Chapter 12 – Yujiro vs. Shisui! I'm the True Body Flicker Prodigy!
And so, Yujiro and Shisui stepped onto the Uchiha clan's grand training grounds.
After the fall of the Senju, the Uchiha had become Konoha's largest ninja clan.
Sure, thanks to terrible diplomacy, they were as welcome as a wet dog at a banquet. But sheer size and legacy still meant their training facilities were the best of the best—spacious, well-equipped, packed with Uchiha sparring daily, either "killing with their eyes" or vomiting fireballs.
Naturally, news that Yujiro and Shisui were about to have a friendly spar spread across the compound faster than Flying Thunder God.
Every hot-blooded clansman rushed in, their eyes practically glowing red. They weren't here for "training." They wanted to see Shisui beat Yujiro into the dirt.
"Go get him, Shisui!"
"Teach that bastard a lesson!"
"W-we're not here just to watch Shisui pound Yujiro into the ground or anything, b-baka!"
In theory, anyone thinking rationally knew Yujiro had been working for the clan's good. But rationality had long since left the room. Right now, every man and woman here just wanted to see Yujiro's smug face smashed in.
If they couldn't do it themselves, watching Shisui do it would be the next best thing.
Shisui glanced at Yujiro and felt his respect deepen.
If the entire clan had turned on him like this, he would've broken down already. Torn between loyalty to Konoha and to his family, Shisui's "solution" would probably have been a tragic suicide note. Yujiro, though? He stood tall, unbothered, even smiling.
In this one respect, I'm not his equal, Shisui thought.
Then—whoosh. A kunai brushed past his bangs, Yujiro's voice following:
"Don't zone out, Shisui. This is a duel. Focus."
"Yes, sir!"
And then Shisui was gone.
The Body Flicker.
To ordinary eyes, it looked like teleportation. One of the simplest, most terrifyingly practical jutsu in the world.
But Yujiro wasn't "ordinary."
"Left side… no. Right side."
The "Shisui" that appeared on his left was a mirage. The real strike came from the right.
Clang! Metal clashed.
And then again, and again—steel on steel, blades sparking as two bodies flickered across the arena.
The two Uchiha darted, vanished, reappeared, blades colliding faster than most eyes could follow. Every step was life or death—just one misread, one slow reaction, one weak strike, and you were finished.
This was taijutsu at its most stripped down—simple, efficient, lethal.
No flashy genjutsu. No giant firestorms. Just two human killing machines moving too fast for the untrained eye, cutting down anything that fell behind.
Like the White Fang once had.
Like the Yellow Flash did now.
And like the Flame Claw and Shunshin Shisui before them.
From the sidelines, dozens of Uchiha felt a chill at their throats. They asked themselves the same question:
If it were me in there… could I even survive a single exchange?
The answer was obvious. No.
Even if you had a hundred invincible techniques, what use were they if your body couldn't keep up?
Some muttered: I have a Sharingan. I'll just trap them in genjutsu.
Wrong. Against other Uchiha, genjutsu was useless.
And even if it weren't… you'd still need the reflexes to cast it.
The truth was clear: Body Flicker monsters were the scariest executioners in the shinobi world.
Cut. Kill. Vanish. Repeat.
The clan leader, Fugaku, finally spoke, voice calm but firm enough for everyone to hear:
"They're terrifying, yes… but it's also reassuring."
The words steadied the crowd.
He was right. Yujiro and Shisui weren't enemies. They were Uchiha. Their strength was the clan's strength.
Family. Brothers. Partners.
Who would ever raise a blade against their own kin? That would be inhuman. Impossible.
The two combatants halted at last, sweat glistening on their brows.
Yujiro smirked. "That's enough for warm-up."
Shisui nodded. "Agreed."
The crowd gasped.
Warm-up?
That speed, that precision—and that was just "testing the waters"?!
Round two began.
This time, Shisui cut loose. His speed blurred past comprehension, body splitting into phantom afterimage upon afterimage, so fast even Minato himself might've admitted defeat in a short dash.
He was a blur of killing intent, blades flashing from ten directions at once—
And then, just as suddenly, it was over.
The clones vanished. Shisui stood panting before Yujiro, staring at him in disbelief.
"…What… just happened?!"
To follow the duel, every Uchiha in the crowd had activated their Sharingan.
But even with the famed dynamic vision of the Sharingan, they couldn't track the fight in full.
Their eyes darted instead toward the veterans—those few who had awakened the three tomoe. Perhaps only they could truly grasp what had just happened.
Of course, even if they understood it, that didn't mean they could withstand an attack from either Yujiro or Shisui.
One elder explained in a low voice:
"In a single instant, Shisui used at least twenty Body Flickers, striking at all of Yujiro's vital points. During the assault, he also threw sixteen kunai and seventy shuriken. But…"
"But Yujiro blocked all of it."
The crowd fell silent.
Clan head Fugaku finally spoke, his tone grave:
"No. Not twenty. Shisui executed twenty-seven Body Flickers in that moment. Yujiro, by comparison, only sixteen.
In sheer speed, Yujiro is slightly inferior. But his mind is sharper, his technique more seasoned, and his raw strength greater. He defended against every one of Shisui's attacks—and in the end, he landed a blow himself. Of course, with the back of his blade."
A hush swept across the training field.
"Then… does that mean Yujiro won?!"
"He actually struck Shisui…? Could it be that the Flame Claw is stronger than Shisui the Body Flicker?"
"It was only a spar. Victory in one exchange doesn't prove everything."
"Yes, but still…"
Whispers rippled through the clan, awe mixing with disbelief.
On the training ground, the two combatants ignored the noise.
At last, Shisui let out a long sigh, tilting his head back toward the sky.
"…I lost."
At that very moment, the familiar system chime rang out in Yujiro's mind:
