge.

"What took you so long?" Wukong sneered, thinking he'd already given them the chance before.

Now that Tang San had joined the Martial Soul Hall, a full break with him was inevitable. Might as well go all the way.

"Forget them. Zhu Qing, I'll take you somewhere else to train. The gains will be hundreds of times higher." Saying this, Wukong didn't hesitate, scooped Zhu Zhuqing up in a princess carry, and prepared to fly using the Cloud Dance Technique.

Zhu Zhuqing didn't resist, letting Wukong carry her.

Dai Mubai watched, feeling itchy at the sight but powerless—after past lessons, he had developed a healthy fear of Wukong.

"Wait!"

Just as Wukong was about to fly, a clear female voice called out.

Turning, he saw Ning Rongrong.

"What's up?" Wukong asked.

"Are you going to train?"

She mustered courage. "Can you take me with you?"

Wukong was surprised but softened at her determination and the changes she'd shown today. A trace of his past human compassion remained, not yet fully consumed by Saiyan-like battle drive.

Grabbing Ning Rongrong's small hand, he took off toward the sky with both girls.
